About this property

Secluded and serene lakefront cottage

Get back to what matters at this secluded, 3-bedroom off-grid cottage on a gorgeous, quiet lake. Enjoy the peace and privacy of this recently upgraded cabin, surrounded by crown land and packed with amenities.
- An additional, screened-in dining room on water's edge
- 2 kayaks, canoe and a rowboat
- No neighbours and only one other cottage on the entire lake
- New appliances
- LCBO, cafes, stores in nearby Port Loring (10 minutes)

This clean, comfortable off-grid cottage sits on a large, secluded lakefront property with no neighbours and views of forested crown land across an almost private lake.

Perfect for those looking to unplug, rest and experience the peace and stillness of nature. While solar panels provide enough power for lights, a fridge with freezer, a water pump, and charging devices, the off-grid cottage cannot power microwaves, hair dryers, and other energy sucking electric appliances.

Great for couples, families and small groups of friends. Not suitable for large gatherings or parties.

*OUTSIDE:
- Enjoy two kayaks, a canoe and a row boat (3 adult-sized lifejackets available for use)
- Great swimming in clean lake
- A fire pit
- Incredible star-gazing on clear nights
- 450 feet of private waterfront on 3.5 acres, lots of open space and grass for frisbee, soccer, lawn games
- Flowing, freshwater spring steps away for cold, clean drinkable water
- A separate screened-in dining and games room, overlooking the water
- Propane BBQ
- Great fishing on semi-private lake with Pike, Bass (large and small mouth), Crappie, Perch, Sun Fish, and Cat Fish
- Surrounded by crown land
- For hunters, the cottage is in WMU 47

*INSIDE:
- New kitchen appliances (fridge and gas stove) and kitchen stocked with dishware, cutlery, pots, and pans.
- Very comfortable beds (1 queen, 2 bunks beds each with a double and twin mattress).
- Please bring your own towels.
- A small selection of board games, DVDs and TV with HDMI hook up
- Flush toilet and hot water shower and in bathroom as well as clean and comfortable outhouse (water is shut off during winter months).
- A mounted, vented propane heater is available to guests visiting during colder months.
- Cottage is off-grid and powered by solar panel batteries (with a backup gas-powered generator).

*WIFI: When turned on, a new cell booster may provide decent coverage - but we’ve seen mixed results depending on your cell phone carrier. So no guarantees. To be safe, count on a ‘digital detox’ while you're here.

*NEARBY:
- Port Loring is less than 10 minutes away by car. LCBO, cafes and diners, gas station and general stores (suggest doing larger grocery shop before you arrive).
- Some nearby attractions include: Restoule Provincial Park, Noganosh Lake Provincial Park, Board's Honey Farm, Rockcliffe Pottery & Craft Shop, and Stonethrow Pottery.
- Dual Rill Farms is just a few minutes away and sells eggs, some produce, and fresh local meat beef, pork, chicken.

- Note that bedroom walls do not go all the way to ceilings and do not have doors (curtains for privacy) in order for heat to circulate throughout the cottage.

A little slice of peace and quiet
We loved everything about our week long stay. Check-in was seamless and we were greeted with a delicious welcome basket. Both the interior and the exterior of the property are very clean and well maintained. The lake was very serene and we were treated to daily loon calls, muskrat sightings and sweet bird songs. We particularly enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. We loved exploring the lake and the marsh area in the canoe and on rainy days we had lots of fun playing games in the additional screened in room with wood stove. Looking forward to a future visit!

Perfect Getaway
This cottage was the perfect getaway for the two of us and our adult son. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the (private) lake and being off-grid. For the most part, we were the only ones on the lake which was amazing. Fishing was awesome and provided a couple of meals. Like another review, we were warmly welcomed by Todd, with fresh baked bread and eggs, a wonderful surprise. Todd was more than accommodating, responding immediately to any questions we had. The screened in building by the lake was amazing. We had all our meals there and enjoyed nights of Scrabble by the fire; and, listening to the rain. Absolutely perfect, we'll be booking again next year!

Great place to unplug
We stayed here with our two very young kids and it was a great place to disconnect. The cabin is charming, comfortable and very clean. The outdoor dining room was an awesome bug-free place for dinner. It is really quiet with only one other cottage on the lake. Dana was very responsive and Todd, the property manager, went above and beyond to make us welcome and help us experience the area.

Relaxing week at the cottage
The cottage and property were as advertised. Great swimming and kayaking. Easy access to a second small lake along a beautiful creek with lots of water lilies and grasses. A short drive to hiking in Restoule Provincial park was nice. Playing Scrabble in the screened in porch each evening was a treat. Dana was very responsive when we made her aware of a leak in the rowboat - and Todd was on it in a flash! Very helpful. Todd greeted us with freshly baked bread and fresh eggs from his "girls". We've never experienced such a warm welcome!! Recommended!

Bbq was a pos. Had to use a knife to adjust knobs, after using a lighter to start.(was supposed to be a new bbq) Snakes living in screened hut by water, which the property care giver knows about. Boat has a hole in it any takes on water. Son got stung by wasps living in wall on deck. Another bee nest by dock. Outhouse was suggested but has never been used or cleaned. We fished both lakes for an entire week. Caught a few bass, nothing special. Best part was the quiet.

Exactly as listed
Beautiful, secluded & "oh so quiet" property. Although remote, provisions are only a 10 min drive. Caught fish from the dock - bass, pike, perch & sunfish. If you go in June be aware it is prime time mosquito season.

The perfect getaway
This off the grid cottage was perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of life. We went the first week of October, and let me tell you, the view was stunning. The trees were changing colors and looking out across the calm lake was like a picture puzzle..just beautiful. The cottage was clean and tidy and supplied with an abundance of dishes, pots and pans and cutlery, as well as clean linen, tons of dvds and ps3 games if you found yourself wanting. We had a wonderful time sitting by the firepit or sitting in the enclosed room outside with the fireplace and a cup of coffee while watching the chipmunks and muskrats. There are also plenty of board games to keep you busy and a BBQ for those hotdogs and hamburger junkies. :-) Gas and hardwood were available a few minutes away as well as a nice little restaurant for times when you didn't feel like cooking. Overall we loved the solitude and beauty of this secluded cottage.

We're Dana and Dwayne and we're excited to welcome you to our secluded lakefront cottage in Golden Valley. We live and work in Hamilton, Ontario with our two children but love to escape and unplug here. We look forward to sharing this same feeling of peace with our guests.

Why they chose this property

If you're looking for privacy, lots of outdoor space to spread out, and no neighbors in sight, you'll love the peace and seclusion of this cottage. While simple and rustic, the cottage is very comfortable with new beds, fresh linens, an extendable dining room table, living room area, indoor plumbing (in spring, summer, fall), and a well-stocked kitchen with new appliances.

What makes this property unique

Additional screened in dining / games room at water's edge. Use of kayaks, rowboat and paddleboat. Great swimming. Solar-powered with a backup generator provides a unique and comfortable off-grid experience. Tons of privacy and room to spread out.
