The location was wonderful, and the house a perfect setup for our family of 5 adults and two small children. The only issue for us was the mattresses' on the main floor are old and need to be replaced, otherwise a perfect stay.
The cabin was roomy and so peaceful with waves lapping on the shore all day and night. Loved watching the sunset from the deck. Watched a duck family and a goose family in the water and sandhill cranes flying overhead talking to each other. The cabin was well stocked for cooking and the king bed was comfortable. A lovely 3-day stay!
Loved the property! Had everything we needed for a weekend up north. Plenty of driveway space for our trailers and trucks. Best part is the driveway is a pull around driveway, so no backing up trailers!
Had a great time, the cabin is wonderful. A little disappointed in the shape of the kayaks, it was perfect weather for a paddle. Other than that, we had a great time.
The cabin was great. The location was beautiful. It was quiet, peaceful. Just what we needed. Only complaint is the furniture. Couches, chairs were extremely hard to get out of. One bed (First floor) made a lot of noise every time the sleeping person moved.
Campfires were fun. Kayaking was great. Kitchen well stocked. Thanks for 7 days of fun.
Our stay was delightful. It was clean and didn’t have that old cottage smell.
The kitchen was well equipped and there was a very impressive movie collection..
The 2 kayaks were well used.
Love this place
Drummond island is like no other place we have stayed more than worth the 10hr drive. This property is simple, equipped and very well suited to small family. We will be going back again. The lake is pristine, the land is clean, the air is clean.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Island and The Getaway was a perfect landing spot for our adventures. The home was spacious enough for us to spread out and decompress while offering the most peaceful, beautiful views from every window! We will definitely look to revisit both Drummond Island and The Getaway in the future!
We had a great stay at this property it was everything we expected! We especially enjoyed fires with a great view of the lake and sunsets. All the birds we saw were great too.
This is our third time renting from Drummond Island Hotel & Vacation Homes and first time at the Getaway Cottage. Enjoyed kayaking and beautiful sunsets over Bass Cove; bring water shoes for playing in the water- shore is rocky. The cottage is nicely equipped with everything needed for the week. A case of bottled water is provided for drinking because the well is shallow and draws from the lake and shouldn't be consumed. Would advise bringing a large water container as we ran through water bottles quickly. Also very useful was the landline phone in the house as our cell phones didn't work at all for calls. Wi-Fi let us communicate by texting and email. In the evenings we really enjoyed the extensive DVD collection and listening to the water lull us to sleep.
Our family of 4 (20 and 17 year old) had a great stay at the Getaway. Kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, coffee pot, Keurig (wish we knew they had one we would have brought some of our pods), campfire roasting sticks, and even corn on the cob holders. Bottle water was also excellent surprise!!!
We loved kayaking in the cove with our 2 kayaks and your 2 and went west to around Long Point. It was so calm and we were pleasantly surprised with how shallow it was and enjoyed seeing all the rocks just below the surface. Sunsets and bonfires were incredible! My husband enjoyed watching some videos at night while I read. My girls would have loved if you more books to read in the house!
We took a day trip to the Soo and were able to see 2 freighters go through the locks. And saw Arthur Anderson up at the Soo and then again when we were waiting for the car ferry back to the island.
Great place to unplug and relax. Would love to come back up to see the Fossil Ledges and hunt for some puddingstones!
My family were looking for a last minute getaway and we were not disappointed! Great cottage. Loved the views and breeze off the cove. Would go back and recommend!
This cottage was perfect for our group! My friend and her husband have 3 toddlers and they claimed the loft which was a great space for them. Not a ton of trinkets or decorative items that we had to worry about them getting in to! Plenty of kitchen items and the extras you weren’t prepared for the house to have like dish soap, paper towel, garbage bags, etc. The only upgrades we would suggest would be to update the mattresses and the couches. They both were very uncomfortable especially has long days quad riding! Overall it was a great cottage and weekend getaway for our friends’ first family vacation!
The cabin was clean, comfortable and warm. We didn’t take out the kayaks - it was October and too cold. But we did enjoy a campfire and cooked steak bites using metal hot dog sticks. The view was beautiful and it was located in a quiet corner of the island.
We had a very peaceful and relaxing time at The Getaway. Our first time at Drummond Island and it didn’t disappoint! This cabin is in a beautiful location on Bass Lake. We used the kayaks provided everyday. Enough amenities were provided. We forgot charcoal for the grill but the island grocery store was nearby and they don’t overcharge. We had brought our side by sides for they trails. They were a little rough for our liking. But we were still able to ride the side roads and explore the beauty that the island has to offer.
