This warm north facing inviting family sized lockwood home is set up a small walkway of stairs with views towards North Cove. Watch the coming and goings of the tide at your doorstep, or venture down to the wharf for some fishing. You can not help but relax the minute you step onto the island. Listen to the tuis during the day and the kiwis at night.
The property is located a short 5 minute walk along the shoreline from the Starboard Arm Wharf where the ferry or water taxi can drop you off. A mooring for your boat (if you wish to bring one) is included. There is plenty to do with lots of bush walks to other bays, kayaking, swimming, diving, fishing or just stopping and listening to the birdlife. You could visit Mansion House Museum and stop for a coffee at the cafe, or a beer and burger at the Kawau Yacht Club if you don't want to cook dinner.
The house has 2 queen sized bedrooms, one bedroom with two single beds and the bunk room has 2 sets of bunks however it is not closed off like a bedroom. There is two bathrooms (one ensuite) and one toilet and basin downstairs.
Kawau Island is a unique and very special island. There are no cars or shops. You will need to bring all your supplies with you. The Yacht Club does have a few supplies if you run low. Parking is available at Sandspit just out of Warkwarth where you can park your car and catch the Kawau Ferries if you choose. Timetable is available online.
Other things to note
Please bring your own bed linen, bath linen and beach towels. We have to conserve water as we have rainwater tanks.
There are plenty of tea towels, hand towels and dish cloths available.
We are situated on a tidal estuary. You have a window of 2 hours either side of high tide if you wish to bring your boat to our doorstep to load or unload.
Leave the property as you found it. Clean and tidy. If you wish for a cleaner please advise.
