A hidden gem

This property was so unique with its beauty and complete solitude. Our family of 18 enjoyed every second at Inks Ranch. The lake outback provided us with hours of entertainment and relaxation. It was fun hiking in the early morning and exploring the property. The house was well equipped with everything you would need. We will defiantly come back to this hidden gem.

Great property for large groups

I rented this property with a large group of friends from college, and the property couldn’t not have been a better place to reconnect! The lake provided us with lots of activities and the privacy of the location was awesome for a large group.

Best Views in Texas!

We have stayed in dozens of places all over the United States and this place has to be in our top 3 of all time. The property is amazing and makes you feel like you're in a State Park and have it all to yourself. There were six adults who stayed here for three nights. The sleeping arrangements were a little odd and left something to be desired, however that's not why you come to place like this. You need to come in knowing the house will be a little run down and primitive but the views, the hiking and the wildlife are what makes this place so special. We loved this place and made memories that will last a lifetime.

Family loved the place

I made this reservation for a family reunion. Unfortunately, my husband suddenly fell ill and we could not go. The rest of the family did go and they loved the place. These are some things they told me: great water and swimming, wonderful hiking, lovely lighting at night over the water, best stocked place they have ever stayed, loved drink cooler, said it was in the middle of nowhere, which they liked, enjoyed the wildlife, boats for adults and children. All want to go back next year. One thing: one of the couples turned around when they went through an entrance that said private property, no trespassing. It seems you do go through that property. They did eventually get there after calling other family that was already there. Probably should mention this in the directions - or maybe it was stated and they missed it. As I said, I was not actually there. But, next year we will be!

Happy guests!

This is at the top of our list of favorite places we've stayed! We explored on the mountain, kayaked and fished in the pond, fed and watched the animals, and so much more! The house was neat, clean, and had everything we needed!

What an awesome location!

We brought everything, but the cabin was full stocked (water, condiments, spices, toiletries). The mountain is beautiful, easily accessed and climbable by even the children (with supervision). The lake was the highlight for the kids, who wanted to be in all day. Wonderful family vacation!

Our favorite vacation rental EVER

Inks Ranch is, without a doubt, our family’s favorite vacation rental. We’ve never ever stayed anywhere like this. The land is breathtaking—the photos cannot do it justice. Not only is the view amazing—you can go out and explore it all! We spent hours hiking and climbing and exploring. My 5 active kids were in absolute heaven! When we weren’t exploring, we loved fishing in the ponds, kayaking, or playing the many board games in the cabin (my kids also tried swimming, but the water was pretty chilly in February!) The cabin is spacious, very clean, and extremely well stocked. The grills were very nice. Kitchen had everything we needed. I also cannot conclude this review with our saying that the hosts (Robyn was my main contact) were absolutely exceptional—kind and hospitable and helpful. If you get an opportunity to speak to her about the history of this ranch—take it!! I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity and it left me with an even richer appreciation of this ranch and the people who run it. If you have an opportunity to visit Inks Ranch, you should DEFINITELY take it!

Does it get better than this?

We booked this ranch for a family vacation...and were blown away. This place made for the best large family get-together we could have imagined. The view from the main living room and the deck might be the most amazing view outside of Santorini Greece we have ever had. Every day, a herd of Audad came within a few feet of the house and several days, so did a herd of goats. We had a plumbing problem on the second day, but the owners were responsive and solved it with little hassle on our part. On the last day, we got a flat tire, and the owner talked us through using the equipment on the ranch to solve it. Truly a great experience. We will return.

Fantastic Stay

I really don't want to write this review because I'd prefer to keep this place a secret. I love this area of Texas and this ranch is so cool. Robyn and the family that own the ranch extended true Texan hospitality, my whole crew were blown away. One of the guest my family took has already booked a trip for their family. I truly loved our stay and will definitely be back to explore it more. If you want to relax and be one with nature this is the place. Mike Asbury

Beautiful Country

This was our second time out to Inks Ranch just as the weather gets cooler and again the stay was impressive. What a beautiful area with amazing views during our hikes along with watching a huge herd of Audad come down to drink from the water right in front of the house! We had 7 people so there was plenty of room to spread out and the kids absolutely loved swimming and fishing right in front of the house. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals and we loved the coffee bar. We spent the days hiking through the rocks and were able to see many animals including herds of Mouflan sheep, Audad sheep and Goats, how do they get to the very top rock! We also so several deer walking through and the rock squirrels were fun to watch. Our evenings were very relaxing on the porch and we enjoyed the time to be unplugged, we had no cell service and loved it (there is wi-fi). We will be visiting again for sure!

So relaxing

The ranch is a great place to be. You can relax and enjoy the scenery or you can hike up one of the many trails. The road is great for an early morning run and you never know what wild life you might see. We were lucky enough to see animals crossing over the rocks as we sat in the shade. There is also a rock that is great for viewing the stars at night. The beds are comfortable and the house just gives the overall great feel. We will definitely take another trip there.

One of my favorite places on earth

The best views in all of the Texas hill country. Comfortable accommodations And Texas hospitality at its finest. There is the most gorgeous view of the mountain from the porch. Best place to enjoy your morning coffee or evening nightcap. Every visit here has left me refreshed. Hiking in the area is phenomenal. The wildlife viewing is top notch. There is no reason not to book a stay. You will not be disappointed. Looking forward to my next stay.

Amazing TX Hill Country Retreat

We had a short stay and can't wait to get back to recharge. We set our phones down for hours and hours and just enjoyed the natural beauty around us. Watch Mountain is a wonderful view; enjoyed best all day from the porch. We watched the sunrise over the mountain with a cup of coffee and the moonrise with a glass of wine. In late afternoon, we spent time on the porch waiting for the Aoudad sheep to come to the lake. Our kids enjoyed playing in the lake and exploring the mountain. We went and watched the sunset and the stars on a special rock a short distance from the house. If you can bring your telescope to the ranch, do it; the skies are amazing. The house is plenty big for a couple families to enjoy a retreat away from home. We enjoyed, fishing, hiking, swimming, wild animal watching, sunrises, sunsets, peace and solitude (hunting is available too). The accommodations are well loved but clean and comfortable, like going to your grandparent's house in the country. There is so much to explore and do at this ranch oasis. Our kids ask us all the time to go back and we are looking forward to returning for some more memories.

Heaven on earth!!

This place is heaven on earth!! We find ourselves incredibly blessed to have experienced the beauty of this ranch. We have stayed on the Inks Ranch numerous times and we are always eager to return! Our kiddos love paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing in the water and I love watching all the aoudad and mouflon climbing the rocks in the early mornings with a cup of coffee on the porch. My fiancé fires up the grill in the evenings to cook some bacon wrapped axis back strap, and we eat dinner with a glass of wine under the stars. We have had many memorable family hikes up the mountains and I even got to hunt and shoot my very first aoudad with my bow!! And he was HUGE!! That was an experience I’ll never forget. The cabin has that rustic cozy feeling when you step inside, the beds are always freshly made and comfy, the kitchen is fully stocked and the living room is spacious with the perfect couches for afternoon naps (although we never nap because we love to explore the outdoors). It even has the most unique bar I’ve ever seen with a tree trunk right through the middle of it! Anyways, if you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind, make memories with family and friends, go hunting or exploring on the most beautiful land on earth, all while enjoying a newly remodeled rustic cabin, then you have found the place! And let me just add, the owners of this ranch are the most thoughtful, gracious hosts I’ve ever met! They really go the extra mile to make sure your stay is the best vacation ever!
