Dave & MB are wonderful hosts. The property is immaculate. Cottages are clean, cozy and comfortable. They are equipped with everything you would need. The lake is gorgeous, with plenty of kayaks and SUPs to use. This is a little slice of heaven.

Just as pictured

We really enjoyed this property and the amenities - easy access to a lovely part of the lake, use of stand up paddle boards, kayaks & sunfish. Hosts are great and often on the property.

Charming

The spot was beautiful. Grew up vacationing on the lake and it was a treat to be able to enjoy its charm again. The host was very accommodating and the cabin has so many wonderful touches. Will be going back because it was so relaxing. The cabins are simple but decorated so well.

Charming cottage by the lake

The cottage was very clean and the kitchen was unusually well-equipped. It had everything we wanted, including a screened porch with a view of the lake. Dave gave us a nice tour when we arrived, and showed us the kayaks & paddleboards we could take out on the lake. There was also a gameroom. If you bring a regular boat, the public launch ramp is fairly close. An ideal getaway for a couple, and there is space for kids in the loft. Wished we had more time to spend there.

Perfect

This is a cozy, delightful cabin on the most beautiful, clean lake. Wonderful screen porch. Dave was easy to communicate with and a welcoming, friendly host. The property has interesting history and is very well kept and cared for. It’s clear that many guests come back here every year, and I can see why. I would stay here again any time. Absolutely loved it.

Cozy Cabin…

What a great place for our anniversary weekend retreat! Dave is a wonderful host - communicative and so friendly. We loved talking to him about…well a lot things. This place is really well appointed from mustard/mayo in the fridge to water toys to the game room - even cozy blankets for a fall nap on the porch. We look forward to going back for a longer stay! Thank you Dave!

Simply charming and totally relaxing!

We stayed for a week with our 2 children (ages 5 & 8) and had a lovely week exploring the lake and enjoying all of the kayaks, paddle boards, and floats. The cottage is cozy, clean, and charming. The kids enjoyed the little loft sleeping area and the screened in porch was a great place to relax. The owners are lovely, generous and helpful and we all enjoyed visiting with their friendly golden retrievers. I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives and we hope to return for another week next summer.

Peaceful paradise

Cabin is wonderful and decorated in rustic cabin style. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals .The screened in porch is wonderful for meals , drinks , naps ,gets afternoon sun great view and beautiful sunsets . My only suggestion would be a heat source maybe electric fireplace. First morning was very cold untill the afternoon sun hit. Loved my stay would stay again.

Love this place!

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids aged 9 &14) spent a week at Dylan Cottage 2 summers in a row. We LOVED it! The cabin is so comfortable with everything you could possibly need. It's a quick walk down to the lake and all the lake toys - kayaks, SUPs, small sailboats, floats, etc. The boathouse with pool, ping pong, foosball, etc is fun for the kids, too. The tiki bar and adirondack chairs are fun for the adults. The water is warm and clear. The owners, Dave and MB, are awesome people - warm, friendly and welcoming! My daughter adored spending time with their 2 friendly and adorable dogs :) We are taking a break for a vacation out West next summer, but know we will be back to Dylan Cottage again one day!

A Real Gem

I contacted Dave back in February of this year about the availability of the Dylan Cottage for two nights in June when we were planning to attend my nephew's wedding. He was not only prompt and helpful in getting back to me, but he was also very funny as he periodically regaled me with stories through e-mail about getting through one of the worst winters ever experienced in New England. Dave and his wife MaryBeth are not only some of the nicest and gracious people we have ever met, but the whole complex is a real gem. They have obviously put a lot of thought into the entire set-up, and being located on Great East Lake is a bonus as the water is very clear and clean. We loved staying in the Dylan Cottage. It was tastefully decorated, very comfortable, and clean and had everything we needed. Plus we loved the screened-in porch! The cottage and property are well cared for, and we highly recommend staying here as it's such a relaxing and enjoyable place. We do have two regrets: the first is that because we were so busy with wedding activities, we did not have the time to take advantage of the kayaks and SUPs (and the boat ride with Dave); and the second is that we did not stay longer. However, the good news is that when we come back to visit my brother and his wife, we have a wonderful place to stay!

Sweetest fun getaway

Easy. Clear, friendly, thorough communication. Owners were truly the best! We wanted for hardly anything for comfort and our teens had so many fun options for lake and land. Cutest loft cottages.

Fun-filled Stay at Great East Lake Lodge!

Our family of 4 (including two little ones, ages 4 and 8) just returned from a one week stay in the Dylan cottage. The cabin was adorably decorated and fans kept it cool and comfortable. The boys were thrilled to sleep in the loft (keep in mind if you have little ones, you may also find yourself going up and down that ladder)! To kick off our stay, Dave and MB were kind enough to invite us, and the guests from the other cottages on the property, for welcome drinks on the lake. The lake is AMAZING! Crystal clear and calm. We made good use of kayaks, SUPs, snorkels and floats available in the boathouse. When we weren't on the lake or exploring off property, we enjoyed playing basketball and soccer on the court, ping pong and foosball in the game room above the boathouse or lazing about in our cabin with a DVD or game from their collection. We were friendly with the other guests but often had the amenities completely to ourselves. You do not have to step foot off the property to have a good time BUT if you do, you couldn't have a better location from which to explore. The White Mountains, Lake Winnipesaukee, Portsmouth, and coastal attractions of New Hampshire and Maine are all easily accessible. Locally, there was a small supermarket with great meat and baked goods, several cute places to grab a bite to eat, as well as a few antique and specialty stores. In summary, this is a perfect place to spend your vacation!

Slice of Pure New England Magic

Dave and MB keep up a wonderful mini-resort on the shore of a stunning lake. The water was unusually clear, warm, and scum-free, and we wished we booked more time to explore it with the paddle-boards, kayaks, boats, etc they provide. Cottage was clean and quaint - charmingly classic, yet refreshingly updated. Best of all, hosts were helpful, hospitable, and chill. Highly recommend to anyone. We will be staying here again.

The most wonderful place!

My family (2 adults, 2 teens) are about to go back for our 5th summer in a row to Dave and MB's little piece of heaven. We have stayed at the Dylan & Charlotte cabins and also with a large group at the lodge. All are wonderfully decorated- each with a slightly different vibe. All the cabins are thoughtfully equipped with most everything you could need- and if it not in the cabin they have some supplies available in the boat house. Speaking of the boat house, it houses lots of water toys- kayaks, paddle boards, floating devices and indoor activities including ping pong & pool tables. You have lots to do or do nothing at all and relax! The lake is gorgeous, refreshing and clean. But my favorite is meeting down at the lakeside for the sunset with other guests and the hosts. I wait all year to come back and someday hope to stay a few weeks! Oh and the loons lulling you asleep...

Wonderful - couldn't be better !!!

Our cottage was clean and equipped with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the kayaks, SUPs, ping pong, playing pool, swimming, watching the sunsets and just relaxing. It was great to have indoor activities for when the weather wasn't exactly perfect as well as the evenings. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. Our only problem was a week was too short of a stay - thinking about two weeks next year.

Peace Tranquility and Nature

The attention to detail at this location is stunning. The cottage is worthy of a magazine spread as you will note in the pictures. From the sparkling clear lake endless water toys and morning kayak trips to our evening tour of the lake ( compliments of Dave) when we spied an amazing rainbow this property did not disappoint. If you are looking to relax, retreat or reconnect with your family this location has all the ingredients. We saw numerous loons and heard their calls as well as an owl. Thank you MB and Dave we will be back. Debbie and Bill Boatwright

Beautiful lake, lots of loon and a full moon!

A great place from moment one! We were greeted by David and Golden Retrievers Sushi and Mini. David made sure to introduce us to other guests, making us feel like part of the family. We were shown into our lovely and cozy cabin. Cabin was very clean and beautifully done with lots of nice touches - extra fuzzy throw blankets, raccoon and bunny slippers, a s'mores kit and monogrammed tote bag to take home! Then a tour of the complex including boat house, beach front and tiki bar. Lots of wonderful shared amenities. David and MB were often around to chat, check on our stay and offer tourism advise and directions. Mini and Sushi gave us our dog fix! The loons sang us to sleep most nights. We had multiple sightings of a mother and father loon with their chick. Highly recommend booking when a full moon is due. Paddling in the moon light is spectacular, especially when the loons are calling. Great spot for families, retirees, couples - anyone! We'd love to visit again!

About the host

MB & I live in Newburyport, MA with our Golden Retrievers, Mini & Biker. We enjoy entertaining, spending time with friends and traveling. MB's triathlons require lots of training but there is still time to watch the sunsets.

Why they chose this property

It's hard to describe .... that feeling when you know something is just right !!! Sounds crazy that we bought lake property in February but it felt so good and has been even better than we dreamed.

What makes this property unique

The Lodge was built in 1889 and the Cottages were added in the early 1950's so there is yesterday's rustic charm with today's conveniences. The sunsets, clear water, stars above the fire pit and the loons make us all warm & fuzzy.
