My hubby, 2 year old daughter and I had a great stay here! Place was spacious, owners were lovely (very flexible and easy to communicate with as well) and we had so much fun exploring the property! They even had the port-a-cot set up for us! Highly recommend especially for families 🥰
My sole intention for this visit was to disconnect from the noise & speed of city life, to clear my head and recharge. This location was perfect for that. The cottage is exactly what you would expect as an old farm house, with a modernised kitchen. I loved the farmhouse feel. Flowers, Eggs & Lemons made it feel very welcoming.I have already booked again
Lovely quirky cottage in a peaceful setting. Well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, which was a bonus. Lovely to be provided with eggs and lemons on arrival. The cottage has obviously been added to in various stages over time, therefore as others have commented, the bathroom setup is unusual with four doors. However, there are now locks on the three doors into the house. The fourth door is to the laundry and this is also where the toilet is. There is an outside door to the laundry, so the toilet can be accessed this way, if someone is in the bathroom (provided the outside door is unlocked!). One bedroom's only internal access is through the bathroom, but it also has an external door. There is no mobile phone signal (Spark), but this is not an issue with the unlimited internet. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good when we were there (mid summer), but it was lovely to be able to light the fire one morning when it was cold with no sun expected.
My friends and I had an amazing time staying at this lovely bach over New Year's! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Its location was perfect, being close to several scenic walks and hikes which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hosts were fantastic - friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions we had. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting.
We wanted to ask Jane more about the history of the cottage as it seems to be over 100 years old at a guess. It has been nicely renovated inside though so is fairly modern. The location is totally remote and very private. We enjoyed a great BBQ on the lovely deck in the evening sun. Beautiful!
Lovely rustic farm cottage with real charm. Little touches like the fresh flowers and fruit made us feel really welcome. It was nice to sit in front of the fireplace and play games.
Gorgeous flowers and birdsong surround you in a beautiful valley. Special touches like fresh plums and flowers made our stay more memorable. Older farmhouse had everything we needed for sleeping and cooking and our hostess was friendly and informative.
Came across this little gem last minute and so glad we did. The cottage took us back to memories of the original kiwi bach experience, all the basics provided, fresh flowers and fruit, comfy beds and a proper homely stay - we even needed the fire which the lovely owners had started for us for our arrival. Definitely recommend for a peaceful break away.
We enjoyed our short break at Waipapa Farm cottage. Even though the cottage was basic we so enjoyed the peace and being able to wander around the farm. Our hosts Jane and Ben were very friendly and responded to our requests quickly. There was no lock on the toilet door and the bathroom sink had no plug but these were minor problems that could have been easily solved. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage for two or three people, (there were seven of us). The more people the greater the price as each additional guest incurs an extra charge which makes the cottage expensive for what it is. Apart from that, we loved it!
We enjoyed this country cottage. It was comfortable and has a lot of character. It is surrounded with old trees and
beautiful mountains. We were met with flowers, lemons,
and local eggs. A wonderful farm experience.
Beneath a snow capped mountain, we loved our connection.
Weather became rough the following day on arrival. Suddenly, we were confined to our escape, environment, privacy, security, & romanticism.
Our host met with us once settled in, & again before departing. It is a simple farm cottage, catches the sun with a warmth factor of 8/10, allows for outside open space characteristics & very well sheltered from southern environments. The water is clean & drains well. During the night it is cozy.
The neighborhood are friendly & seem to support its aspect, upstream & to the river mouth some 4km away.
My partner & I are very impressed & think we got a deal breaker (considering we've stayed iat 3 other home stays during our road trip). We thank bookabach for listing the opportunity, & didn't mind the 30min journey to Kaikoura & activities the region has to offer.

We would love to stay again in the future, but would be nice to see an upgrade in the bathroom facilities and locks on the doors. 4 doors into 1 bathroom and no locks made things a bit uneasy!!
Great kitchen, able to cook proper meals and great location for the mountain bike tracks 😊
The large house was great to stay in, and located in the lovely Clarence Valley. Typical old farm cottage close to great drives up both sides of the valley
It’s like farmhouses I remember from 50 years ago. Eccentric, roomy … and a great fire.
We were definitely going to get up early to explore around here. Except that we didn’t. We made up the fire, had breakfast, made a cup of tea and sat relaxedly in chair and couch in front of that fire. We were tired from vigorously travelling and this was the medicine we needed.
Comfy beds. (Roll-together mattress long-replaced.) Spacious. Seriously nice hostess!
