The house has an awful smell of old damp carpet. We did not sleep in the bedrooms because we couldn't stand the smell of the the rooms. We all slept in the living room. The kitchen cabinets were not clean as well, we found a spider inside. We tried to communicate this feedback on our first night but the property manager said this is the first time they hard such comment. Looking at the reviews I think she is mistaken. There were few who shared the same views as ours. So totally not worth the money.

Absolutely Awesome river views
Host was very good at responding to anything and everything
Quirky house - way too much random stuff. Needs a good clear out
Rustic Charm at Roebank on the Blackwood River Cottage
My time at Roebank on the River Cottage was a peaceful getaway. Julie was so kind to offer to let me come back after my trip got cut short due to work.
The rugged beauty of the landscape with the river so close created a tranquil atmosphere. Chilling on the upstairs balcony felt like staring at a beautiful painting because of the view.
The cottage is old and basic but I found this just added to its charm. I'm a nature lover, so watching the wildlife and feeding the sheep was heartwarming.
Roebank is a rustic gem for a calming farm stay. Can't wait to return to this cozy retreat of rustic charm and friendly hospitality.
Photos on website are nothing like what the property looks now.
Outside vegetation is overgrown and there is sheep poo everywhere.
In side the house is infested with spiders, earwigs and cockroaches, even inside kitchen cupboards and appliances.
The house is poorly maintained, with fly nets falling off and bathroom window glass almost falling out. Light bulbs missing, and lots and lots of spiderwebs everywhere.
Beddings and towels did not smell nice and when washed the water came out brown.
Overall cleanliness was poor.
Location was amazing, and surroundings with beautiful views. Stay was relatively cheap, but definitely not worth it.
Overall rating :
Very good for location
Poor for everything else, not worth the price.

the host was lovely. the view was amazing. had a very relaxing and comfortable stay.
Quaint farmhouse in a picturesque location with the river on the doorstep. We enjoyed a very relaxing and peaceful stay at Roebank, taking in all the sights and sounds of nature. The accommodation was clean and cosy with everything we needed and host, Julie, was very accommodating and easy to contact/communicate with. The huge open fireplace downstairs was an absolute dream! Winner winner chicken dinner!
We loved the property and was perfect for our needs. The owner was lovely and had great communication ensuring we knew how to find the property as we were arriving after dark.
Would absolutely book again

Not 28km from Nannup as stated
Julie the owner was lovely and very accommodating.
Only issues was that it stated 28km from Nannup which maybe true for a crow. Please change on the listing to 54km by car
Overall the facilities were good. The beds comfortable, everything you need is there. Wonderful view in an isolated country setting by the river. The house has old furniture and a casual feel but roomy.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Absolutely loved the views and birdlife. We already miss it.
The road leading to the farm has breathtaking views, even on misty mornings.
This is the second time we visit HESTER BROOK. It’s simply amazing and we had lots of fun out there. Also the Julie is such a friendly person to deal with. Hope to visit in the future too. Thanks

Disappointed
Although the property has amazing views and is located in a very beautiful place, unfortunately the accommodation itself is not great. It’s dated indeed, however this would not be a problem for us as long as it was clean. The cleanliness left something to be desired.
Julie, the host, is very nice and provided us with clear directions.

A weekend break
We started off by not being able to find the property. Julie said she had emailed us directions on the morning of our arrival but it has still not arrived 3 days later. When we could finally contact her she came out and guided us to the property.
We are three guests in our 70’s so found the entry from car park a little daunting. The house was superficially clean but left a lot to be desired with spiderwebs and spider dirt along kitchen windowsill above the sink and in bedrooms, bathroom and toilet.
The fireplace downstairs was full of rubbish and mouse dirt was found in the downstairs bed. Tea towels hanging on the kitchen cupboard did not appear to be clean.
Saturday night using the toaster caused three lots of power outage, fixed by flicking the control switch up. Next morning there was a general power outage, a western power fault but unable to have shower before we left.
Location of the cottage overlooking the river was wonderful. The changing views looking up and down the river with fog and sunshine and then rain was magical. Bird life was great.
It was so good to get away from traffic noise and mobile reception was non existent. (iiNet mobile)
Beds were comfortable and I slept well.
A jolly good spring clean would certainly enhance the appeal of this property. With the current Covid situation one could not be satisfied that the current methods are enough.
The current layout is not reflected in the photos posted on Stayz.
The property is amazing! Have a very nice and quiet time alone. That’s all my needs!

Why they chose this property
Roebank Farm and the neighbouring Peninsula House both have historical significance in Bridgetown and were part of the first settlement in this area.
This delightful hideaway is located just 10kms from the heart of Bridgetown and after a short journey along a gravel road you’ll find our three character residences perched along the river bank with breath taking views of the sweeping valley.
The Roebank Cottage was built in 1890 by the grand-daughter of John Septimus Roe who was a famous civil engineer who contributed to the original town planning of Perth and Roebourne. It was constructed using clay bricks sourced from the local area. The original dwellings on the property were made from wood but unfortunately they did not survive the bushfires over the past 150 years.
The Riverbank Homestead was added to the the property in 1970s and has been built into the riverbank elevations to maximise views of the scenic Blackwood River from all areas of the home.
In the 19th century Roebank was primarily a sheep grazing farm and the original shearing sheds that stand today were used sheep farmers around the district. Farming activities have ranged from orchids, cattle, sheep and goats and today is a family hobby farm and accommodation for tourists.
