The house is directly opposite a park with a small playground and BBQ facilities & toilets. The shack is conveniently located close to a beach entry point. It's close enough to duck back for lunch during a day at the beach. The Hungry Seagull is a general store where you can also get fish & chips or an ice block, on the other side of the park. There is also a new Churros & Coffee Cart & a Slushee Cart around the corner on Callala Beach Road. Club Callala (also on Callala Beach Rd) has a restaurant and bar with a complimentary bus service.
There are also 2 bike and walking paths close to The Shack. One leading to Callala Bay & its Boat Ramp, across the creek and giving you scenic views of Jervis Bay along the water. The 2nd leads to Myola where you can access the Husky Ferry which takes you to Huskisson. The ride to Myola takes you through the bush where you encounter local wildlife on a regular basis! JBs Myola is also providing a bike, kayak & SUP service at Currambene creek.
There is NO Wifi OR Airconditioning at the Shack. The TV is also obstructed by a pole depending where you sit - sorry! There was just not a good place to put a TV!

We, a family of four adults and two kids (1.5 and 5 yo), had an amazing time at Callala Beach area for the Australia day long weekend. The Shack @ Callala is located a mere 100m from the beach so we could just walk in and out the beach throughout the day, very convenient. The house itself has got every we needed, including beach toys (the kids loved them!). Restaurants are just a stone throw from the house (the Calabrisella and the fish & chips shops are must try!).Overall, we're pretty happy with our stay.
Brilliant to be so close to Callala Beach, and also a great launching spot to visit all of the surrounding areas. The Shack was well set up, perfectly comfortable and had everything we could need for a beachside adventure.
Stayed over New years, was great with all the fireworks around the area going off.Discovered some nice places to visit around the area. Nice and close to the beach, with everything you need provided by the host. The Shack, is a nice older home to stay in
Overall, very happy. Location is outstanding and the house is comfortable and exactly as described. Outdoor BBQ and eating area provide perfect all-weather facilities.
Charming property in a great location with easy access to beach and the local food options.
Back yard was great to use when the weather turned.
Host was very responsive to requests. Would stay here again.
We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay at The Shack. The location is incredibly convenient, just a few meters away from the beach. The house itself was impeccably clean and impressively well stocked with everything one could possibly need and more. Kirstin, the host, has truly thought of every little detail to ensure a worry-free and enjoyable stay.
One of the highlights for our family was the backyard, where our kids had a blast playing badminton. It provided a great space for outdoor activities and added an extra layer of fun to our vacation. And of course, the beach was a major hit with the kids as well. They couldn't get enough of the sandy shores and the inviting waters.
We cannot speak highly enough of The Shack and the efforts made by Kirstin to make our stay memorable. If you're looking for a convenient, well-maintained, and fully equipped vacation rental, this is definitely the place to go. Thank you for an incredible experience!"
Loved our stay! House is as advertised - it's original and it's quaint! Location is just lovely, best of park and beach which was perfect when the weather was cooler. Lots of other likeminded families staying nearby.
We stayed at the ‘Beach Shack’ at Callala Beach for 2 nights & loved it! The house was compact but comfortably accommodated the 4 of us. A 2 minute walk to the beach & access to an awesome Italian restaurant.
Kirstin was responsive with communications & the booking process & flexible with our check in & out times. We loved our stay at the Beach Shack & we’ll definitely rebook in the future.
Great location, very close to the beach and local shops! The property was clean and there were plenty of extras such as beach toys and games to play for the wet days. The outdoor dining area was extremely enjoyable too! Our family loved the stay - thank you!
Great stay at The Shack. The location is AMAZING. Quiet neighbourhood, 2 minute walk to the beach, a fantastic pizza place over the road, kids playground right out front. The house was very comfortable and clean. A big garden which was used for a few games of cricket, an array of beach toys, an outdoor covered area and the all important outdoor shower for washing the beach off.
There is no aircon, which was made clear on the listing, but there were fly screens on all the windows and doors and we got a lovely breeze through the house, plus there were fans in every room.
Thanks Kirstin for the great communication and the recommendations, especially Mr Nobody for gelato!
Kristin was very easy to communicate with and very quick with responding to any of my questions.
The house is clean and has everything you need, including the board games and beautiful backyard with the bbq.
Very close to the beach and 5 min drive to local IGA.
Our family of four enjoyed a few idyllic days relaxing at Kirstin's place at Callala Beach. The house itself is comfortable, well-equipped and super clean. We spent a lot of time lounging around in the outdoor area at the back of house, which catches a lovely sea breeze. Proximity to the beach meant we visited several times a day for child-friendly boogie boarding, shell collecting, swimming and digging. Kirstin's local tips ensured we ate the best gelato, pizza and fish and chips. A wonderful break for us all.
The Shack @ Callala was simple and perfect for a very happy & comfortable beach getaway. Host Kirstin was lovely, helpful and quick to respond to questions and the house was clean & well supplied with the basics. Best was the location, literally no more than a 2 minute dawdle to the beach and plus a big box of beach toys and body boards, no need to BYO.
Beds were very comfortable, the decoration perfect for the beach location. No air con but open windows & fans provided a comfortable nights sleep upstairs and the sea breeze kept cool air circulating downstairs.
Thank you Kirstin - We look forward to future stays!
Thanks so much Kirstin for our stay. The house was great, had everything we needed and you were so helpful with early check in and late check out. We had a great time despite the weather. ☺️
The house is a simple beach shack. It is not flash and there is no air con, but it had everything we needed, is close to the beach and we had a wonderful time here. The outdoor shower with hot water was great for washing the sand off before going inside. It is a fantastic beach and so close from the house.
'The Shack' is a great place to stay. The house is super close to the beach, so close I took my morning coffee to the beach and drank it there. The house is tastefully decorated with all that you need for a beach holiday. We were two families and even though it felt a bit cosy it didn't matter because the beach was so close. Beds were comfortable too!
We'd definitely stay again and thanks Kirstin for being a great host!
First and foremost; the all-important, location. Walking distance to the beach is a big advantage and something I value highly - not having to get the kids in the car. It's also across the park from the one and only takeaway shop in Callala Beach, also a bonus (bring cash money though - at the time of writing, they don't have card facilities).
The house itself has a very good use of space, bedrooms are good sized, as is the rest of the house. Kitchen is well-stocked and there are plenty of lights/fans/heaters around too, plus a big. comfy L-shaped couch.
Outside area is also quite big, with a large, covered BBQ area and outdoor setting. Backyard is fenced in and plenty of beach/water/outdoor toys in the chest.
Only a few little inconveniences affected our stay, but communication with owner was excellent and they generously refunded us a portion of the cost.
But ultimately, the question is, "would we stay here again?".
A resounding, "yes". 👍🏻

Why they chose this property
We had been going to the other well known white sandy beach for a couple of weeks every summer and we decided to explore the area a bit more and found this unknown sleepy beachside town of Callala Beach and we havent been back to the other beach since! The house is definitely a "Shack", it is a work in progress and we have loved staying in it even in its original state! The location is ideal with the park across the road, the beach within a minute stroll and a general store on the other side of the park. We send the kids off to ride their bikes and go to the playground without any worries.
I love going for my morning walks along the beach and see dolphins nearly every time. You can also hear the sounds of the sea at night as you are going to bed. It really is our happy place where we can slow down and enjoy going for walks, riding bikes, playing board games. We hope you enjoy the house and the surrounds as much as we do.
