About this property

Donegal - Contemporary country home with pool. 4pm check-out Sunday’s

Donegal is a beautiful contemporary county home set on an 89 acre cattle farm and surrounded by beautiful established gardens & farming land with a stunning inground swimming pool.

Nestled between Bowral and Moss Vale you’ll feel a world away as you drive in on a long private gravel road passing other rural properties.

The space:
The sleeping arrangements consist of 3 bedrooms.

Bedroom 1 is a queen bedroom that looks out onto the terrace.

Bedroom 2 has a king bed and adjoins the sunroom.

Bedroom 3 with 2 extra long single beds also adjoins the sunroom.

A great place for little ones to enjoy their own space is the sunroom.

The heart of the home is centered around the open plan living dining and kitchen area with its own fire place.

The fully equipped kitchen includes Smeg electric oven and gas cook top, a butlers pantry and a fabulous large island bench to gather around and enjoy the warmth of the combustion fireplace.

The lounge room has a large leather chaise lounge, a stunning open fireplace, and opens onto the expansive terrace.

The terrace takes prime position overlooking the gardens, dam, rolling expansive lawn and farm lands - perfect for afternoons kicking around the footy or running around with the kids.

Alternatively, enjoy looking on from one of the fabulous day beds whilst enjoying a cool drink!

Also opening onto the terrace is a large dining table which seats 10. If you may prefer, you can dine outdoors under the wisteria around the French style table which seats 8.

We have plenty of board games to play but should you wish to chill out with a movie, there is a large screen smart TV with Foxtel , Netflix and Stan.

The house also has NBN Wi-Fi, surround sound system and gas heating. Firewood is provided gathered and split from the farm.

Guest access:
Guests have access to the immediate expansive gardens and pool area surrounding the property and enjoy the outlook to the cattle and kangaroos which roam the farm acreage .

Only a maximum of 6 guests are permitted to stay on the property.
Please let us know as a written request if you would like visitors.

Other things to note:
The owners have a totally separate dwelling on the farm with separate access that is well away from the main house and you will not be disturbed.

It is also important to note there is an unfenced dam and pond on the property. The dam can be seen in the garden / lawn photos. Please be mindful that the farm is a working farm with cattle & livestock and operating machinery. Thank the

Stunning Location
A brilliant weekend stay for me and 3 friends at Donegal. Beautiful surrounds... make sure you take a walk around the property, so pretty! The house is spacious and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the pool which was the perfect temperature on really hot days. Highlight would be relaxing under the large deck area with stunning views. Great for the soul!Mel was the perfect host and quick to respond to any questions. Thanks for the Shiraz :)Look forward to returning and think this home would be lovely in winter too (big fireplace & heating throughout). Cheers, Sarah

Even better than the photos
We had a wonderful break at this large spacious country house. The setting and views are beautiful. We enjoyed exploring the garden grounds and relaxing on the sunny front deck and on lounge chairs near the pool. It’s 15 mins from Bowral so easy for daily outings.

Just wonderful
We loved this place! The house is large, well equipped and stylish, but most of all it is very comfortable and has a warm sense of welcome. Furniture is very comfy and plentiful and like the kitchen, enough of everything if you were a large group. But thats just the house - the beautiful garden has lots of nooks and crannies to explore, and the pool was very tempting. A lovely, generous private place that felt like it home.

Peaceful, quiet and private getaway
Mel was an accommodating hostess. She was able to make last minute changes to our reservations due to the weather. Our kids enjoyed picking apples, pears, mulberries, peaches and plum from the trees around the dam. When the weather was warm they enjoyed swimming in the pool. On cooler nights we lit the fire place and enjoyed popcorn and a movie. The home had beautiful views. We were able to see sheep, cows and kangaroos from the back porch. There were some spider webs around and in the property, but that is expected when you visit the farm.If you’re looking for a quiet and private getaway. This is the place. Thank you Mel for having us.

How's the serenity... perfect
We had such a great weekend away here. It was perfect. Roomy living area and kitchen for the adults to hang out, chat but also just sit, read a book. The verandah with the daybed, lounges and chairs were perfect for people to just slip away to, for quiet moments sipping tea and enjoying the perfectly framed views, quiet moments and general peacefulness of the area. House, dishes, bedding, bathrooms, everything.. was clean and tidy. So comfortable. Loved the underfloor heating and fireplaces. Cannot ask for a better stay.. maybe a new frying pan :P

Great Tranquil Property
Amazing property with tranquil fee. Loved the dam and landscaping around the house. There were lots of spiders and insects though. Although could have been from the recent heavy rain. Otherwise great stay

Donegal Review
Our stay here at Donegal was really enjoyable and Mel was a fantastic host who was very welcoming to us, very easy to reach, and extremely helpful with check-in and amenities instructions. Donegal itself was a blissful stay, with a very spacious layout, beautiful gardens and big pool to have a dip in. I recommend Donegal to everyone looking for a quiet weekend away.

About the host

I am a mother of 2 boys, 6 and 8, and love the country life in the Southern Highlands on the family farm. Its a great place for families, close to Sydney and the South Coast. The farm offers myself and our family a piece of rural life without any neighbouring houses viewable from our home across the 89 acres. We enjoy running and fattening cattle on the property integrated with some cropping and we'd love to share this taste of rural life with our guests.

Why they chose this property

You cant see anyone or anything for miles from the house. Whilst only 1.5 hours from Sydney and hour to the coast you can feel lost here. We have a 3km private access road past all of our lovely rural farming neighbours.

What makes this property unique

We have plenty of wooded paddocks which allows us to gather and split unlimited fire wood for our guests to enjoy our winter fire places, and in the summer we have a beautiful in ground pool.
