The farmhouse PODERE CUNINA is a farm-holiday location within this system of architectural and landscape recovery that fully respects its environment. Traditional materials typical of the area, sourced via accurate and detailed research, were used for the renovation. Located inside a large nature reserve, with many small and medium-sized woodland animals, it offers 7 finely-renovated flats to tourists, with views of Montalcino, Mount Amiata and the hills of Buonconvento and Siena. It is equipped throughout with quality, antique furniture, fitted with all modern comforts, with maximum level certification regarding safety and energy saving (underfloor heating via geothermal system, thermal insulation, pool).

The grounds are well landscaped with natural herbs everywhere, which were used in the cooking class.
We live in the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia lans, just South of Siena. They are the best typical tuscan landscapes! (world heritage under the protection of UNESCO with the Val d’Orcia)

Cypress trees, rolling hills and village churches: the Tuscany of postcards and dreams (APT SIENA)A trip to the Crete Senesi has the flavour of a daydream with your feet placed firmly on the ground. The Crete Senesi is a voyage for the soul, an itinerary of discovery to be followed with the same spirit as the Grand Tour.
The area is not defined by piazzas, cathedrals or castles, but by nature, cypress trees, the smell of sheep’s-milk cheese pervading a little grocery, the relaxing warmth of spa waters, the mystical simplicity of a small Romanesque parish church.
The landscape of the Crete Senesi is a triumph of harmony, a timeless image, a picture that blends the forms of an Etruscan graffito and a sign of modern art. It is a harmony that gets inside you and has the power to bring your energies back into balance: emotions and sensations transform and dilate in the calm of space.
The Val d’Orcia is a treasure that offers natural beauty, iconic landscapes, charming historic hamlets and prized foods, such as fine red wines and truffe. It is one of our favorite regions in all of Tuscany because it has a bit of everything!
Situated in southern Tuscany, the Val d’Orcia offers postcard-perfect panoramas: soft hills that rise and fall as far as the eye can see, alternating colors of green fields, red terracotta rooftops and brown overturned clay depending on the season... don’t forget the majestic cypress trees! This is the landscape portrayed in paintings and postcards of Tuscany all over the world, a territory so precious that it is a UNESCO World Heritage.

Tuscan Monumental Moments

Tuscany is a dreamscape. We were told it was beautiful, seen the beauty in the movies… But we never expected it to be a complete redesign of our mental stage. Everything is made to last hundreds of years, a departure from our construction principles in the States. We found ourselves, on several occasions standing in a structure that was built before Columbus set sail. The hillsides are painted with an impossibly beautiful brush and dotted masterfully by trees running the tops of hills (something we would never do in the States), like thoughts that give rise to stunning stone “farmhouses” that would be mansions anywhere else. Amazed.

Tourism in the Italian countryside is different, more sustainable, because rich in biodiversity , the largest in Europe. Today specificity and peculiarities. It’s a tourism definitely original, that enriches the wonderful differences that offer the cultures of our countryside and of our territories. The farm is the antithesis, the opposite of mass tourism, all the same wherever you go. Encloses and enhances Italy increased and the "minor", always unique, full of flavor and unique knowledge, each of which contains the story of its territory and its traditions. A Perfect Tuscan Escape for Families
My wife and I, along with our three little kids, had a wonderful stay at this beautifully renovated farmhouse in Tuscany. We visited at the end of May when the weather was perfect, and the blooming green vegetation added to the charm. The impressive property sits atop a hill, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view of the picturesque Tuscan landscape. We were thrilled to have a direct view of the renowned Montalcino, famous for its wineries. The location was also ideal for exploring, with Siena just a convenient drive away. We stayed in a spacious and clean apartment within the large farmhouse. The traditional Tuscan decor gave it a warm and authentic feel. The garden was well-maintained, and the large pool was a highlight for the kids. The apartment was well-equipped with all modern amenities, including WiFi, a laundry machine, a dishwasher, TV, and a fully functional kitchen. Our hosts, Silvana and her family, were incredibly friendly and supportive. They welcomed us warmly and provided seamless communication throughout our stay. Their recommendations greatly enhanced our experience. It was clear that they genuinely cared about our comfort and enjoyment. Overall, we had an amazing and memorable time at this beautiful farmhouse. We highly recommend this property for a family-friendly Tuscan getaway. We look forward to returning and give it the highest rating. The hosts’ genuine care for their guests made us feel truly welcomed.

Stunning location and warm welcome
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Podere Cunina and would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy the stunning unspoilt Tuscan scenery with the most amazing 360 degree views from the pool/shared grounds that really take your breath away. The surrounding area has so much to see and do, all within 30 mins to 1 hr away and Siena is very accessible for an afternoon/evening (35 mins by car). We were only there for 5 nights/4 days and could have stayed much longer as it was such a great location. Silvana and her husband Giorgio were very warm and welcoming and gave great advice on where to visit. We'd love to visit again someday!

Perfection
I don’t even know where to begin. From the moment we arrived at Podere Cunina we were in awe of the beauty and the kindness of Silvana and her family. The listing does not do it justice. The botanic gardens are spectacular, the pool so relaxing, the home spotless and authentic, and the views mesmerizing. We were in Italy for a three week holiday and our stay at Podere Cunina was the middle of our trip. We relaxed, recharged our batteries, and enjoyed going into town for dinners. Try Il Cantuccio Wine Bar got apertivo and dinner! We will definitely return to your home Silvana. I long to sit and watch the storms roll in, hear the bees buzzing and birds singing, and smell the sweet jasmine. Grazie mille!!

Short but so sweet...
We only had two days to spend at Podere Cunina, but they were perfect days. The setting is simply beautiful. Our apartment was lovely and comfortable. Marcello took us on a full day tour of the area and we learned so much about the local wines and towns. We would love to come back at a warmer time of year to experience the pool and the outdoor places to enjoy the views.

Podere Cunina was the perfect home base for our extended holiday in Tuscany.
Our family, two adults and two boys 8 & 9 years old, absolutely adored the property that we chose based on its location. The host family was welcoming and attentive even though they were busy running a working farm. We spent a day with Marcello learning to cook a menu of traditional Tuscan dishes and this was a definite highlight for the whole family. We just left and our boys can't stop talking about our next visit.

Best place on earth!
This was our second trip to Podere Cunina and as soon as we left we were/are planning our return! We've traveled all over Italy and we haven't found another spot that is as beautiful. The view is spectacular. No power lines, highways, just gorgeous Tuscan countryside and amazing and natural landscaping on the property. It is clear that the owners have poured their hearts and souls into renovating the property and you can feel it when you visit. The property is extremely well-maintained. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. They even baked our daughter a cake for her birthday and it was delicious. We have enjoyed the cooking class that is offered on site, loved sitting by the pool, hiked to the Big Tree, and sometimes did not even leave the property. When we did leave, we enjoyed the closest town of Buon Convento and the nearby Montalcino (great shopping) and other towns so tiny they only had one (delicious!) restaurant. We also went to the hot springs and visited a monastery still in use - that also produces wine too. I can not say enough good things about Podere Cunina.

Tuscan Apartment with Amazing Views/Family!
Silvana and family came highly recommended by a friend who had stayed there before. The location, apartment and family interactions did not disappoint!!! The location is perfect for those touring wineries. The view from the top of their hill is spectacular. We enjoyed the sunset each night with a great bottle of wine. Loved having a full kitchen in our apartment as we cooked several nights at home. Take advantage of their beautiful outdoor grill area. We took the cooking class with their son Marchello. It was so much fun and we loved being able to sit down and eat our creations with the family. Marchello also took us around to wineries for two days. It was great to leverage his knowledge of wine and the region. Be sure to purchase some of their yummy honey and olive oil to cook with while you are there. They also ship!! We have already placed our orders. We can't wait to return to this lovely Tuscan gem and the wonderful family that owns it!!!

A Fantastic Five-Star Experience
Certainly a five star experience. The hosts were extremely helpful and provide a note book full of tips for cities and restaurants to visit and scenic drives to take. We booked the on-site cooking class which we highly recommend. It was a fun learning experience and gave us time to visit with the wonderful hosts. We visited for five days and left as friends. We love to drive so we spent many hours exploring the country side looking for the best views. Very few were better then the 360 degree views from the house. You can cook in the apartment or drive 10 minutes to the nearby town of Buoncovento where there are several good restaurants. We highly recommend Ristorante Mura. The apartment was very clean. You could easily spend all day at the lovely pool or just use it to cool off after a day of sight seeing. As we were leaving we were already planning our next visit.

The Tuscany of my dreams...
I can't recommend Cunina more highly, we stayed with our two boys (6&8) for 12 days in April. The Freddi family are really kind and charming hosts, the property offers stunning views and is a great location for exploring the beautiful Tuscan countryside, its historic villages and the beautiful city of Siena. Cunina is perched on a hilltop outside the charming village of Buonconvento. Pictures won't do the views justice, it is truly breathtaking, a perfect 360°. As well as rolling hills, cypress trees, dears, foxes and all kids of wildlife you can see Montalcino (famous for its Brunello wine) and Siena in the distance. The Freddi family were the most kind and thoughtful hosts, we did the cooking class and wine tour with both of which we throughly enjoyed. Marcello also took the boys bee keeping and the beautiful Silvana baked our boys an apple cake on our final day. We also visited the areas hot springs, went tree climbing, did a brilliant cycle tour (twice) with Anima Toscana and loved hanging out in Buonconvento eating Gelato and perfect Pici in Ristorante Da Mario, a local family-run restaurant, which did the best Osso Bucco I've ever tasted. I'd love to think we will head back to beautiful Cunina one day, for now we have taken some very special memories home with us.

Lovely home, lovely family
Our stay at Podere Cunina was the highlight of our trip to Italy. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, the views wonderful, and the property is very well maintained and inviting. Two of our party took a cooking class from Marcello and the rest of us then joined the family for an unforgettable evening of wonderful food and conversation. The location was great for exploring several towns and sites in the area, and for taking a day to stay home and breathe the clean Tuscan air. We would definitely stay here again!

Genuine and memorable Tuscan experience
Pondere Cunina is one of the top-grade place we have stayed at. A great location for a base and to explore SouthernTuscany. This farmhouse, is run by a genuine, passionate and hard working family. Even though are visit was during the critical timing of olive harvest and oil making, Silvana, Marcello and Piergiorgio, generously offered us a cooking class and an olive oil tasting (a must). Located on a small hill top among olive trees and a beautiful herb gardens, this place is a perfect location to enjoy the immediate surrounding while exploring the beautiful areas of Southern Tuscany. With another couple, we rented the Salix which is a large 2-bedroom apartment, clean, fully equipped kitchen with a magnificent view of the countryside. A truly Tuscan experience!

What makes this property unique

The ground has amazing colours and is so maleable that anyone passing over it leaves tracks. Livestock paths, numerous vineyards, olive-groves, truffle-grounds, and lush forests with oaks, ilexes, broom and hawthorn can be seen here..
Travelling along the rural dirt roads, often located on hill ridges, seems like sailing among waves of earth and, when overlooked by an open sky and pushed by the wind, one feels very small.
