About this property

Pemberton Forest View Retreat

Only five minutes from Pemberton - this unique timber home, set on five acres and nestled within majestic Karri trees, is a tranquil private hideaway.. .Once known as the Artist's Barn Studio, this iconic property, surrounded by beautiful gardens, fruit trees and water features, is situated in a peaceful location on the edge of the Arboretum forest. Visited daily by a family of kangaroos, you are minutes away from the vibrant timber town set amidst rolling hills and forests of giant trees.

There are plenty of beautiful places to visit in the town and just out of Pemberton. National parks, The Gloucester Tree, The Cascades, Big Brook Dam, The Bibulman Track, wineries and cafes just to name a few. Please visit our Guidebook for more details!

We are in a very respectful neighbourhood.
- Absolutely No parties or events of any kind and strictly quiet hours from 10pm- 7am.

Parking at the front or in the grounds.

Two spacious bedrooms- The mezzanine floor has a king size bed and walk-in robe. The downstairs has a queen bed and a single bed. There is a mattress we can make up for additional guests. You can choose to sleep in the upstairs bedroom with the sofa bed or in the downstairs bedroom with the single bed. Please note the upstairs bedroom is set on a mezzanine floor. The bathroom and toilet are downstairs.

Recently renovated kitchen with new appliances are wonderful for preparing a family meal.

The main living area has an air-conditioner and we have an overhead fan in the top mezzanine bedroom with an additional fan to keep you comfortable. The lower bedroom also has access to a fan to keep you cool in the Summer months.

The kitchen has all you require for a comfortable stay- we have a smart TV and even a piano to try your hand at a little playing.

Extra wood for the inside fire can be found at the back of the property.

We are only five minutes from town. There is also a visitor's centre in town with an IGA and a range of eateries to choose from!

The best way to explore the local area is by car. You can however just walk 800m from the property through the Karri forest to the famous Gloucester Tree.

Pets Policy:
Most homeowners do not allow pets. However, properties marked as "pet-friendly" are exceptions. Guests must seek and receive written approval from the booking agent before bringing pets. A non-refundable fee of $100 per pet is required upon approval. Pets are not allowed on beds or furniture. We do not have an enclosed yard, and our property has a band of visiting kangaroos, and kangaroos are well known to be a danger to dogs. Please do not allow your dog to bother the kangaroos, as they are very capable of inflicting severe and life-threatening injuries. You should also take care that your dog stays with you at all times, as there may be snakes present.

Booking Confirmation and Check-In:
After booking, you'll access our guest app for check-in instructions. You must complete an identity verification by scanning your license/passport and credit card. This step ensures owner security by verifying your identity, akin to hotel check-ins. Your card isn't charged or stored, and you may obscure some digits. Our app meets the highest PCI compliance standards. This verification is crucial for our self-check-in process.

Early Check-In and Late Check-Out:
Early check-in and late check-out may be available upon request, subject to a fee of $50 per hour. This fee covers the cost of additional cleaning required to prepare the property between guests. Please inquire in advance to arrange.

Like most areas in Australia, we need to be mindful of water use. The water for house use is sourced from a rainwater tank and for this reason, we thank you to be careful to have short showers of a suggested length of two minutes. This will ensure there is enough water for you and your guests during your stay and also for future guests.

Likewise, we must ensure our beautiful garden is water-wise. This means that in the cooler and kinder months, our plants thrive with great beauty. However, in Summer (with heatwaves and water restrictions) our garden is challenged by dry earth and sunny skies. Please be aware that although we do our best, like most gardens in our area of Australia, our garden is waiting for the cooler months to renew and thrive!

Please be mindful of the fire restrictions from December 1 - March 31 inclusive and be aware of any current fire bans in the area before lighting any fires outside or in the wood heater inside.

Our home is in the heart of the Australian bush. We are visited almost daily with bands of kangaroos, magpies, kookaburras, the fairy splendid wren and small forest birds like the silvereye. Unfortunately, we also have a few friendly bugs that while they nourish our wildlife, they can also be annoying to the typical visiting human being! While we try to do our best to keep these unwanted guests away from our home, they are persistent and you may come across one or two of the little critters. Having said that, aren't you here to enjoy our natural surrounds well away from the shiny lights of the city?

This home is a beautifully timbered house and has its own character and charm. Please be aware that this is a character home full of interesting and well crafted features. It is not a modern house from the city- we hope that you can truly breathe deeply and enjoy all this location has to offer!

Never too old
Took my two 90+ grandparents for special get-a-way! Access was incredibly important as they both had mobility issues but the house and property were awesome! Absolutely loved the incredible magical location!!!
