About this property

THE YURT - A round treehouse on the river - boat access only - just magic!

We love our home. Maybe it's the shape, maybe it's the river (boat access only makes it pretty unique and quiet!) ...maybe it's the trees, or the birds... but it's got something magical.

It's beautifully designed, simple, and furnished with some cozy and unique pieces. For us, it's a pleasure to welcome friends and family around to share in this special space - and now we'd like to extend that welcome to you!

Bar Point is a stunning and unique spot on the Hawkesbury River. What makes it so special? You can only get here by boat! Get to Mooney Mooney or Brooklyn, and it's just 10-15 minutes up river. The locals are welcoming, including the array of birds and other wildlife. It's a great spot to relax, hike, fish, swim or explore. Anything you enjoy doing on the river can be done here or close by.

GETTING THERE?
Bar Point is just 10 minutes by boat up River from Mooney Mooney. Most people visiting for a short stay come via water taxi. If you have your own boat you can also park in our jetty spot (for boats 4.7 metres and under). Alternatively, catch The Riverboat Postman from Brooklyn, or even kayak! Transfer may also be available, contact us to discuss.

More about the property:
It's exciting to try and live a more sustainable, 'off-grid' lifestyle – and The Yurt has plenty of features to support this! Rainwater, a 'rot-a-loo' composting toilet, minimal phone reception, and plenty of time amongst the trees.

The Yurt includes for your use one lush bedroom for two, which opens onto a lower balcony with hammocks and seating, a bathroom with shower, an open plan dining and living space, which opens onto a larger balcony with outside dining and BBQ. Both balconies have beautiful, filtered river views.

Guests 3-4 would sleep on a comfortable fold-out in the living room.

The house includes all the necessary mod-cons (at least we think so as we live here!), WiFi, aircon, etc.

Super relaxing weekend away

My partner and I had a weekend stay here for our wedding anniversary and left super relaxed and happy. The yurt was cosy and comfortable - a perfect place to hole up for the weekend and relax, read a book and cook up great meals in the full kitchen. The balcony had a nice view over the tree tops, the bed was comfortable and we made full use of the projector to watch movies at night. Our trip here on the Riverboat postman was also so nice. We would absolutely love to visit again!

Beautiful stay on the water

The house was very clean, had everything you needed, and little helpful notes were left around the place. Loved being out in nature and waking up to the birds and wildlife. Such a special place. Would advise to bring some additional water as the filter didnt refill as quickly as we were drinking it

A unique adventure

We loved everything about our stay here. The owners were easy to communicate with and we appreciated the nice touch of a bottle of wine on arrival. They property was clean and very comfortable and we had the best time exploring the waterways and coming back to our treehouse for a movie night with the projector, board games and feasting on our days catching. The locals are friendly and there was so much for our kids to see and do. A great getaway in nature! Thanks Lis & Basti!

Fisherman's Paradise

The yurt is such a great design which gives you almost 360 degree views of the river .Relaxing holiday spent reading in the hammock in the shade with a lovely summer breeze .Great fishing from a boat off Bar point or from the cottages jetty. Internet connection and projector essential for teenage children. Well presented. Centrally located not to far from Brooklyn Marina.

Riverside Getaway

Our stay at The Yurt was fantastic! We had just gotten married in a small ceremony, and the hosts left us a sweet message and a bottle of sparkling wine which was so kind. The property is beautiful & suited us really well with its projector, hammocks & guitars. We'll have to come back again to try and find the six person hammock up the back! Thanks for a great weekend.

Tranquil and Stunning! Can’t recommend enough!

We had a lovely time renting this home! We took a short water-taxi trip from Kangaroo Point and stayed for 3 nights. The house is beautifully designed and decorated, with many sustainable features. We highly recommend renting a dingy if you do not have a boat, since we enjoyed most of our holiday exploring Berowra Creek and relaxing at The Yurt listening to the birds. This place is a nature lovers dream and we would recommend it to anyone! Thank you Lis and Basti!

Romantic remote getaway

We loved staying at the Yurt. We especially enjoyed the sustainable way of living. Beautiful views of the Hawkesbury, huge balcony, well equipped (special to watch a movie via projector), great bush walks and a great location to explore the river by boat.

Hawkesbury Riverside Retreat

We thoroughly recommend the Yurt as a place to relax and enjoy the peaceful natural riverside setting. We spent three nights there travelling from the boat ramp at Deerubbun Reserve by water taxi which is $100 each way. The accomodation is clean and tidy, comfortably furnished and very warm and welcoming. Many thanks to Lis and Basti who are thoughtful and accommodating hosts.

Perfect Get Away - Comfortable, Private, Lovely and Relaxing

I would highly recommend staying in The Yurt if you are after a peaceful and relaxing time away. The space is designed and decorated so well we felt like we were in a very cool very beautiful treehouse-home-away-form-home. The kitchen has everything you would need and the living spaces are great — dining table, couches around a coffee table, and chairs and table on the deck! Whilst there are other residences nearby we honestly felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and had all the quiet and privacy that you would hope for. The setting is fantastic, looking into the trees and across the water... one could enjoy it all from the deck or take a short walk down to the river's edge. And the hosts are excellent, we felt so welcome in their home and the little messages left by them communicated everything we would need to know to make the most of our time in THE YURT. Also note: five stars for comfort, privacy, well-equipped and totally relaxing.
