Amazing off the grid built peaceful place surrounded by nature
What an amazing place to stay and rewind. It’s built to be self efficient with minimal green imprint. It was spotless clean and set up with all we needed. Little touches left from owners like beautiful messages, breakfast, wine, wood, and so many made our stay so special!!! Very peaceful place with wildlife by our door steps every night and morning : kangaroos, wallabies and birds . Location is central and easy to get everywhere. Loved it. Would highly recommended it!!!

Unforgettable Experience
From the moment we turned town the driveway to Wedgetail Down we felt like we were in a movie set. The property is stunning and Betty and Peter thought of every detail and little touch to make us feel welcome. Everything you need to cook and bbq is there, the bed is so comfortable, the rain shower so nice after a long day of hiking. The house is fascinating and absolutely gorgeous. Wandering the grounds and being greeted by wildlife everywhere we turned was truly breathtaking. The sunset and moonrise from the grounds are unbelievable. Don’t hesitate just book! We will never forget our experience here.

About the host

Hosted by Peter Clements

Host profile image
Peter and Betty are long standing people of Kangaroo Island and they have a passion for conservation and wildlife having agreed to make their property a private Wildlife Sanctuary. Peter is a former Mayor of Kangaroo Island and spent many years with National Parks and Wildlife. Betty is an Architectural Draftsperson and the brains behind the accommodation.

Why they chose this property

The Wedgetaildown property was part of a much larger 1000acre property that was dedicated a long time ago to private conservation. Our neighbours share much of the same ethos as we do with our stewardship of the land.

What makes this property unique

The Eleanor River runs through the property which is also the home of the rare and endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo which visitors are likely to see in their walks through the river and bush. The land still has its native grasses and self populating trees which keep the biodiversity at an optimal level.
