Casa del Sol, House of the Sun;
Gates crafted of old wood and saguaro ribs welcome you to a shaded courtyard embracing a quintessential Southwest territorial masterpiece, set lightly upon two lush Sonoran Desert acres. This is Casa del Sol, the house of the sun. This special place seems miles from anywhere, yet it’s centrally located in the heart of north Scottsdale, minutes from major event venues, restaurants, shopping, art fairs, golf and more.
Casa del Sol offers visual and sensual delights from the moment you enter. Be charmed by the curvy snake that opens the pivoting front door. Be amazed by walls of windows that frame the Sonoran Desert by day offering views of the ancient and famous landmarks of Pinnacle Peak and Camelback Mountain. As the day wanes, be awed by serene vistas and ever-changing purple and red hues of the rugged McDowell Mountains against a cerulean sky.
Architecture and Design. This dwelling reflects the true Southwest, a delightful mix of Spanish roots, Moroccan details, American Indian lore and the cowboy culture of the American West. Yet, the translation is not confined to the traditional. Full round pine viga poles are interspersed inside and outside and provide the traditional structural framework, but the beautiful wood latilla ceiling is made from reclaimed grapevine stakes. Flagstone floors provide a timeless foundation and the artist-painted wall hues change throughout the light of the day, offering an intriguing background for fine art, folk art and print collections.
The décor is an eclectic combination of Southwest-traditional with hand-hewn woods, embossed metals on ethnic carved cabinets, woven textiles, and colorful rugs, peppered with contemporary whimsy to keep you in a vacation state of mind.
