Caveat emptor( let buyer beware)

First, my significant other was ill for the dates originally booked, owner rescheduled, ty. Was easy because nobody else booking. Why, guessing they read reviews which I unwittingly did not. When you enter through entry gates states you can roam the grounds. You better wear work shoes, all the area under some mayhem of ground construction with littered equipment from trucks, dump trucks, metal skeletons and other old excavation equipment. When entering sight, first thing you see is garbage dump. Arriving to house attacked by swarm of flies(mentioned in other reviews) because of horse dung. I know owner feels no crime in area but would be nice to know at night can secure house with good locks. When leave to go out have to leave house and possessions unlocked. Dishes had to rewash, shower had 3 minutes of hot water, linens with dirty stains on them. Advertising WiFi(none), advertised TV(none), when drove to location called and asked if television or should I stop to watch BILLS game, response”LOL yes” television. There is a television(no plug in cord or remote), owner stated left from previous owner. What??? Advertised washer and dryer( just washer only). No curtains on windows in bedrooms or shutters, on display at night or in room in darkness so not on display. Watch out for top stair feels like might go through and I’m 170 pounds. Other buildings on grounds look like should be condemned. I used grill after I did intensive cleaning. We left two days early. My suggestion to owner just advertise as is. Whom ever took pictures of place, good photographer, hid all negatives of place. VRBO shame for not caring to check on location to see if matches description.

Rustic Cabin

The location was beautiful once you got to the cabin. My main issue with the property is the listing promises more than was there. The cabin was tidy but I was a little uncomfortable with the fact that they ask the guests to vacuum and change the sheets especially when a cleaning fee is charged especially with Covid going on. There was no wifi. I chose this specific property because my husband occasionally needs to answer emails for work. The tv on the main bedroom had had no remote or plug. There were no curtains in the main bedroom so the campers next door had a clear view of us if they looked up. We didn't have key to the property so had to leave the door unlocked when we came and went. I also feel like the cabin was slightly overpriced for what we got and the campsite was a bit messy. I really do think the location and place is really nice for families looking to get away and enjoy nature. They had a fire pit, boats with life vests and oars. I would recommend it for families with older kids 6 and up. I was a little nervous with my two year old. We did see the horses and she loved that. I would recommend the owners update the listing to reflect what is available.

Never Again

My friend and I were horrified by this rental cabin. The cabin smelled strongly of wet dog and there were flies everywhere. The windows were all sealed shut so there was no opportunity to get any fresh air into the cabin. The two horses that live on the property spent most of their time at our cabin either blocking our way to the entrance (probably hoping for food) or chewing on the windowsill of the house itself (the noise we woke up to the first morning). The cabin WAS located on the river, and we had hoped to spend some time sitting outside enjoying the view with our coffee, but there was so much horse poop to navigate through and so many flies that we found we couldn't even enjoy that aspect of the house. Despite paying a cleaning fee, we were asked to make up the beds for the next guests with fresh sheets and vacuum the floors. "Rustic" doesn't begin to describe this place.

"Rustic" and worn-out!

"Rustic" we expected, run down and worn out was what we got! Although on a river in the wonderful Saranac Lake region, the actual property and cabin left a lot to be desired. The long driveway winds through neglected outdoor machinery. The cabin is seriously in need of repair! One window is cracked, dented doors, ineffective screens -thus expect mosquitoes to wake you at night. Particle board walls in the porch with dangling electrical wires, and NO internet despite being listed as an amenity. Cockroaches in the sink, neglected kitchen supplies, and very worn-out towels and bedding. No comfortable chairs. We expected much better for price!

Great Location

First impression was not great. We arrived late and woke up someone who was still at the property. The property owner said it was a double booking and he booked us at a motel a mile down the road. We then checked into a room that was decent but the door was wide open upon our arrival. The next day we had to check in to the house after a long day of golf. The house is perfect! Right along the river and everything we needed. We didn't get to use the house all that often as we were on the golf course from sun rise to sunset but it was nice to come home to a private house where we could chill by a fire and have a few cocktails. Highly recommend and hopefully we can stay here next year.

Great rustic cabin

The cabin is small and rustic but very clean and quaint. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and the bathroom was a nice size. The bedrooms were a nice size and the master had an amazing view of river/trees and a wonderful breeze through the open windows. The front porch was great for playing games/cards and overlooked the river--a great place to hang out on cool/buggy nights. There is a picnic table and fire pit and a large grassy area great for yard games. The two rescue horses were a delight to feed and pet. Overall, it was a great stay and we were very pleased. The owners were super friendly--would stay here again!
