Welcome to âSun on the Browâ. Situated on the border of two of Ontarioâs great cottage regions South Frontenac and Rideau Lakes. Opinicon Lake is part of a series of lakes navigated by water travellers of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rideau River/Canal System since the late eighteen hundreds. Davis Lock to the south draining into Sand lake and beyond towards Kingston, and northerly through Chaffeyâs Lock into Clear Lake and towards Ottawa. âSun on the Browâ is a beautiful setting of four cottages on a property total of 11.25 acres with over 750 feet of lakefront. The Cottages are set on a point of approximately 1.5 acres.
Breezy Cottage has just been completely renovated. Weâve added A/C and Wifi. It has an open concept great room and kitchen. The vaulted ceiling and original beams give the cottage a breezy airy feeling.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, microwave, coffeemaker (coffee included) toaster and fridge. The great room has a corner couch and comfy chair along with a Big screen smart
TV. Breezy has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a single over double bunk bed. This cottage sleeps four. The 2pc bathroom is bright and clean. The outdoor shower is private. This cottage has unobstructed views of Opinicon Lake. The large wrap around deck is shaded in the afternoon and affords a wonderful spot to relax and recharge.
On the deck of Breezy Cottage you will find a Broil King BBQ, as well as a table and 4 chairs. The cottage has is own hammock, fire pit and dock.
âSun on the Browâ also has a family-friendly Boathouse retreat. This 900-square-foot common room has a pool table, table soccer, air hockey, games, puzzles with a farmhouse table to set them up on and books. The Boathouse has a panoramic view over Lake Opinicon for those who want to curl up and take in the views. Great for rainy day activity or anytime.
Opinicon is a peaceful lake but amenities are all close by. Less than 5 minutes away is Chaffeyâs lock. Here you will find 2 marinas, Brownâs and Franklinâs. Browns has a small general store and an LCBO/Beer store outlet. Skycroft Campground a few minutes down the road rents Pontoon boats by the day or week.
The historic âOpinicon Innâ is the main attraction in Chaffeyâs Lock. Two restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining, an ice cream shop and 10 acres of beautiful grounds are the framework of this recently refurbished and renovated charming Inn**
For hikers and nature lovers, the âCatarqui Trailâ passes through Chaffeyâs on the north side of Opinicon Lake. For more experienced hikers thereâs Foley Mountain in Westport.
Numerous golf courses are within 20 minutes to get your swing on!
Shopping and strolling in the lovely waterfront villages of Newboro and Westport are also less than 30 minutes away with stores and restaurants and even a wonderful winery that serves delicious wood-fired pizza!
There is plenty of room for your boat at âSun on the Browâ (If you have one - boat launching at Chaffeyâs lock). We also have 3 small fishing boats for rent (boat and fishing license required) and the use of kayaks, a canoe and paddle boards. The water is crystal clear and warm as Opinicon is not a very deep lake. Water shoes are recommended as the lake bottom is not sand and true to the Rideau Lakes, is weedy.
It is our sincere hope that you will fall in love with this little piece of heaven as we have and that cottaging at âSun on the Browâ will leave you with a lasting experience that you will want to repeat year after year.
Sincerely
Your Hosts
Bill and Kim
