Your family and friends will enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and simply taking it easy, as you watch the peaceful river slide by. Riverside Canoe Outfitters is situated nearby, to conveniently set you up with any needed equipment or instruction. The New River State Park King Creek and Visitors' Center are within 5 minutes of the cabin.

From the cabin, it's only a 2-minute walk to the neighborhood's gazebo common area, great for picnics and get-togethers. From there, hike 6 minutes to the picturesque common area directly on the New River, featuring a large stone firepit. The common area also provides parking if you prefer to drive to the river.

The cabin has two very spacious decks – one on each level of the home. From the decks you can soak in the hot tub, relax, read, sip a beverage, or dine al fresco, enjoying the serenity of the wooded mountain setting. Corn hole is also available for friendly competitions.

On the main level of the house, you'll find an open floor plan with kitchen, dining and great room. The kitchen is nicely equipped with stainless appliances and everything you'll need for entertaining or large family meals at home. When you feel like dinner out, you're lucky to be very near the Red Dog Restaurant, with comfortable upscale dining and rave reviews! After a big day, gather around the fireplace for some warm cabin ambiance.

The master bedroom is also conveniently located on the main level, and equipped with a king-size bed. The bathroom on this level includes a tub and shower combination. Downstairs you'll find three additional bedrooms, two with queen beds and one sporting a full bed as well as a twin. There's also a sleeping nook with a full-size futon, to accommodate additional guests. The bathroom on this level also offers a tub/shower combo and there's a washer and dryer as well. Both levels of the home have access to large covered decks.

The Indian Cave Way Log Cabin is located in the northern part of Ashe County, near the Virginia border. From the cabin, downtown West Jefferson is less than 30 minutes away. There you'll enjoy the many quaint shops, galleries, farmer's market and restaurants, as well as the famous Ashe County Cheese. Craft beer is brewed in town at Boondocks and the New River Brewery, and fine dining is available at Craft Bistro. This is small-town Americana at its finest.

Don't forget to take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's most beautiful road, with some of the country's most awe-inspiring views and photo opps. Of course, with direct access to the New River, you'll want to spend time enjoying water adventures such as kayaking, canoeing, tubing, fishing and swimming. Other High Country recreation opportunities include fishing, hunting, zip-lining, cave exploration, mining for gems, and more.

From the cabin, it's also only 30 minutes to Grayson Highlands State Park, where wild ponies will greet you up on the Massie Gap Trail. Come in the spring and you might see the foals. The park provides great hiking, a replica of a historic mountain settlement, an interesting exhibit of the history of the area, and more. Classic Rustic Cabin

Really lovely place in the woods. Incredible wildlife seen too and just a little walk to the river. The beds are super comfortable and the cabin is well stocked with excellent appliances and the WiFi is exceptional. Never lost signal once. Awesome fire pit and relaxed environment. Truly a nice place to stay. Outstanding support from host and Vrbo too.

Labor day getaway

This is a house in a neighborhood that we have stayed in before. Drop the kayaks in at the state park and land at the bottom of the neighborhood. The house is right next to the "Indian Cave" and up the hill from a little water fall. The house is up a steep hill secluded from the rest of the development and very quiet. The house is 20 years old and it is showing signs of age, railing to the fire pit was rotten. Washer did not work and dryer took an hour and a half to dry a small load of clothes. There were issues with the water heater so we had to take 3 minute showers, and the water had a strong sulfur smell. There was no internet service for the weekend and was never fixed. All in all we made the best of the situation.

70th birthday trip

We enjoyed our visit, the house was a wonderful space with excellent amenities. Short walk to the river or can drive to a different access in the community. Visited West Jefferson and went tubing. Hot tub and fire pit were a hit with our family. Would recommend adding a map of some sort to show how to get to river access both in the community and via walking trail behind gazebo. We enjoyed and hope to visit again!

Great Getaway Cabin

We had a very lovely stay! The cabin was spacious and we had great walks along trails close by. I will call out that the description is misleading as there's no access to the river. Also the outside furniture had not been wiped down prior to our stay so was covered in pollen. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Relaxing

Loved the location. The neighborhood road was a bit tricky but we liked that there was no traffic and no noise! We all loved the hot tub!

Wonderful Property & Stay

We absolutely loved the cabin and plan on coming back for another stay. The location was private and quiet. The house was beautiful inside and out and very spacious, it's the perfect place to get away for a few days. Definitely plan to bring food prior because the grocery store is about 30 min away. Also, don't recommend driving late at night due to the windy roads and deer. The hot tub worked great and the fire pit outside was huge and so cozy. Everything was as promised! Recommendations for property management: -better lighting near hot tub and outdoor fire pit

Fun weekend getaway

The house had everything we needed. It easily accommodated 9 adults. The only suggestion I have would be to replace the shower heads, that water pressure was brutal.

Very Nice weekend!

Nice cabin! Kitchen stocked with what we needed. Nice beds. Nice living room. Only two negatives…roll and 1/2 roll of toilet paper. (And your miles from a place to buy more). Photos on VRBO a bit misleading. Not on the river. Otherwise…nice cabin!

True Mountain Vacation

Such a great location. Wooded area and secluded from other houses. Very private. Lots of room in house with wrap around porches on both levels so even if it rained we had lots of room to enjoy outside. WiFi was awesome. Everything was great. Close to River with beautiful nature walks.

Perfect for a family vacation

The house was perfect for a family vacation for 5 adults and a teenager. The pictures show the wonderful property. The hot tub is on the lower deck (where the porch swing is shown in pictures). The kitchen is well equipped to fix any meal. The beds were very comfortable in each room. The deck has two hammocks and plenty of seating to enjoy the peaceful setting. There are a couple of ways to access the river. Red Dog is a great restaurant close by with delicious food and excellent service, when you don't want to cook! Blue Ridge Parkway provided outstanding views on our trip to Blowing Rock. West Jefferson was also an enjoyable trip with a quaint town and a wonderful place to purchase produce. Riverside Canoeing provided a fun activity for the family on the New River. The property manager was quick to reply with questions and check out was a breeze. It is a beautiful home. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Nice new rental

Beautiful house in a great location. We didn't have a gate key in our check in instructions ans would have been great to have turn by turn directions included as well. But overall, it was a beautiful house that fit our needs well!
