Bitter brush house

What a great place with a beautiful view! We realize it is a rental so the owner perhaps doesn’t know about the disrepair that is happening. We wrote a list of things that need to be fixed to assist and make the stay for your next guests more comfortable. Any break on the cost would be appreciated. Needs sponges (only one tiny funky sponge) and kitchen towels Stove fan doesn’t work Oven needs a new control knob, no numbers visible Microwave turn table doesn’t spin. Cupboard under stove is broken. Cutting boards are all bent and need replacing. 1/2 bath lights need replacing Heating system needs to be check downstairs double room on the left too hot, the double one on the right no heat. Double room on left, blinds don’t close lamp doesn’t turn of unless unplugged. Main room downstairs, tv has no volume and heater vent won’t open Hot tub needs to be repositioned so you can open top, can only have it half open because the lift assist it too close to the building Sliding door by the dining room table needs some help, gets off track and hard to close once opened

Nice spot but needs some money put back in to it. Mattress in master sloped so much I would slide off at night. Back of sectional sofa in living room broken. Igniter to outdoor grill inoperable. Pool cues had no tips(I bought some glue to fix that). Multiple recessed lights in kitchen out. Owners need to spend some money!

Terrific location and support

Our family of seven (5 to 79 yrs) had a terrific time the week before Christmas 2022 at 202 Bitter Brush at Northstar. A door to door shuttle service to/from the slopes virtually “on demand”. Very informative employees manning the phones to answer questions. Very professional and responsive maintenance crew. This home has terrific window views on three sides on the main floor and two sides on the bedroom floors. A fully stocked kitchen and large dining room table. We hope to return soon.

Beautiful home for relaxing family vacation

We have stayed in this beautiful Bitter Brush property twice, first in summer 2019 and then again in summer 2022. The home is comfortable and decorated nicely, with a great kitchen and living room space. The deck, which overlooks the 9th hole of Northstar golf course, is our favorite space in the late afternoon and early evening. As a golfing family, we love that we can get to the Northstar course in 2 minutes from the house. The house is excellent for several couples traveling together since it has two main bedrooms with attached bathrooms. The two other bedrooms are large with big closets and 2 queen sized beds each. We cook all of our meals at the house, enjoying the well-appointed and designed kitchen. Restaurants are nearby in Northstar that guests can get to using the shuttle service if desired. The knives in the kitchen could use a bit of sharpening, but otherwise we had everything we needed to cook a variety of meals. The house is multi-level, which is something to be aware of if traveling with companions who have mobility issues. If you're planning to visit in the summer and you're coming from a place where you're used to having air conditioning, note that the house doesn't have central air conditioning. The afternoon hours can be a bit warm inside, but there are plenty of fans available in the house to circulate air. The temperatures drop as the sun goes down and the house quickly cools. Sleeping is quite comfortable. We noticed a few maintanence needs in 2022 that we did not see in 2019. In the downstairs main bedroom, the back door no longer has any covering on it so the sun comes in early in the morning. The screen door on the living room sliding door needs repair/replacing. There is a large water damage spot in the living room ceiling from a water leak around the sky light. We had great communication throughout the rental process about what was available in the house, how to access the home, when the property was available for check-in, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to this property.

Good place, maybe better in cool weather...

The house is perfectly equipped for lots of people. There are three separate "hangout" spaces, allowing people to do their own thing, the kitchen is well appointed and the house backs up onto the golf course for lots of privacy. Only complaint is that the house doesn't have AC (which we knew), but also doesn't have ANY air flow. It was consistently 10 degrees cooler outside than inside, despite having all windows and doors available open, plus the one ceiling fan on. (NOTE: several of the screen doors in the house are sticky or plain broken, meaning having them open resulted in lots of bugs.) If it's not going to be hot while you're in Tahoe, I think is a great place to stay.

Great for two families!

Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. We were two families with 4 young kids between us and it was wonderful! There was some wear and tear on the property, but it did not detract from the experience. The hot tub was just divine!

Summer Rental

I'll start by saying this was spacious rental and our family of 8 had a great time. Lots to do and good amount of room. They have all the dishes, sheets, soap, and laundry machines. Given it's a rental, you can tell with the worn wood, torn/hard to open screenn, 1 slider door that is hard to lock and came off the track. The nice thing with the worn part is that we didn't worry as much. The deck can get a lot of sun in the midday, and there was no umbrella, like in the picture. Since the house gets warm, it would've been nice to have a table to eat at on the deck. The Adirondack chairs and table are not conducive to eating outside. The provided box fans do eventually cool the house down though. TVs have cable and the main TV in the great room is newer and allows streaming from the phone too. You can have a nice time here.

Perfect house to ski, snowboard (easy and fast shuttle service), play pool, sit in the hot tub, cook

The house had 360 views and was so easy to drive to and park in the driveway and the garage (if you need to plug in your car). Two refrigerators made it easy to stock up on groceries if you plan to cook over several days. The young adults played pool, sat in the hot tub, talked in front of the fireplace where we had a nice log fire, skiied, snowboarded, and played board games. The house was well stocked with pots, pans and dishware but you have to bring in all of your own spices, condiments, and anything you might need as ingredients to cook. It is also difficult to find a place that allows dogs and our dog loved this house and it was great fun to have him join the family vacation. Also, the water was hot if you like hot showers and if it's a pet peeve when places only have luke warm water. What else...the management service was wonderful and answered the phone all the time if we had a question (Tahoe Getaways was the management service). I brought paper towels, aluminum foil, plastic bags, TP, soap, dishwasher soap, hand soap, because they said there would only be enough for 1 day but there was plenty there to last at least 5 days so not sure if you always need to bring all of that with you. We would rent this place again!

A Beautiful Home Away From Home

This home is wonderful. Everything about it was comfortable and clean and our entire group enjoyed our stay. It's especially great to be picked up at the house by the Northstar shuttle for your day of skiing eliminating the need to pack all your gear in your car and pay for parking. What a treat!

Bitter Brush

Bitter Brush is a beautiful house, one of our favorites, but it isn't being kept up. There are broken screens through out, cracked toliet seats, sliding doors and screens that are off the tracks, a hole in one of the bedroom walls, and while many homes in Tahoe don't have air conditioning, all of the high end hotels and homes do, and this trip the temp in the house was 93 when we checked in, and over 90 for days, it was really uncomfortable. It makes me not want to rent it in the summer. The house already has forced air heating, it doesn't seem like adding air conditioning would be that expensive.

HUGE comfortable house with great ammenities!

We had 10 adults staying at this house for a long weekend and there was plenty of space for all of us, with spacious beds to fit our group comfortably (as opposed to some rooms being more children sized). There were many spaces to spread out or to all gather when we wanted. We were able to cook and dine for 10 people easily, preparing multiple dishes at once on the Viking stove and store enough food and drinks in the fridge as well. We were able to hang out play board games on the enormous dining table and living room table and spend time on the large deck/patio to enjoy the weather. During the heat wave, it was a bit hot, since it didn't have a/c and we didn't end up using the hot tub. Overall amazing place with tons of space and great appliances!

Review of Bitter brush

We enjoyed our stay for the 2 weeks we were there. The home was very large, but needs a lot of repair.. Home was very well supplied for our gang. I do wish we had been told ahead of time, that the recreation center was closed for everything except weights. The golf course was also closed. Another recommendation is to make people aware that there are 3 stairways inside, so long safety gates should be brought from home. The outside deck was nice, but also a huge safety hazard for toddlers. They can squeeze through the railings very easily. Ditto on comments regarding the sliding screen doors. They were very difficult to move.

Bitter brush

The house was spacious and in an excellent location. Our son enjoyed the pool table. The shuttle service was a great feature and made getting to the village super easy. The amenities however did not meet the standard I expected for the price point. The linens were not of particularly good quality, the kitchen did not include enough cooking utensils or glasses. The heating system was hard to regulate and did not distribute heat equally throughout the home. The door from the dining area to the deck did not operate properly and the heating vent in the main living area made an awful screeching noise. We got used to the noise but it was annoying. Admittedly we didn't report that noise to the management company but I'm sure someone else has. Also, there should be a step into the hot tub. That seems dangerous to me. I'm short and it was a difficult stretch to get in without one.

Relaxing Retreat

We recently stayed at Bitter Brush Retreat and we loved the set up. There were 5 kids and 4 adults and plenty of room for all of us. This house has huge windows that overlook the golf course/open field. The views were gorgeous from the upstairs as well from the master bedroom downstairs. The house was stocked with all of the things we needed to cook dinner each night. The dinning room and family room gave us enough space for our entire group. The shuttle picked up our group and drove us to Northstar Village which was so convenient, especially those that were snowboarding in our group. We will defiantly book this house again in the future.

Slightly disappointed.

This is a lovely home and we were slightly disappointed that it did not meet our hopes. The house is in a great location and is very spacious. There were six adults in our party. The first night of preparing dinner we realized the oven did not work correctly, also the words were so worn out we could read the settings. There was only 1 large frying pan, and there were no sharp knives. Cutting our watermelon was almost impossible. The screen doors are all broken and it was a struggle each time to get out to the deck. The pool table also has the pockets duck taped. The house has lovely high ceiling, but the air conditioning was not powerful enough to cool the house, which made it very uncomfortable during the day. It was unfortunate that the house hasn't been been maintained as it is a lovely home.

Great House for week long getaway in Lake Tahoe

Good size, quiet house for two families, fantastic location (golf course was closed so we had the fairway to play with the dog), well equipped kitchen and great room. On the negative side, wifi was sometimes slow which made watching TV (streaming) hard. Also guests are required to drive garbage bags to a dumpster a couple of miles away, which is the first time I was asked to do so when renting in Tahoe - likely I had a rental care and didn't mind but I know some people that would certainly not care to do so... All in all I would stay there again and recommend to friends.

Nice home, but Hot

The house has a nice foot print. It was very spacious for a family of 7. However, during our week it was hot. It was about 85 degrees outside and this house doesn't have much shade, so inside the home got up to 90 degrees. Even with fans, the house was still 80 degrees at 10 p.m. If I rent a home in the summer in the Tahoe area, I'm going to look for a home with a lot of shade / trees and / or AC which isn't common. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen and TV area was very large. The pool table needs some maintenance, as the balls get stuck in areas you can't access. However, management was very responsive and brought us new balls. The ice cube maker wasn't working, which was needed as it was soo hot. Probably a better home to stay in during the winter or when it isn't hot.

Great Place

Bitter Brush Retreat was the perfect spot for our adult family to spend several days skiing at Northstar. The house had all the needed ammenities and came very well stocked for us to make and enjoy almost all of our meals in. With the local bus service we could make a call and be on the mountain in minutes without having to fight the parking lots. We will definately be back to this great house.
