Oceanfront - 3 Bedroom Villa - BEST VIEW IN TORTOLA

Ewing House is on a hillside, 60 feet above sea level, bordered by the ocean on two sides overlooking the ‘mile-long” Long Bay Beach. From all bedroom and common rooms you can see a number of other islands, the most well known being Jost Van Dyke while enjoying views of endless Atlantic ocean . The house truly offers the best view in Tortola as many of our guests have attested to.
You are only a 2 minute walk to the water as the beach begins at the foot of our driveway- about 50 yards from our house. We are one of only a few houses on the island that are directly located right on a usable beach. You may recognize this picturesque beach from calendars and other publications on the Caribbean.

Located on Tortola’s West End, Ewing House has walking access to various other beaches for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and surfing. West End has many excellent restaurants, a number of running/walking loops along the ocean, sailing as well as scuba diving day trips. Of course, one can also just read in the shade of the porch or sun bathe and watch the waves roll by. The house has 3 bedrooms, each with the same view and size. The house comes with daily house keeping service provide by our wonderful manager, Christine. There are so many things to do on the island and easy ferry trips to the various other islands or................... you can just RELAX.........There's no place better for that.

A Gem in Paradise

The property is beautiful, overlooking beauty, with such a kind, helpful and beautiful housekeeper - Christine. The trending word in my review is obvious- beautiful. Tortola Retreat

Wonderful home in wonderful location. Beautiful view of long bay and Jost. Silky sand beach steps away. As well as two great restaurants. Shady 30 minute trek to Smugglers Cove, with nice snorkeling, calm waters and beach bars. Home has 3 king bedrooms with en suites, nice patio and decks, and good kitchen for meals at home. Great place!

We were three couples traveling together. We loved your home! The views were spectacular. It was in a great location. We loved the beach and beach bars/restaurants right there. The owners were great about responding with questions and checking in prior to our arrival. The house manager, Christine is amazing. So helpful. responsive and keeps the house looking great. Great Time in the BVI!

We are 3 couples in our 60's visiting Ewinging House for the second time. The house is in a perfect location, right above the beach. We ate out almost every night; our favorites were Tropical Fusion, Bananakeet, Sebastians and Sugar Mill. We used Stouts Taxi service and Murlises Taxi. The beach had changed a bit since our last visit in 2016. The ocean was very rough and there was coral in the water so be careful where you walk. We spent a day at Smugglers Cove where the water was much calmer. Had drinks and wonderful hot dogs at Nigel's Boom Boom Beach Bar! In all, we had a wonderful stay. We didn't want to go home.

Do We Have to Leave?

My family of four so enjoyed our 2 week stay at the Ewing House. What a special place on this planet, views were over the top gorgeous, loved our walks to the beach, Tropical Fusions and the resort. The locals on Tortola are the kindest and most lovely people. Enjoyed days on Long Bay, hanging with Nigel at Smugglers Cove (so convenient and an amazing beach), soaking in the sun and sounds at Cane Garden, and a super easy and fun day to Jost. Great local restaurants to boot.

Must be one of the best views in the world!

We stayed there seven years ago before the hurricane. We were a bit concerned on what we would find, but the house is in excellent shape. We had a wonderful time ambling on the beaches snorkeling right out in front of the house and in smugglers cove. The memories from this wonderful place will be forever in your mind once you visit.

Ewing house at Long Bay

Heaven! Okay, more details. My wife and I returned to Long Bay for the first time in 40 years. We stayed at the old Long Bay Resort (now rebuilt) and the new resort looks sensational. We elected to stay at Ewing house for the kitchen and additional room and we were not disappointed. Great view of the beach and surrounding islands. The sunset was front and center on the deck of the house every afternoon. Truly a short walk to the beach. Christine, the housekeeper/welcoming committee/and more was priceless. We had ordered groceries ahead of our arrival and Christine put them away for us. We alternated eating at Tropical Fusion and 1748 and had great meals. Lunch or dinner at Sebastian's at the Beach was on our plan but we didn't make it there. I recommend Jerry's Car Rental which is a small local company but tremendous service. If you are renting a car and are not familiar with Tortola, print a map with good directions as there are no signs with street names or other indicators. Also do not plan to rely on GPS on your phone unless you get a phone that works on the island. Ewing house has three bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms so having the house for just my wife and myself seemed like we were not making proper use of the space so maybe soon we will return with family. Communication with the homeowner was great and helpful. We highly recommend Ewing house although we would prefer to keep it a secret so it would be certain to be available for us.

Paradise!

We had such an amazing time in beautiful Long Bay and this villa was the perfect place for our family! The views were unmatched and we didn’t really need to ever leave the whole week. I had to force my family to leave and explore just a bit because everyone was perfectly content to just stare at the gorgeous scenery. The beach was gorgeous and very secluded, and a super short walk to the end of the driveway. 2 great restaurants and a bar right on the beach. Several other great restaurants within a 10-15 min walk, or just grill and make food at the house. We found this location to be very accessible to everything on the island and hope to be back. And Christine was incredibly helpful and responsive to all of our questions. You will never regret staying in this wonderful paradise!!

Absolutely Beautiful!!!

We had an amazing vacation! The pictures don’t even do it justice. The house is beautiful and Long Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. We came here to celebrate our 21st anniversary and my mother’s recovery after triple heart bypass surgery. We fell in love with Long bay and waking up to that amazing view every day! Christine was so nice and helpful. She is very knowledgeable of all things local and she will kindly give advice when asked. She even cooked rice and beans for us one day! There were beach chairs, board games we played one night with my two teens, and a new outdoor grille. My mom would take a chair and go down to the beach early everyday. Perfect location and home for our 3 couples. You won’t find a better vacation home this size on Tortola. The view is to die for and we actually purchased a small print of our view in one of the shops. Mimi has done a beautiful job of providing everything you need. Kareem with Perfection car rental was wonderful. He went far and beyond in helping us. We are owners of a VRBO property on the coast of SC and I can attest this is a perfect property.

AMAZING VIEW, AMAZING PROPERTY!!!

Four of us just spent a week at Ewing House. It exceeded all our expectations! Mimi communicated with us before the trip, answered all our questions, and anticipated our needs, giving us great advice. We preordered groceries from Bobby's online, and they delivered them to the house before we arrived. Christina, the wonderful housekeeper for the Ewing House, met the delivery and put everything away so that when we arrived, the drinks were cold and all our food was there for our first dinner. The view was out of this world - better than the photos. All the bedrooms were lovely, spacious, with ensuite bathrooms and AC. The 4th bathroom off the living room was wonderful. We walked the beach everyday, often stopping at the Tropical Fusion Restaurant, which was just 25 yards down the beach, for a smoothie or dinner. We didn't rent a car, but used Merlise's taxi service. She lives very close, and her son Eddie drove us to Smuggler's Cove every other day. It is a fabulous swimming beach, very calm, uncrowded and beautiful. There are beach chairs and umbrellas to rent, and Nigel cooks lunch there, and there is a small beach bar. Eddie also took us up to Bananakeet restaurant. Go before sunset for the fabulous view, and stay for the food! We took a sail on the Aristocat catamaran to Virgin Gorda to visit the Baths. The boat and crew were wonderful and it's great to sail up Drake's Channel. Christina is the housekeeper, and took fabulous care of us! We were spoiled by her every day! She also gave us lots of great advice. We have rented houses all over the world, and Ewing House is the best we've ever rented! We can't wait to come back! Thanks Mimi!

Couldn't have been better!

We had the pleasure of spending a week at the Ewing House. It was spectacular! The house itself is amazing. There was plenty of space for the six of us and it was immaculate and well stocked . We spent every morning sipping coffee, while looking off the deck at the turtles swimming in the turquoise, crystal water. Days were spent lounging on the beach that is only steps away from the house. Mimi was responsive to anything we asked about or needed. I would recommend Ewing House to anyone looking for a truly relaxing, 5 star vacation. We can't wait to go back!!!!

Beautiful beach getaway

We had a lovely time staying at Ewing House. The location and views were stunning and the house was perfect for our group of 5. Christine helped us feel welcome and kept the place looking great. Every morning we could enjoy a walk on the beach just steps from the house. Many times being the only ones on it. Ewing house and BVI has stolen a little place in my heart. I will be back. Great time in Tortola

We had a lovely time. The house has a Wonderful view and everything we needed. It is sad that more isn’t open on Long Bay, but we enjoyed walking on the beach and the house is located in a great spot for getting around. We were happy with our decision to stay at the Ewing House! Mimi is a great host, she sent us a very detailed note along with maps for getting around, and Christine was great too. She was there when we arrived and took care of us while we were there! We ordered groceries from Bobby’s Supermarket and had them delivered the day we arrived. That worked out great and saved us some time. We rented a car and was glad we did. We went all over the island. There is still a lot of rebuilding from the hurricane but it is still a beautiful island! We took a few day trips. We took the ferry from the west end to Jost for a day and stopped at Foxy’s, and Soggy Dollar, and we took a ferry from Road Town to Virgin Gouda for a day and went to the baths. Both were great days and easy trips. We also chartered a boat one day, which was spectacular. There weren’t a lot of dinner options yet due to the hurricane but we found a couple good spots, our favorite was Sabastians, and you can walk to Sabastians if you don’t mind the hill! Again, we had a lovely time. The Ewing House was perfect for us!

Spectacular views, convenient location

Ewing House is located on Long Bay Beach. The beach is a short walk down a steep driveway. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Christine, the housekeeper, is wonderful. Mimi, the owner, was always quick to respond when we had questions before our arrival. My family and I enjoyed our stay at Ewing House.

Great location

Ewing House a great location overlooking Long Bay beach. Photos do not do justice to the view. Main floor 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room. Downstairs huge apartment with own kitchen. Very well furnished. Christine the maid very accommodating. The owner Mimi very concerned about your stay as she calls to make sure everything right.

Our stay at the Ewing house Tortola BVI 12/23-1/1/17

Overall very nice and comfortable house for 4 adult and 2 kids. Good and convenient location to all nice beaches and attractions . House keeper arrived Daily to clean she was very attentive. Only problem, was challenging to find the house when arriving at darkness.

About the host

We originally built the home as a family with my husband, myself, my sister and my mother. The house was managed by my mom who was a pediatrician in Ohio and although she died in 1994, the house is still sometimes referred to as Dr. Ewing's house. My family currently resides in the Connecticut . My children and grandchildren have each come to the island since they were a few months old. It is a great place for children as they can play in the house during the day and as the living room is open to the sea side, you had the feeling of being at the beach without the sun.

Why they chose this property

We first visited the island as a family in 1973 and left the island 9 days later having purchased our site. The island really opened to tourists in 1966 when a small bridge was built connecting the small island called Beef Island to Tortola and an airport was built on Beef Island. We were one of the very first non-native families to build on the island and feel that we bought a particularly beautiful sight. The beach literally starts at the bottom of the driveway. . We are in walking distance to a number of good restaurants and hotels with their amenities. As we are on a point, we have a lot of privacy and never run the risk of losing our view.

What makes this property unique

We do have the view that we have seen on many calendars. It was on the Costco brochure last year for cruise travel. My mother was once in the dentist chair and saw it on his calendar hanging before her. As I said, it is a very short walk to the beach. It is easy to pop down and have a swim. We do have beach chairs if you want to stay but we frequently just go down and swim and then come up and enjoy the comforts of the open house as the walk back and forth is so easy. We are very close to a number of good restaurants.
