About this property

Nestled under a 300 year old gum tree is a mud brick studio. Adjacent to, but separate and private from the main house. Spacious but cosy open plan with air conditioning and electric log fire. North facing to capture the winter sun and a patio to sit and enjoy the stunning bush views. Well in off the road to enjoy the bird life and the natural environment.

With a single open plan area it sleeps 2 adults comfortably. Queen sized bed with electric blanket. Fold out sofa bed (double) perfect for small children. (Not suitable for adults) The sleeping area, kitchen and TV area are all open together with a seperate bathroom.

Full kitchen with china, cutlery and glassware for 4 people. Wine glasses provided. Glass Cooktop, (No oven) Microwave, snack maker, air fryer plus cookware and microwave containers. Out door bbq also.
Guests may explore our 24 acre property and browse the extensive garden of mostly Australian native plants.

PETS are welcome indoors but we do ask that they do not sleep on the beds. The yard is fully enclosed and is a safe space for dogs to stay in.

A short 5 minute drive to our local village (Strathfieldsaye) for supplies, fuel or a meal. 10-15 minute drive to Bendigo for all it has to offer. Outstanding art gallery and restaurants. Magnificent heritage buildings.

We are within easy cycling distance to the O’Keefe rail trail (6kms.)

A great central location to visit Castlemaine, Maldon, Echuca or the wineries.

A relaxing long weekend escape

The Studio under the gum tree was such a perfect escape for 2 nights. The studio was so beautifully presented, comfortable & welcoming. The property was lovely to walk & explore, Jan & David have done so much planting of native trees & bushes to attract the birds .. so much life to watch, with a variety of birds visiting the flowering bushes outside the door, & kangaroos sun baking or hopping around in the paddocks, in full view through the large living room windows as you relax on the couch. We took our two fur babies, Molly & Bunso, with us & they had the best holiday as well with so much space to run & explore with us without even getting in the car. The whole area was very welcoming to dogs, & it was wonderful to find so many parks & reserves permitting dogs on leash. We walked in the Greater Bendigo National Park, which was full of wildflowers on our visit; & visited Honeyeater Bushland Reserve, which is a community action group project for bushland conservation in Junortoun, a nearby town We highly recommend The Studio, it's a truly beautiful & welcoming stay

Everything was perfect and all facilities in place and working. Perhaps maybe something that could be put on top of the pull out lounge/ bed mattress to make it a bit more comfortable.

What more could we want?

The Studio was a lovely place to stay. Even though basically one room it had everything we needed for a relaxing few days. Our hosts, Jan & Tony, were very friendly & helpful. A beautiful, peaceful place for a relaxing holiday.

A wonderful location

We had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay with David and Jan. The property description is very accurate and accommodated us and our four legged companions comfortably. We would highly recommend the property if you want to get away from the rat race and have some quiet R&R.

A beautiful property, in a peaceful location. The cottage has everything you need, including essential pantry items for making meals (oil, sauce, S+P). Great enclosed area for your dog to explore. Do recommend!

Idyllic Spot for a Break

We really enjoyed our stay at the studio under the gum tree. We found the space and set up ideal for our needs while travelling with our two pups. The large living space was comfortable and everything we needed was provided with a kitchen that made the prep of simple meals easy. The location was also ideal, being a short distance from Bendigo in a quiet bushland setting. The perimeter fence allowed for space for our pups to explore in safety and we enjoyed sitting on the deck to take in the view. Jan provided an extra night stay for us on our return journey home as we headed off to the Gippsland region before heading back through Bendigo to return to Adelaide. It was a pleasure to return to the studio for that night of rest. We hope to stay again at some stage and explore the local area.

Tranquil Bush Retreat
