About this property

Riviera Lodge - Large Renovated Waterfront Property

Spend time with family or friends on a large stunning 4000 sq ft waterfront property with 5 + 2 bedrooms located on the Sturgeon River just minutes, via boat, from the mouth of Lake Nipissing and a short 25 minute drive to North Bay.

Visit the Sturgeon River House Museum adjacent to the property. Bring your boat and partake in the phenomenal fishing that awaits you at the mouth of the river or on the lake.

This spacious lodge is located directly on the Sturgeon River with plenty of living area to enjoy inside and out.

Relax and unwind while overlooking the river. For your enjoyment there is plenty of outdoor seating and comfortable furniture on the main deck or down at the dock.

Internet is provided but due to the remote location reliability is not guaranteed. It’s an easy 4 hour drive from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and is the perfect place to get out of the city and enjoy nature.

A canoe, 2 kayaks, one paddle board, a fun mat and other water toys are available for your use. Should you wish to bring your own boat, there is a boat launch (for a fee) next door at the museum and plenty of boat parking on the property.

For the fishing enthusiast, Lake Nipissing, the 3rd largest lake entirely in Ontario, has some of the best fishing around including pickerel (walleye), smallmouth bass, muskie, and northern pike.

If heading out on the lake is not in your plans, wander over to the Sturgeon River House Museum to learn about the cultural and natural heritage of the Municipality of West Nipissing. The Museum presents the fur trade era from 1623 to 1879 and pioneer life in West Nipissing between 1878 and 1939.

Directly cross the road is the Theodore Fouriezos Wetland Trail. This land was donated by the family of the original owners of the Riviera Lodge. 3.2km of low impact trails are a mixture of wood chip covered paths and boardwalks. The trails feature a host of special interest stations, a bird viewing platform and a viewing platform that overlooks Cache Bay. Within the entire system, four wetland types are found: bog, fen, swamp, and marsh. The variety and abundance of flora and fauna are indicative of the numerous ecosystems and habitats, which are sustained by these wetlands.

Take a drive into town to check out the rivalry chip stands or the bakery featuring some local favourites such as sugar pie.

The property is pet friendly so pets are welcomed with prior approval and a small fee to help cover additional costs.

There is one 50" Smart TV on the property for your enjoyment. You are welcome to log in to your Netflix or Disney + accounts or watch the free internet channels that are available.

There is plenty of space between this property and neighbours giving you privacy. We do, however, ask that you be respectful and not make excessive noise that will cause a disturbance such as loud music, backyard gatherings, yelling, shouting, etc... Also, fireworks are prohibited on the premises at all times. There is a Renter's Code of Conduct for the short term rental. Guests booking the property will be required to complete the form which outlines these policies.

Please note, we only sleep 14 in beds. We do consider taking additional guests for a reasonable fee. Please inquire on the total number of guests and we can advise on options and pricing.

Cousins weekend
Cindy’s property is exactly as described and then some. We Cousins had an amazing 2 days and 3 nights and all we had to bring was our clothes and Food. The couple of questions we had were answered promptly and without hesitations…The property is next to the boat launch but not busy or loud. If you have a boat you want to bring there is plenty of room. The firepit by the water was perfect and you can purchase firewood just up the road. Thank you for an amazing weekend…..

Family gathering enjoyed the stay
It is a marvellous cottage with a great view on the river. It has many activities makes the family enjoyed the stay for all ages. Full kitchen makes it easy to prepare our meals and gather all the family. Many rooms and toilets made it easy to everyone to rest anytime away from others. Very clean and near to city to get what you need in a quick ride. I recommend it for any type of gathering. Overall experience was amazing and everyone enjoyed the stay.

Wonderful stay!
This property was a gem of a space and a wonderful find. There was plenty of space for our large family to each have our own separate space, plenty of rooms and bathrooms. It was well stocked with all the comforts you would need. A very spacious kitchen. Love the two stoves and two coffee makers! A beautiful yard with plenty of space and dog friendly as well. Perfectly situated right on the water with kayaks and a canoe and paddle board too. Also not too far of a drive from grocery stores and shops. Thank you Cindy. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Celebration of 50/80
The property was wonderful. The bedrooms overlooked the river. The kitchen dinning was outstanding. So nice to have 2 stoves and 2 fridges. We were concerned that there was no smoke or CO2 alarms and the lack of hot water was a problem. The water toys were great and the log cabin with fireplace was an added amenity that was greatly appreciated. The location was private and very close to town. We all enjoyed the spaciousness and the billiard table. The book nook was well used. A great place for a family reunion.

Best cottage we’ve been to yet!
We celebrated a 50th birthday in our family and chose Cindy’s beautiful cottage to spend it with family for the weekend! I can definitely say it was the most beautiful cottage we’ve been to - the pictures and description are as accurate as can be! Beautiful space & so many things to do! We loved playing pool table while looking out to the lake. We spent some time by the cabana playing card games. We also played basketball and tennis by the court behind the cottage. The lake was beautiful and we got to swim in it and use the paddle boat & canoes that were provided on the property! A few of our family members went fishing & even caught some fish. At night, we were huddled by the campfire listening to scary campfire stories. There were two chipmunks around the porch that kept visiting which were adorable, we ended up naming them! All in all, we had the most amazing weekend at Cindy’s cottage! Absolutely beautiful & cannot say more good things about it. It was definitely worth the 4 hours drive from Toronto. If you’re looking to book Cindy’s cottage, do not hesitate because it’s gorgeous and you’ll be taken care of. Thank you Cindy for being very accommodating to our large group & for having great communication throughout the check-in process and our stay! You made our stay such a breeze and we’re all thankful for our stay at your lovely cottage!

Perfect Multi-Generational Family Cottage Experience
The Riviera Lodge was the perfect cottage for our multi-generational family summer vacation. Our large group of 14 people (i.e. 4 different families) ranged in age from 10 years old to 70 years old. Plus, we brought with us our 3 dogs. The cottage had ample space and amenities to easily accommodate everyone's different needs and wants (i.e. plenty of bedrooms, numerous bathrooms, air conditioning, large kitchen, dishwasher, bbq, washer/dryer, water+boat access, etc.). The Riviera Lodge is even better and larger than shown in the VRBO listing photographs. One of our group's favourite hang outs was the private historical log house cabana with working stone fireplace located just steps from the main cottage. The free boat launch, located right next door at the museum, made it very easy to bring in/out our family's motorized boat. After this cottage experience, our group all agreed that we preferred being located directly on the Sturgeon River vs. Lake Nipissing. The river water was much warmer and calmer. Plus, the lake was conveniently located only a few minutes away by boat. The kids enjoyed access to the cottage provided water toys: water mat, canoe, kayak and paddle board. They also enjoyed playing pool and watching Netflix on the cottage account provided. The cottage has everything anyone could possibly need. We only needed to bring our clothes, beach towels, food, and drinks. The kitchen is well stocked with all the tools and equipment requiree including several different coffee makers (Keruig, Nespresso, and percolated coffee). All linens and bathroom towels are supplied. The washer and dyer are huge and work well so we packed less than more. The cottage has drinkable well water, but it does have a slight colour and smell. We only used it for cooking and bathing. There is a water cooler provided in the kitchen. The nearby Metro grocery store (approx. 15 minutes drive from the cottage) has large water cooler bottles available for purchase. There is also a Canadian Tire, Diary Queen, and other big name stores in town. Rogers and Bell internet service providers (on our smart phones) were pretty slow and spotty in this cottage region. The free internet provided at the Riviera Lodge was similar. It was fine for our group's day-to-day use, but if anyone is thinking of booking this cottage and working half/full-time, it would be challenging. Overall, Riviera Lodge was an amazing experience. We would definitely book it again.

Even better than expected!
On behalf of my whole family I wanna start off by saying thank you to the property owner for this memorable house that made us feel at home. This house is even better than the pictures shown, we did not expect the house to be decorated so beautifully with a christmas tree and lots of other christmas decorations, so this was a mayor surprise for us and made the whole family feel the holiday spirit. The kitchen had everything we needed and more! They even left us a whole pack of candian ginger ale, bottles of water and even some food, that was so thoughtful and we all appreciated so much. ,

Great lakeview House
It's one of the best cottages I have stayed in Ontario. The house is very spacious and nicer than the picture. Big lakeview windows across kitchen and living room, 5 out of 7 bedrooms has lake view and connected to a surrounding balcony on the second floor. We have seven adults and 2 kids and we can comfortably stay inside for a whole day, with guys and ladies each have own space and kids running around.. Perfect for a big family or friends' gathering. One thing worth mention is the house‘s sound insultation is pretty good so each one can have their own schedule. You can get up pretty late without disturbed by the people and kids downstairs. Owner is very friendly and responds immediately. We had everything we need. The house also has a lot of facilities for everyone that we can spend a whole week there. There's even a tennis court behind the house. I put four star for the location as it was a bit far to the Killarney (2 hour) and French River provincial park (1.5 hour) we wanted to go. But later on we found there were a lot of hiking trails closeby, and at least one provincial park and 2 conservation area within 1 hour driving. The Leisure farm across the river were quite fun, it's the biggest strawbarry picking farm in Ontario and has a lot of activities for kids. If you going on Mon, Wed, and Sat, there were more activities for kids, but adults have to pay and you need to register for a spot online. We went on a Friday afternoon and walked through the corn maze there, it was fun. We had a great there and everyone wants to come back again.

I was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario. Graduated from The University of Western Ontario. I lived in Florida the past 20 years and raised 2 beautiful children there. But the north is in my blood and called me home. My sister, nephew and I purchased back this property that had been in our family since the 1940s that was sold in 2015 and we just repurchased.

This property was run as a traditional fishing camp by Theodore Foureizos (our Great Grandfather) back in the 40’s. Taking on the adventure of restoring this place with a little some love and hard work has been both exciting and rewarding. We truly hope you enjoy our beautiful property as much as we all do!
