About this property

Urban Luxury on a Budget

Eclectic, light and airy 1 queen and 2 twins with super comfy beds apartment with separate living room and office. Full kitchen and laundry in unit. Close to all of St. Louis' attractions. Walk to Sump Coffee, Benton Park and Cherokee Street.

Less than 10 minutes to Mardi Gras central in Soulard. About 10 minutes to Downtown, Tower Grove, CWE and more.

Love to host you. Check in when convenient for you.

NOTE: TWO FLIGHTS OF STAIRS TO GET TO THE UNIT.

Our goal is to supply our short term rentals with everything a guest might need during their stay. The beds have super soft linens, plenty of towels in the bathroom and the kitchen has the basics required to cook a meal including a full compliment of spices. This space is great for longer stays as it has a separate office and its own laundry.

This is an eclectic, transitional neighborhood. Marine Villa is a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The neighborhood is located just south of the large and historic Anheuser-Busch Brewery complex along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. It is further defined by Cherokee Street's Antique Row on the north, Gasconade Street on the south, South Broadway and Jefferson Avenue on the west, and the Mississippi River on the east.

Good deal

The apartment is super cute. And the neighborhood is cute. We seen numerous families out enjoying the weather. We did not feel unsafe at any time while staying here. The stairs inside the apartment are steep and there needs to be some type of gate at the top of the stairs to protect children from falling. The bathroom was really the only place that needed to be deep cleaned. Like the baseboards, shelves, sink ect. There is a day bed with a trundle not two separate standing beds. Overall we enjoyed the apartment, and would rent it again.

Nightmare, Host from hell

Paid for 1 month unfortunately. Extremely violent neighborhood, often hear gunshots near the home one or more times a day. No ‘restaurants “boutiques” cafes’ as stated in her ad anywhere near here. Not one business but a gas station. Nothing. except the one coffee shop she goes on and on about. The only way to get internet is to keep the modem turned off and only turn it one when you want to watch tv or are home because her renters downstairs use up all the data. If it’s on there is literally no internet though she says she has “really high speed internet”. When I ask her about the lack of internet she says I’m demanding or lying. Her "nice neighbors": the house next door is condemned, the other side asks for money. Her queen "mattress" is 10" of eggcrate foam on 3 metal frames so it won’t sag. Urine/semen stains on the bed cover- removed it to wash- never been removed or washed, NOT water proof/resistent, so it soaked into the foam!! and she only had a regular sheet over the pad!!! That means she allowed people to sleep next to other people’s body fluids which can contain Hep C, B. Seriously. The other room’s “twin beds” is a day bed with a trundle bed underneath. My 5’11” son’s feet hang through the bars at the end of the bed. Luckily the trundle mattress is new so I put that over the queen mattress. The rest of the home is dirty and very superficially cleaned. From day two I complained daily to VRBO about all of her intentionally false ad descriptions and the dangerous neighborhood, the conditions of the home, her refusal to work with me, her rudeness, name calling and demeaning words. My main concern was how violent the area was (91.6/100 crime index) not typical St Louis as she says in her ad by far. My grave concern was for my child and his severe anxiety disorder. I wanted a full refund so I could find another place. She would only argue and then texted "I'm done with you. Vacate the apartment 4/21 (10 days after move-in)". No refund, so without the funds we can’t leave. 4/21 while I was at work she walked in with a big dog, a man and told my CHILD to leave with our things. My son, frightened, called me. I called 911 so the police went to the home and told her not to enter it when it is rented. We have barricaded the door until the end of the rental agreement. 4/23 new renters tried to enter the apt. though we're still here and she is aware. They were not happy saying they already paid her. VRBO say they can do nothing.

Visiting family

The house was nice to stay in. I did notice that it was a little dirty and not well maintained. I went to the store the day after I got there and bought some cleaning supplies my self and cleaned it a little. But over all it was a good stay.

It was a comfortable stay. It was accommodating. The location/neighborhood was not the best. We had no issues. I would use this company again but not the location.

This duplex was one of my first purchases in St. Louis. Formerly a single family home, the rehabber converted the building into to apartments with and adorable layout. It has a couple of quirks like some uneven floors and crooked windows due to settling, but it is in great shape now. This building has two short term rentals with two bedrooms and an office. We like to keep the number of people in our short term rentals in check so that we don't have issues with the neighbors. This is a great place to stay for awhile and work.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this building to start building a real estate portfolio. At the time, I lived in California. I have since relocated to St. Louis. I love the variation in weather here.

What makes this property unique

Staying at The Den is having an experience of a typical St. Louis neighborhood. The neighborhood is very diverse. Our neighbors across the street on both sides are super nice. The building is within walking disctance to Cherokee Street which has eclectic stores and many restaurants. Sump Coffee shop, which enjoys a cult following, is super close.
