This property was perfect for us and our dog. Beautiful views and house had everything we needed. No phone or Internet, which helped us to relax and close to Opotiki for supplies. Only improvement would be the mattresses, otherwise very
We had a wonderful visit. Weather was good, house was warm and cosy. It had everything we needed. I can recommend it.

Last Motu Challenge
We stayed here as two of our party in the last Motu Challenge. Great location, close to Opotiki, close to beach. Would be better if wifi or phone coverage was better as we are from different locations and difficult without phone coverage to pass on messages, check weather etc, meet other friends staying closeby etc. But the view is lovely and would love to return - hopefully the Motu will be resurrected in time!
Myself, my husband and our three kids wanted somewhere relaxing to stay, out of the hustle bustle of city life and work stressors. We stayed for three nights and it was absolutely exactly what we needed. The style is very old school bach styles, which we loved. There was games and lots of toys for the kids which was really great. The deck is amazing and it really is as if you’re sitting in the tree tops looking over the sea. It’s a hop skip jump away from the beach. The only downside I would say would be the $60 for an “extra guest” where that extra guest was my third child. Especially when it’s set up with plenty of beds (2 singles, 2 sets of bunks, a double and a pull out couch) so I felt that extra guest fee for one of my children was a bit odd. Except for that, lovely lovely little home and we are very grateful we got to stay, so thank you very much. Cup is full 💛
The house at Treetops reminded me of a childhood home - so warm and cosy, not too modern but everything worked just fine for us. The birdies busy in the trees around the veranda occasionally distracted us from the amazing views of the ocean and and the far horizon, and the nearby special reserve. Walking on that almost deserted sandy beach tempted us into a swim and maybe it was just the sunshine but it didn't even seem cold. The area was unexpectedly beautiful, hard to express our delight at where we lucked into. Sandee was really helpful and nice and kept us well informed. Thank you!
This was a beautiful stay. The fact there is no WIFI was the highlight because we got to enjoy each other go down to beach.
It was perfect thank you Sandy. The best host ever
Lovely location to relax. Weather was perfect in early Feb for a couple of swims a day. The house has all that you require including wonderful views of the beach. Our whole family enjoyed the trip. Th e manager of property was friendly and supplied plenty of information about the area and property. Many thanks.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again, the comments below are not a deal breaker for us.
Just a few friendly suggestions, use it, don't use it:
- Ensure the dog fee of $20 is communicated in the property cost upfront, no one likes surprises
- Ensure the detail what "linen included" really means
- The kitchen drawers have no handles, so very difficult to open
- The normal utensils, "Knives and forks" can do with a refresh
- Bathroom is very dark, can do with better lightning
We chose this property for its dog friendly status and its enclosed deck for our one year old puppy. We were delighted with our choice not only for the dog but for its humans. It was clean and tidy, perfectly old school and just what we needed. Communication with Sandee was excellent and her generosity in lending us an extender lead much appreciated. Having left something of value at the Bach, I am further impressed with Sandee’s care and consideration. All round this is a great place to stay. Thank you.
The property was perfect for our stay and the proximity to the beach was great. The house was comfortable and we managed to relax. Bryan’s Beach is a hidden gem and perfect for us to help celebrate a relatives 98th birthday.
In spite of the rain we all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The home was clean, homely and cosy and listening to just the surf and birds was brilliant.
The communication was friendly and helpful with messages answered right away on both sides. I highly recommend Tree Tops for a peaceful getaway
We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay. So much bird life right outside your door, stunning beach views and the house has all you need. We will return, thank you for having us and our furbaby.
Loved staying at this Bach having a peaceful holiday wiping away recent stresses.
We had issue with hot water which Sandee was good at following up on, although not repaired before we left we were able to use logfire wetback system to heat water. Bach does need more firewood soon.
With minimal phone coverage and no wifi it was a nice change to escape devices and make use of the variety of books available when not exploring the local surrounds. A great place to stay and we will be back!
Thanks for another great weekend at the Bach. We had a great time! we were very lucky with the weather what is always good! Love how quiet it is and how close it is to the beach. Very kid friendly! we will be back.
We spent a lovely long weekend here. This is a comfortable bach with everything we needed. It was private and peaceful, surrounded by trees, with views of the sea. The deck had a gate either end and was secure for our dog to wander round. The National Park is a short distance away with dogs allowed on lead.
