We had a wonderful time in the cottage during the cold season. Angela was extremely helpful and always available. We loved the area, the beach and the snow in the national park. Everything was perfect!
This was our fourth and final stay on our Nova Scotia vacation and it was lovely, so restful. The cottage was perfectly wonderful and we left with grateful hearts.
Lovely place to stay on the west coast of the island
Wonderful place to stay. Great location, very comfy and well appointed. We had a wonderful time spending 6 days using this as our home base while exploring all over the highlands park.
Will definitely stay here again when we return to Cape Breton.return
This was more than just a place to base your adventures from it was also great to relax, hang out, be right at home in. The nearby beach is huge and beautiful and the cottage is adorable and comfortable! Had everything we needed and more right at hand.
We came to Cheticamp to see the rug hooking experts and we were very pleased. The people we met and the rugs that we saw were absolutely GREAT. We also had a great trip on the Cabot Trail!
The house was perfect. Well appointed, lots of room and everything we could ever want. It was perfectly located - near everything that one could want in Cheticamp. We loved the bakery Au Coin and the restaurants in the area. A great vacation place! Thank you.
This was one of our favorite rentals when staying in numerous rentals across Nova Scotia and PEI. It it located on the edge of Cheticamp and the edge of Cape Brenton Highlands National Park. The house was clean and bright with lots of natural light. There is a walking path to the beach where the sunsets were beautiful. Cheticamp is a cute town with some shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the Doryman for the food and music, breakfast at Restaurant Evangeline and pizza from Wabo's Pizza.
Amazing quiet place at the edge of a village.with private access to the huge beach and petite etang. Our dog was so happy here.
All you need is in the house even a lot of nice coffee. Thank you Angela.
Very clean property. Everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Enjoyed the short walk to the private beach. Close to many hiking trails and amenities in Cheticamp. Would definitely recommend this property and would return without hesitation
Absolutely stunning views near by, 20 minutes to the skyline trail (gorgeous drive the time flies). The host has really put love and effort into all the little details of this place. It was extremely cozy and welcoming to come back to at the end of the day. Would 1000% stay again! Suggestions to make it even better would be to have some soap available for the shower, increase water pressure if at all possible (it’s not a deal breaker). Very happy we had the opportunity to stay here. The host is also very talented with her macramé skills, which you can enjoy throughout the home.
The property is cozy and very clean. The cottage is well stocked and we liked the coffee bar area. We loved the location including being so close to town, the park entrance, and the delicious bakery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We loved this beautifully decorated, contemporary and comfortable place, which was a perfect base for hiking the eastern side of Cape Breton Highlands National Park - just a 5min drive to the visitor centre.
The cottage is in a peaceful neighbourhood just a bit off the main road, and everything was very comfortable - lots of light, comfy beds, and a great couch and rocking chair for reading. Very well appointed kitchen where we enjoyed cooking dinners - it was so pleasant we weren’t even tempted to go out to eat. The place is beautifully decorated too, lots of nice attention to detail.
Great communication with hosts as well. All around a wonderful stay!
Perfect location for a quiet getaway. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The private beach was a five-minute walk away. The nearby bakery was fifteen minutes away on foot and was excellent. Restaurants and various craft outlets a few minutes away by car. Right on the doorstep of the Highlands National Park with its breathtaking trails. A wonderful place to spend a week.
My husband and I, as well as our two dogs, absolutely loved this home and had a hard time leaving! We have stayed at numerous rentals and this one felt more like home than many! Loved the fact that we could walk right to the water, and the views of the surrounding hills and the peak of the ocean from the house was very special. The home itself is so warm and welcoming, and has everything you need. And spotless...so a special thanks to Melissa's mom for that!
We did not have the best weather but made the most of our time there and actually loved our drives along the coast when the ocean was a bit angry! Of course the Cabot Trail was on our list, and though the day we did a drive over to Ingonish it started out cloudy and foggy, the other side of the island was beautiful with blue skies!
On one of our drives, I was thrilled to find the campground in Inverness that I went to as a child with my family and never forgot, even though I was never sure of the location on Cape Breton!
All in all, just magical. Thank you so much Melissa, we will never forget our time there! :)
This property is lovely! Angela certainly attends to the details her guests will appreciate. Well cared-for front and back lawns, complete kitchen, super comfy sleeping, dining, and lounging areas. The cottage is located close to Cheticamp where many dining options are available. The private beach is certainly private which we LOVED. The location and bright cheery nautical decor helped create an oasis of tranquility from our busy lives. Definitely a Premiere host. We would stay here again if ever back up to Cape Breton from the USA!
Such a perfect spot to spend a week exploring Cape Breton. This home is charming, immaculate, and we had everything we needed. The location between Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the town of Cheticamp was very convenient. The Aucoin bakery just down the street was amazing! We stopped there several times picking up sandwiches and treats for our trips into the park.
A must do hike is the Skyline Trail which is only about 20 minutes from the house. We also enjoyed our drive along the Cabot Trail to Ingonish.
We did have two rainy days and we enjoyed visiting Les Trois Pignons to learn about rug hooking, the Freya and Thor folk art gallery, and the quirky Centre de la Micareme.
There’s a short wooded pathway from the house to a private beach area and if you want to swim or catch an amazing sunset there’s also Le Buttereau Beach, a short drive from the house. Another recommended hike is the Gypsum Mine Lake trail which is only about a 5 minute drive from the house.
Really enjoyed our stay!
Great cottage and location. It had all everything you could have wanted. And the start of Cabot Trail just down the road. Really had a relaxing time. And great place for our dog. Huge yard for her to run around.

Hello/Bonjour! We are the Chiasson's: Amelia, Angela, Carrie, Greg and Camille. We are proudly Acadian and we are from the Cheticamp area. We purchased Sunset Lane Cottage as our home away from home, as, all 3 "children" live in different parts of the world. Amelia and Camille (mom and dad) live a hop, skip and a jump from this property. We are eager to share our cozy sunset haven with others who visit this beautiful area. Thank you for being here :).
