Bright and cheery with splashes of color amongst soft yellows and taupe, Elizabeth’s Retreat enjoys a queen-size pillow-top mattress with a beautiful white iron frame, a small sitting area, and desk area with windows to the south and west, the latter having a garden view. The entry area now restored to the original hardwood floor. The private bath has a large walk-in shower with handrail and molded seat.
The Oliver Phelps house was built in 1813 and expanded in 1830. An example of Greek revival architecture, it retains lovely features for today’s guests: twelve-foot ceilings, wide plank floors, blown glass window panes, old-growth trees on the grounds, and the spaciousness of a great Federal period home.
