Property was very clean and up to date. Small sitting area off kitchen looking over small but nicely kept back yard was very nice for coffee in the morning. Neighborhood was quiet and convenient for all we did, and the host was very accommodating. Very enjoyable stay.

Second verse same as the first.

Every word describing this cozy cottage is true. It is a very clean home that is centrally located to many sites and neighborhoods. The host is not only available to assist you during your stay, she has prepared a 'welcome book' that will guide you to everything Winston-Salem has to offer. We (including our furry pup) highly recommend this getaway!!

Great home and location for our month of remote work

This charming bungalow was perfect for our month of working remotely and exploring Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. Patricia really thought of everything we might need, and was extremely responsive to our questions. The kitchen was large and well equipped. Beds were comfy. Bathrooms were modern with good water pressure. Front porch was nice for sitting and the fenced back yard provided a safe place to store our bikes when we weren't riding them. Downtown was 5 minutes by car and also accessible by bike or on foot. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

Wonderful place!

We completely enjoyed staying at this property. The house is refinished to perfection with so many lovely details. We took numerous pictures to use as ideas for when we build our next home in a couple years! Patricia was welcoming and responsive and we never wanted for anything. The location is convenient and very accessible. It is in a bit of a transitional neighborhood but safety was never a concern or consideration. We will be back!

Pleasing and comfortable craftsman

Laurel St is perfect in every way. It has a huge kitchen that is well supplied. Comfy beds and good showers. You can use your Apps to stream entertainment or watch live TV and on Demand through YouTube Live. The decor, design and craftsman sensibility in all the rooms makes the house very soothing and pleasing. There are neighborhood streets just outside the door and walking/biking trails in Old Salem just 4 or 5 streets away if you’re a daily Walker or runner like me. 5 stars for Patricia’s place.

Host profile image
I am originally from the UK, but have now made Winston-Salem my home where I find all the things I most enjoy: history in Old Salem (which reminds me of an English country village), the arts - great theaters, galleries, UNCSA and Reynolda House; excellent restaurants and bakeries catering for all tastes; wonderful trees and flowers and scenic countryside; super friendly people; trips to wineries, state parks, and easy road trips further afield to the coast or other cities and states. I hope you will enjoy staying in my beautiful house ... I have tried to think of all that I would like to find in a vacation rental. I live in West Salem and thoroughly enjoy the area, walking my small poodle in Old Salem and Washington Park, making my way downtown on the lovely, shady Strollway, enjoying the arts at UNCSA, and visiting all the nearby coffee shops and restaurants.

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this pretty house when I first walked inside and saw the beautiful, long entrance hall and realized that a lot of the house's architectural features were still intact. Eight months of hard work and love have restored it to the vision I had when I first encountered it. I am strongly considering moving here one day when I need a little less space. In the meantime, I am so pleased that the guests I have already hosted love it almost as much as me :)

What makes this property unique

I love the proximity to Old Salem and downtown and the quietness of the street. I love the layout of the house with the bedrooms off to the left of the beautiful hall, and the living space off to the right. I love the gorgeous kitchen, a chef's dream! I love the cozy sitting room and the cute pass through to the dining room, the tall ceilings, the beautiful wood floors, the sweet little porch room at the back, the private, pretty backyard, the gorgeous porch and swing. In fact I love everything about this house!
