We found the property to be amazing with wonderful amenities for an off grid stay. Scott and Shona were great hosts and left us to make the most of the location. The amenities are a credit to their skills. We would definitely stay again if in that area of New Zealand

Our stay was for a few days in Feb 2023. We had everything we could possibly want including quaint touches ; flowers , sheep grazing , sparkling clean facilities and comfy beds . There was plenty of hot water for big long baths , a fireplace , plenty of space to prepare meals . plenty of room to hang out even during Cyclone Gabrielle ! The location is so beautiful set in quiet farmland but super convenient to Rotorua and Taupo . We were looked after with respect and care by Shona and Scott . Thanks guys . Very memorable holiday .

Confortable, clean and rustic. Just what we were looking for! Perfect if you’re a couple looking for glamping, 25-30 min driving to Rotorua town. The place decoration is beautiful and it tells the story of the area. Stunning lights details, looks amazing at night. It has a lake 5 min away driving, I went fishing for the first time and had an awesome experience, thanks so much Scott! We loved the place, Shona and Scott are wonderful hosts we’ll definitely come back.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Shona and Scott made us so welcome sharing local tips and lighting the outdoor fire before we arrived. It’s quirky and very kiwi with a hot bath and a comfy bed - a great winter stay.

Exactly as advertised
You can't ask for much more than the place being exactly as advertised, that is a big plus! Take their "glamping" description to heart though. There is no Wi-Fi, and only a single USB type-A port for electrical plug in. I had to go buy a USB type-A to type-C cable to charge our phones, oops!Scott and Shona are lovely, and the recommendations in their info booklet in the cabin are awesome!

Amazing place!
Unique, rustic accommodation in a beautiful rural setting. Very quirky and interesting, lots of 'finds' and reclaimed items, some re-purposed, as in horses bits for toilet roll holder and towel rail! Scott and Shona were great hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We loved it!

Disconnect from the hustle and bustle in 20th century style
Had a wonderful two night stay at this idyllic hut stuck in time. Was great to fully disconnect and appreciate the countryside and surrounding nature. The close proximity to Rotorua also meant that we were never far from the convenience of a supermarket.Scott and Shona were friendly and thoughtful hosts, and were able to answer all questions we had about the area and gave great recommendations. Can't wait come back again and explore the area some more!

Wonderful minibreak
We had a lovely stay at the hut. It’s in a great location to explore the geothermal sites. We loved being away from the city and being so connected to the outdoors. Scott and Shona are friendly welcoming hosts and the hut is really beautifully handcrafted full of stories. I now want a hut in my backyard!.

Scott and Sharon's Old Hut was quirky and charming. They have put in of thought and attention to detail and the result is a fun, unique and comfy place to stay. It is handy to lots of interesting places, both free and touristy. Scott and Sharon were friendly and had lots of great suggestions about where to go and what to see. Highly recommended!
