About this property

Secluded 10 Acre Cottage with Canoes, Kayaks and Fun!

Surround yourself with nature- not neighbours. 4 season cottage with a fresh, sunny interior and a serene waterfront. Canoes and kayak are available to our guests. Sleeps up to 7.

This charming year round cottage is tucked in from the road and surrounded by 10 acres of forest. There is not a neighbour in site!

Make memories at the serene waterfront or relax with a morning coffee in the screened-in porch. Enjoy starlight and sh'mores around the campfire after a day of swimming and horseshoes! It is bright, open and comfortable with a large lawn, deck space and screened in porch for family bonding. With full laundry, amazing drinking water and full septic, life is easy at the cottage!

‘The Lazy Moose Cottage’ has been a family cottage for many years and we love sharing it. It sits safely uphill from the Magnetawan River, and at the mouth of beautiful Pickerel lake (about a 3 minute paddle)

The space is ideal for a couple or small family. It can sleep 7 very comfortably. The primary bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a queen bed with a single bunk above it. There is a single trundle bed as well when needed. A luxury studio is available for families needing extra space but is only available in spring, summer and fall. It’samazing!

Besides the campfire, horseshoes, water toys and lawn games, we also provide a collection of books, magazines and board games.

Without wifi or TV, guests may enjoy a digital detox. Depending on your phone provider though, our guests are able to ‘hot spots'.

During the winter months:

A winter rental at ‘The Lazy Moose’ is perfect for the adventurous types that looks forward to the reward of a secluded winter wonderland.

Guests park at the road and hike in. We will shovel the parking spot between stays, but if it snows during a stay, guests are responsible for clearing out their car. We provide a shovel and a large sled.

The trail from the roadside into the cottage is 200m long. It takes about 5 min. car to cottage.
There is also potential for a power outage. Welcome to cottage country!! :) We leave an emergency propane heater with a C02 detector as daytime back up. The cottage is well insulated, heats up and retains heat well.

The Lazy Moose is a perfect quiet getaway for small groups and families only. This rental is not suitable for groups looking to party. The cottage is pet friendly when approved beforehand.
If you have a larger group (up to 12) we also ocassionally rent out an amazing little cabin on the neighbouring property.

In summer:
-Canoes, kayaks and paddle boat.
-Outdoor seating at the fire pit and waterfront
-Spring water from the tap (thanks to a deep drilled spring well).

Loved it!

Everything was lovely! Well equipped kitchen, very comfortable and cozy cottage. We were lucky to have great weather for mid September and took advantage of the surprisingly awesome swimming. Challenging local hikes were great, and our doggie was in heaven. And the quiet!!!! So absolutely peaceful. Thank you.

Tranquility and peace

Really nice cottage and host. Comfortable bedrooms and kitchen. Very nice place to paddle if you live canoeing and kayaking. We saw turtles, herons, ducks, geese, Bluejays, hummingbirds and enjoyed beakfast hearing loons in the distance.

Cottage by the water

This hinterland cottage is an exceptional wooded escape- just down a short path was the water and a beautiful patio area and boats! The screened porch was my favorite afternoon reading place. We were so grateful for the use of the house. There was no screens and we loved crafting and coloring and taking a break from the bustle. Town does have Wi-Fi and service if you needed anything. The cottage is cozy, comfortable and beautiful. The town was amazing and had wonderful local food and shopping. We stayed busy checking out trails and all the historical, beautiful locations all within short trips or day trips. The owners communicated extremely well too and it was no contact check in and check out.
