About this property

Samudra - fascinating and relaxing beach house

Set in a native landscape of tree framed ocean views and calming bush surrounds, Dridan House offers a truly relaxing beach getaway. Recycled timbers, expanses of glass and soaring ceilings embrace the ocean as comfortably as the wilderness.

With a warm open fire, wrap around decking and abundance of natural light this home is all about relaxation, immersed in nature. The expansive open plan kitchen, dining and living area offer ample comfort and space.

Three large bedrooms and two bathrooms flank the main living space. The master - with ensuite - offers ocean views from your pillow, while the 2 back bedrooms take in a spectacular bush outlook. It is not uncommon to wake to grazing kangaroos, a passing echidna or a visiting koala, and the home’s soundtrack is a symphony of native birds.

A 10-minute downhill walk into Lorne provides access to the town’s vibrant food and retail options, with abundant choices of bush walks, waterfalls and wildlife literally on your back doorstep. If you’d rather stay in, the outdoor kitchen overlooking the Erskine River valley includes a charcoal barbecue and pizza oven.

Dridan House is more than a beautiful place to relax and unwind. It is a genuine opportunity to experience all that Lorne has to offer.

Some significant issues with this property
The property has great architecture and comfortable beds but also some significant detractors and pretty average amenities. Lack of privacy, neighbors close on either side with views straight into the house including bathroom which has no window covering. Lots of insects in the house, to the point of swarming on the very hot night we had. Old electric stove / oven and no gas bbq. Small fridge barely worked, no ice trays/ ice, no dinner plates and air conditioning unit broken on arrival - a 35 degree day. The ‘charcoal bbq’ was poor and we had to request wood for the pizza oven which had no paddle to get the pizza in the oven. Lounge setting not as pictured and inferior. No draws or hanging space for clothes in second or third bedrooms. Small tv, no dvd, streaming services or WiFi, and 4G Internet was poor at the location. No one wants to troubleshoot multiple problems when on holiday - ie time taken trying to communicate with property managers - which is difficult at peak times, or deal with technicians. Although GORH staff assisted with some issues, we were dissatisfied. A refund of one night out of our 7-night stay (where no one slept due to broken air con and swarming insects) was requested but not provided.
