Cascade Head Salmon River Getaway

Take in the picturesque views and dive into all of the area's thrilling outdoor activities with your group of up to four at this cozy one-bedroom home at Cascade Head Ranch. A bright and inviting space that's been updated with modern conveniences, the perfect refuge at the end of a day of activity and a tranquil oasis. Tucked into the evergreen woodlands at the mouth of the Salmon River, where it empties into the Pacific Ocean, this home offers parking for up to two vehicles and plenty of nearby opportunities for play in the great outdoors. Admire the panoramic views and breathtaking coastline on a hike up the Cascade Head Trail, take advantage of fishing, crabbing, kayaking, canoeing or other boating activities in the beautiful Salmon River, or take in a scenic short drive south to reach Devils Lake for even more fishing, boating, and stand-up paddleboarding.

Boasting an open floor plan, the inspired interior is filled with contemporary furnishings, ocean-themed decor, and modern conveniences, including stainless steel kitchen appliances. Kick off your shoes to relax in the living area, where you'll find a comfortable sectional couch and gorgeous views of the river and ocean from oversized picture windows. Flip on the flatscreen TV to see whats on, or pull out one of the home's board games and enjoy some group bonding time.

When it's time to eat, savor grilled salmon fillets or other local fare whipped up in the full kitchen. Its updated appliances and ample countertops will assist in all of your cooking endeavors, and its assorted cookware makes the job quick and easy. Enjoy group meals at the nearby wooden table, or take your breakfast, lunch, or dinner onto the outdoor deck by the grill for its panoramic coastline views. There's even a huge Sitka spruce tree that grows through the deck, preserving the woodland aesthetic.

Rise with the morning sunshine over the gorgeous view of the river and ocean and get ready for a new day of adventures. Brew a fresh cup of coffee to shake off any lingering sleep, then take in all that Cascade Head Ranch has to offer, including perhaps a visit to the extremely isolated ocean beach at the mouth of the river that can be seen from the home, but can only be accessed by boat. Or, take an easy day trip into Lincoln City (10 miles south) for its restaurants, boutiques, and even live entertainment. Keep going south to find the charming Nye Beach neighborhood of Newport (34 miles south) with more shopping and dining options along its boardwalk, or head north on Highway 101 for a day in Pacific City (about 19 miles), where you can pick up a fresh microbrew paired with a delicious meal at the Pelican Pub & Brewery. Cascade Head Ranch is extremely well located to either stay close or venture out.

A little slice of heaven

Loved the place - from the view, the floorplan, the comfy furniture, the abundance of extras for our comfort and entertainment. We've stayed here before and would love to come back!

Excellent!

This adorable house was the perfect spot for my family (myself, husband, 13 year old daughter and 11year old son). It was cozy, well stocked, comfortable and clean. The view is beautiful and the elk and wildlife are a a treat! We wish we had been there longer and would love to return.

It was peaceful, quiet, with wonderful views of a beach and rocky cliff. The home has comfortable furniture and bed, all the equipment and extras you need for a relaxing time - I can't say enough good about it. Loved our stay!

Quiet in nature and spacious views

Small and cozy, this is a perfect place for a writer's retreat or curled up with a good book in front of the fire, the views out over the ocean are enchanting and the deck is wonderful.

Heaven on Earth!

We stayed the week for our honeymoon and being from Wisconsin, we thought it was the most perfect place we could have picked. Secluded, quiet, breathe taking views, enough stuff to just go to the store and grab food to make for dinner, the people of Otis (the gas station, the pizzeria, and the dispensary workers we interacted with) were all the nicest people, even the drivers on the road were kind! I could go for hours about why I recommend this stay, the price for what you get is well worth it. We will be back for our 5 year anniversary ❤️

Getaway treehouse

This is easily in our top two places on the coast. I didn't know it was a nature reserve when I reserved it but we saw Elk, beautiful scenery, excellent hiking, comfortable seating and beds. Just remember to bring a kayak or paddle board so you can get to the secluded beach across the river.

Bliss

Our stay here was wonderful. The home was very tidy and clean, and the views cannot be understated. The drive is a little nerve-wracking in spots, but the natural peace and tranquility of the destination are more than worth it. I highly recommend this spot if an immersion in Oregon's natural beauty is what you need!

Secluded cabin with beautiful view

This small home has the best view of the Salmon River estuary and beach. The recently remodeled home is attractive and functional. I loved the cozy gas fireplace and the well equipped kitchen. The road to the cabin is narrow and has some sharp corners. It also has an elk herd you may see. The cabin is close to several other houses but they are masked by the trees that surround the home. The deck that faces the ocean is a great place to take in the view. All in all a peaceful and comfortable place.

Great little home in the woods

This little home has everything and was clearly built with love. The view is lovely and the home is cozy. Be sure to download the route on your map app as it is difficult to find offline. The only downside is navigating the stairs for middle of the night bathroom trips.

Beautiful place in a beautiful setting!

Though a bit challenging to find, especially in the dark, this place is well worth the hunt! We loved everything about this home. Note to yourself that there is no coffee, oil, or even salt and pepper provided, unless you got lucky and something was left behind by previous guests.

Beautiful ocean view in the forest

This a great LITTLE property. Wonderful, peaceful setting in the forest with an ocean view of Cascade Head. We saw the elk herd several times and a doe with twin fawns. It was quiet and peaceful with nearby hiking trails and a public boat launch where we put in our kayaks. However, the beds are incredibly uncomfortable and I had to try to sleep on a twin mattress on the floor for 3 nights. The mattress on the full sized bed is lumpy soft with no support. Upgrade the mattresses and you will have an unbeatable spot on the coast. Also be aware there is one bathroom only downstairs.

Sweetest space!

Super-cozy! The only thing that would have made it cozier would be the addition of a teapot. Small thing. The location was great. We were warm. Lots of walking possible. Some folks would not enjoy this space because the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom downstairs. The gas fireplace heat added to the cozy factor. Lots of beautiful views. I want to go back. (OH, we were deterred from the correct road because a sign says "private road," so it took us a couple tries to find it. Put "private road" in the directions.)

Beautiful cabin!

The house was very nicely updated and fresh looking inside. The one big issue we had was there were no night in the bathroom that worked. When we contacted VACASA about this issue, because they would come and check it out, that never happened.

Nice home with a great view, even talked to the neighbors who gave me a ride down to the clubhouse while my wife was using the rental car. Couldn’t complain about a thing.

Paradise-like views!

This place is amazing. The view was spectacular and the amenities were great. It seems everything was thought out as there are plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and etc. There was even laundry soap and fabric softener to wash laundry! More than enough room for our family of 3. Not to mention, the wildlife and close access to the Cascade Head Trail. We only needed to bring clothes and food and the rest was taken care of. We are already talking about going back!

Scenic getaway!

The GREAT features of this home: it's off the beaten path, private, plenty of windows and amenities, comfortable and clean. Plus, it has a DVD player, which the kids used every night to watch movies. The kids also loved seeing the local herd of elk every night! It lacks a good queen sized bed (due to small room spaces), a hair dryer, and Verizon cell service doesn't work. Fortunately, they have a land line available. We would definitely come back...it was the perfect size for 3 of us (one person per bed).

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a websitecould be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
