About this property

Two storey, self contained Cottage, separate to the main house with your own access.

Quiet location on our lifestyle block surrounded by farmland. Spacious, bright and airy, with rural views and private deck. Guests often comment that they wish they had booked for a longer stay.

Easy access - we will leave the cottage unlocked if we are not going to be at home for your arrival.

Putting the "B"'s back in BnB with a generous, self serve, continental breakfast with fresh farm eggs, to have at your leisure.

Parking for multiple cars or trailers.

Just a 10min drive from vibrant and historic Whanganui. Close to SH3 & Paloma Gardens.

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwaser, bench top multi oven, pots and pans, cutlery, crockery etc, plus plunger coffee, toastie pie machine, nutri blender and filtered drinking water. Washing machine and clothesline.

Two bedrooms upstairs with queen sized beds. The first bedroom is in an open area at the top of the stairs. The second bedroom is accessed through the first bedroom, with a connecting door you can close.
There is also a double sofa-bed downstairs in the living area, a spare single mattress and a porta-cot.
The bathroom/toilet is downstairs.

Private outdoor deck with seating for morning coffees or quiet evening drinks taking in the rural views, and BBQ.

Amazing bird life, star gazing on clear nights and an ever-changing rural outlook.

Awesome place to stay

Loved staying here, even tho it was only for one night. Lovely host, great spot, and incredibly well appointed cottage. If you’re here during winter the fire is lovely. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful stay in the Cottage

Beth was a wonderful host for our get away to Whanganui to see Paloma Gardens. The cottage was cozy and warm with the fire on and the eggs and other treats were a lovely addition. Great communication and very accommodating. Such a peaceful place to stay, highly recommend.

Lovely home

We were road tripping around the North island so we only got to stay one night in the house but wished we had more! the house was beautiful, the owners were very friendly, and the town was lovely. We greatly enjoyed our stay, it was our favorite place we stayed on the 2 week trip

Absolutely amazing!

We stayed at Magnolia Cottage for 2 nights with our 3 children and enjoyed it very much. Beth is so nice and took care of all the small details we could possibly think of. We enjoyed the fireplace, the breakfast, the view from the house and of course the cute dogs :) Highly recommended and if we travel to the area again we'll definitely be back.

Rural Bliss

Beth and Graham provide a lovely cottage, with all the home comforts you could need. Private, sunny and warm. Welcomed with home baking, fresh farm eggs and other goodies that we enjoyed for breakfast. Dry firewood ready and great seating inside and out. the rural view was peaceful and beautiful. Comfortable beds and thoughtful decor and touches made a homely environment. Outstanding hospitality Thank You for your thoughtfulness.

Vintage weekend stayed at Fordell

Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming, and the property was top notch. Beautiful place, we loved our time there and waking up to see sheep and cows outside the windows. Definitely recommend to everyone. Darren and Nyria from Paraparaumu.

Absolutely fabulous!

We loved everything about our stay at Magnolia Cottage, from the comfy beds through to the cozy fire. There were so many lovely touches all through the cottage that made our stay just wonderful. Incredible Vacation in Costa Rica

From the time we booked 4 months ago to the hour we left Fred & Louis’s communication was exceptional. They would answer within minutes of sending a request. The condo was great for my family and the location was central to the beach Club and within walking distance to the marina village. The condo was very clean and well decorated. Everything in the unit performed without issues from the washer and dryer to the plentiful hot water. When we return to Los Suenos we will certainly be using this unit again as I know what I will receive when booking this unit. Great Communication, clean unit and a fabulous time at Los Suenos. FYI. I would recommend renting a golf cart as it makes it very easy to get around the property as the property is large and it will allow you to travel to a nearby grocery store and restaurants that are offsite.

Excellent Accommodation

My wife and I loved the accommodation which was well equipped with everything we could have wanted. Beth was a wonderful host, and her dogs made us very welcome. Also not too far a drive to Whanganui. We would highly recommend.

Lovely Spot!

Friendly hosts (and dogs) with great communication throughout. Two bedrooms upstairs separated via a door both with very comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen and comfy lounge. Quiet and with a scenic drive from town. Had a great stay.

About the host

We love meeting new people, having ran a successful BnB at Mangamahu and hosting HelpEx travellers from all over the world for many years. Since moving closer to Wanganui in 2020 we have set up Magnolia Cottage at our new property.

We grow export kiwifruit for Zespri, run a sheep and beef farm in Mangamahu and on our lifestyle block where we now live, have a Silviculture (forestry) business, beehives, and Beth breed's chickens and quail.
