This is the VRBO the hotels warned you about
You know those hotel commercials where the family books a VRBO/AirBnB that looks great online but turns out to be a nightmare? This was it. In 2 words: Stay Away! First, the house was filthy. Furniture was covered in dust, one of the beds had sand in it, another had human hair on the blanket. All of the bathrooms were nasty with mildew on the shower curtains and/or fan fixtures. There's a dead rusty grill (beside a newer one that works) by the pool. The outdoor furniture is sparse and dirty. Secondly, we had to call maintenance nearly every day - and we are NOT "those" people. I've stayed in many, many VRBOs and this was by far the worst experience yet. The pool skimmer was not working on arrival, that was fixed pretty quickly. The refrigerator leaked all week and was never fixed. The AC went out on day 3, and though fixed by late that evening, had the main room up to 89 degrees during the day. The smoke alarm would go off randomly, despite no smoke or anything resembling it. And I'm not talking about the low-battery chirp, I mean the screaming, ear-splitting alarm. The kitchen sink developed a link on our next-to-last day - also not fixed before our departure. This was a minor thing: but the house is not well-equipped and provided only 2 beach chairs for a house that sleeps 12, no beach towels, minimal TP, etc. The only good things about the house are the location right on the beach, and the fact that each bedroom has a private bath.
