Very good, but needs some TLC

Location of this cabin is great, it is very private to the other cabins. Unsure if this is the case all the time, but there was a shed with free firewood. 15 min to Helen and 5 min to a Dollar General. -Needs more silverware and plates and cups. Has maybe 3 spoons, 3 forks, 2 butter knives, 2 steak knives. About 5 plates and 4 very shallow bowls, could almost be plates. 3 glasses, 2 wine glasses, and 2 wine flutes. -Needs more supplies. We were there for a 6 days: 1 roll of paper towels, 3 rolls of toilet paper, 2 pods for clothes washer, 4 dishwasher pods(with little silverware whatnot we were running the dishwasher everyday), 4 garbage bags with a small garbage can(it fills up quickly). -Fireplace needs a chimney cleaning. The damper full open, visually confirmed open, smoke would still come in the room. -Hot tub, yes it "works". First it needs an external heating element to hang in the water. Second, turn on the hot tub to heat it up. It only runs for maybe 10 minutes before you need to turn it on again to keep heating it up. One night it took 3 hours(multiple times turning it on) to get the water temperature from 80 to 100. It was not even a cold night, it was in the 50s/60s. We were told from property manager, the hot tub part was to be delivered the next day... it was not. Even when we checked out 3 days later, it was still not. I know that it seems like a lot for negatives, but all easily fixable. If your a guest and can be a bit intuitive to figure things out.

Don’t do it!

We arrived at "The Get Away" cabin on the evening of August 31st. As we were almost to our cabin driving along the gravel drive, we were greeted by a large group of occupants just standing in the middle of the drive that all but refused to move out of the way. I did not count but would venture to say there were at least 30 people around an area of 3 to 4 cabins right beside ours. Our biggest reason for choosing "The Getaway" was the seclusion (none) and the hot tub. First thing we noticed once at the cabin was the non-working hot tub that was partially heated with a cattle trough warmer. The warmer was literally zip tied to a MOLDY broom stick, plugged into a drop cord, and laid into the water. There was obviously no chlorine in the tub either considering the mold on the broom stick and floating on top of the water. The cabin is heated/cooled with a single wall unit. When we first entered the cabin, it was noticeably humid and warm. I turned the thermostat as low as it would go and we still sweated through the night. There is also no fan in the bedroom. Fast forward to the next morning. We wake up hoping for coffee. Open up the water reservoir on the coffee maker and it is absolutely disgusting on the inside. At this point we packed our things and left a day early into a 2 night stay. The owners refused to refund us the 1 night and only offered a complimentary 2 night stay in a cabin that we had an awful experience at.

Terrific Service

The property manager checked in with us . Admitted up front the hot tub had some issues . We didn't get to use it as it was not warming up. He offered for us to go swim in the big house pool. We declined. We really appreciated his honesty and sincerity . It didn't bother us the hot tub wasn't working . Great customer service.

Loved the screened porch w/ the hot tub.

Good: Clean and decent area. Porch was very nice with the hot tub. Opportunities: No light at stove/microwave and also not working over sink. No fan in bedroom. Ad showed gas grill, but was charcoal so we didn’t know to bring charcoal.

Perfect little weekend get away

We stayed here for a short weekend babymoon getaway and it was the perfect distance to downtown Helen. Will be recommending to our family and friends.

Perfect for a quiet getaway!

Quaint little cabin

My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend getaway in this cabin. It was clean and had all the things you need to just take it easy for the weekend. The area is so quiet and peaceful. We had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent cabin, just a few small things

Everything in the cabin was good. There was not enough towels for the hot tub and showers. Also the hot tub would not heat up enough to enjoy sitting in it. As well as some bubble slime floating on top of the water. Also had trouble with the internet and trying to connect it to the roku. Everything else was good in the cabin.

Very nice cabin.

The cabin was as advertised. Clean, all appliances etc worked as stated. Close to Helen, Clarksville, Cleveland. Overall a very good stay. Only exception is that the hot tub did not work all the time. And no one with the property management ever contacted us with check in instructions even after we directly messaged the management company through VRBI. Finally had to contact VRBO directly to get them to contact the property managers to get the check in instructions. Like i said a very nice cabin. We Would stay there again. Just need better communication to your renters and make sure hot tub operates properly.

Happy Ending

Our overall experience was good. The cabin was the perfect size for the 2 of us and was in the perfect place for convenience to the race sight and to Helen. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire place. Our stay did not start off as well though. When we arrived, the temperature in the cabin was 49 degrees. It was colder in the cabin than it was outside. We couldn't get the heater to work, so we called the property contact. He came and couldn't get it to work either. He did return with several space heaters. With the space heaters and a fire in the fireplace, we were able to get more comfortable within about 2 or 3 hours. My husband was able to get the heater started later that night. Also, the hot tub was cold when we arrived, so we couldn't use it until Saturday. We had hoped to use it both nights we were there. The trash from the last stay was still on the porch when we arrived and the towels and sheets from the last stay were still in the drier. We weren't early in our arrival. It was actually around 5:00. Once we got past the first night, everything was great. We do feel that someone should ensure the cabin is at a comfortable temperature before guests arrive.

Anniversary Trip

My husband and I enjoyed our two-night stay at The Get Away to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The hot tub was easy to use as well. The only thing we wished we would have brought was a lighter or something to start a fire in the fireplace. The cabin was a brief drive to Helen where we enjoyed some great food, shopping, and beautiful scenery! Recommend!!
