Dunsborough is a pretty beachside town that overlooks the beautiful waters of Geographe Bay and is one of the most popular holiday spots in Western Australia. A leisurely three hour drive from Perth, it has secluded coves and coastal walking tracks.
It has some of the best swimming beaches in WA including Meelup, Eagle Bay and Bunker Bay. Uniquely facing north to the Indian Ocean, these beaches have calm, sheltered water and they are nice and uncrowded. Many beaches have free barbecues and wonderful picnic areas. The HMAS Swan, located in Dunsborough, is a top spot for diving as it is the largest accessible dive wreck in the Southern Hemisphere. Of course if surfing is your passion, then the nearby Yallingup, Injidup and Margaret River surf breaks are close by.
Dunsborough and the surrounding areas also have a wonderful arts scene, with live music and market days in summer and a plenty of art galleries showcasing local talent.
There are over 200 wineries and breweries nearby selling locally made wine and beer and many offer delightful meals from on site restaurants with coast and bushland views. Perhaps locally made ice-cream or chocolate is more your thing or of course have a pie or cake at the famous Dunsborough bakery! The activities are endless in this region.
