GIZLI as part of Customs House is one bedroom studio apartment in the heart of KALKAN’s old town.

Gizli Apartment puts you right in the centre of KALKAN’s vibrant dining scene and is just a stone’s throw from the beach. A good alternative to hotel accommodation. The living/ bedroom area also has access to a furnished private terrace and the same terrace wraps around to the front of the property where there is additional seating and sea views. Lovely vacation in Kalkan.

+ Excellent small apartment, very close to the sea. The location is just perfect. In fact, it is a small studio with a private entrance and a terrace in a historic building. Terrace
Very helpful, it's really amazing with a sea view in the shade of tangerine trees and acacia. We used it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Upon arrival, it was very pleasant that in the fridge our host was waiting for a welcome pack (a basic set of products, including fresh delicious local bread). Such care and attention is very bribery. We were also allowed to leave the apartment at 17.00, because We had a very late flight.
The nearest supermarket is 7-10 minutes on foot. Carrefour sells fresh seafood, fish and meat. Migros has a slightly lower price and sells freshly baked local fillet cakes.
The city beach is 1 minute away, but we went a little further to the next wilder rocky beach. You can see sea turtles floating there in the morning. You can still swim with a mask.
There is no TV, but in the evening it is better to watch the sunset and listen to live music at the nearby restaurant.
Beautiful Internet, which is rare for Turkey.
Kalkan and these apartments are very atmospheric!
- 1. I put not 10, but 9 because of the ceiling in the small bathroom. In half of the room it is so low that the first day stabs against it head steadily, then you get used and enter, bending the head. It is clear that this layout is due to the old fund, but it caused a certain discomfort all week.
2. Kitchen tiles with only one stove are not very convenient, but not critical.

Best location in Kalkan.

+ Very unusual house, divided into different hotels (apartments) almost the first coastline near the city beach. We got the first floor with terrasse balconies., where we had dinner under the bougainvillea and the orange tree. The apartment is not big and cozy, with small children it will be cramped, at most 2 people. There is a kitchen with a small electric stove, and all the necessary utensils, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a kettle, a toaster. Cooked themselves breakfasts, sometimes roasted fish, for the benefit of Migros and Karefur chain stores nearby, bought eggs, vegetables, fish... everything you need there.
The city itself I recommend to visit and explore), in addition to the large beach there are numerous piling beaches, beautiful bays, Lycian trails, Patara beach in 15 minutes drive. We got to English Turkey, tourists must be 85% English. For lovers of bars, restaurants - paradise.
Thank you to Ibrahim for the trust and warm welcome. We moved in before, and we checked out later. I didn't see the hotel's minuses, it is located in an old house, maybe the Greeks were also building, in some places the ceilings are low, it is necessary to get used to getting wet, after 2 cones you get used to)) Yes... there is an old mosque nearby, it slightly overlaps the sea view. Many people come to pray, nobody interferes, nobody pays attention to anyone. She'll be closed tonight.

+ Location was just perfect. Hosts where fabulous, communicated before and after our arrival.
Nothing was too much trouble.

Cozy small appartment located on a paradise beach in Kalkan

+ The location was very good 100 meters from the beautiful beach from Kalkan, and the Kalkan Harbour with nice restaurants. The host picked us up from the otogar in the evening and took us to the apartment. There was also a welcome package waiting for us with bread, eggs, milk, instant coffee and 5 liters of water :)

Also comfortable the apartment has a washing machine
the toilet and the entrance to the toilet has a lowered ceiling on which I bumped my head a few times

But anyways it was a pleasant stay at this apartment

Everything was great!

+ Excellent view, perfect location, affordable price, very cozy apartment, a lot of useful things in the apartment (washing machine, refrigerator with food, air conditioning).

6) Leyla from Russia , July 2023

+ The room itself is located in the pink house, but the entrance is private. There is a small terrace, the room itself is small (for a maximum of two people), stone, where you had to lean, in general for this cost it is the ideal option. The nearest café is 10 metres away, while the town’s ideal beach is 30 metres away. The friendly host left us 6 eggs and a loaf of bread for our arrival. It's nice!
- There were ants on the floor, the baby got scared.

I am originally from Antalya and visited Kalkan first time in late 80’s and fell in love with this historical place. It was a small village then with great architecture and history.

I have been living outside of Turkey for almost 30 years. In 2005, we visited Kalkan and my late mum liked the historical Customs House as reminiscent of her uncle’s house in old town in Antalya and bought it on the spot as it is in amazing location as a beach property and mum used to enjoy swimming in front of KALKAN’s beach.

I have not rented out for many years but travelled with my family to Kalkan at least once a year for few weeks and we stayed at each unit which are separate apartments within the same Mansion.

My wife and daughters also learned about Turkish traditions and culture and little bit broken Turkish.

Recently, I realized that, I should open it to the public so they can also enjoy the property and surrounding areas.
Over the years, I have eaten at many restaurants and used various services from transportation companies to the beach clubs. I am happy to share my experiences on my website under Cetin’s guide and I will update you regularly.

Why they chose this property

It is an amazing place , history , activities , beach clubs , great restaurants and bars, friendly people , Turquise waters , hiking , sailing opportunities, recreation , fishing, night life , sight seeing .

Formerly an important coastal trading port, Kalkan is now a thriving but still unspoilt holiday resort with the bustling historic Old Quarter being the heart of the Kalkan town. After dusk, Kalkan's winding streets full of traditional houses, restaurants, small boutiques and local shops with overhanging balconies teem with people as the tantalising aromas of Kalkan's renowned cuisine entice people down to the harbour and surrounding streets

Kalkan is an eclectic mix of Greek and old Kalkan architecture, with roof terrace restaurants and lovely views to the sea, Kalkan old town is a place you will want to discover and enjoy.

You can see example of Greek architecture in Kalkan such as whitewashed and stone buildings with shuttered windows and balconies which reveal Kalkan's history.

From Kalkan's harbour, many of the beach clubs dotted around the bay are accessed by small colourful boats that provide an often complimentary service to transfer guests staying in Kalkan. You will also find traditional wooden Gulets in Kalkan's harbour that offer boat trips to the beaches, islands and inlets nearby. Water sports, diving and fishing trips are also offered here in Kalkan.

Although Kalkan does not appear to have been a place of significant settlement in the distant past, Kalkan's harbour was the only safe harbour between Kas and Fethiye and so became an important port during the 19th century. It was settled 150 to 200 years ago by people of both Greek and Turkish origin and was known by its Greek name "Kalamaki." Goods were transported by camel from the Xanthos valley .
