The Space:
Wallaby Cabin is a 139-square-foot accommodation located on the outskirts of Crackenback, just 2 hours away from Canberra. Near Lake Crackenback, one of the most popular bushwalking trails, and Thredbo, home to the longest ski runs in the world. In closing, we have Wild Brumby Distillery, which is well known for its gin and schnapps.
A lovely, tiny house NSW retreat with easy access to water, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. The bathroom, however, follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that there will be other guests on the property during your stay. Wombat Cottage, also called "Wallaby 2" sits on the same property. If you want to book in groups, you can contact the land host ahead of time to make arrangements.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surrounding areas, including trails leading to the dam, the front gate, and even the rock caves at the top of our property. Please note that : Driveway is a steep gravel road, AWD/4WD recommended but not required.
NOTICE TO ALL GUESTS: Please take note that this tiny house is an off-grid unit that runs on solar energy. We advise guests to conserve energy during the day and only use it when necessary. Overall, minimal consumption is advised to prevent power outages when using solar power. No air-conditioning facility, only heater is available

- Perisher and Charlotte Pass are ski resorts accessible via Skitube where you can enjoy skiing and snow tubing.

- Lake Crackenback is a natural attraction where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as river-side strolls, hiking, trout fishing, and more.
Getting Around:
By car: 5 hrs 7 min drive via M31 from Sydney
6 hrs 38 min drive via National Highway M31 from Melbourne
2 hr 23 min drive via Monaro Hwy/B23 and Kosciuszko Rd from Canberra
If coming from Sydney Airport, you can travel to Canberra Airport instead. From there, you can easily catch a taxi or Uber to your destination.
By public transport: Sydney and Melbourne via bus or train to Canberra then Jindabyne
Taxi service in Jindabyne is also available and accessible at the property
However, guests are strongly advised to have or hire a car, as the area and property are too remote to rely on public transportation.
Other Things to Note:
Please keep in mind that check-in and check-out will be restricted due to limited access during the winter season, which runs from June to October:
- For weekday bookings, check-in would be on Sundays and check out on Fridays (minimum of 5 nights)
- For weekend bookings, check-in would be on Fridays and check out on Sundays (minimum of 2 nights)
- No wifi

- Please help us leave a small footprint as much as possible

- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- We have pet dogs on our property, but they should not bother you if you stay out of chained/roped off areas
- Please do not flush sanitary or any other waste except the toilet paper provided. Bags are provided for the disposal of these items

- Please contact your land host 24 hours in advance to make arrangements
Safety Guidelines
- We advise guests to keep an eye on children inside as the stairs to the loft is quite steep
- Guests with infants are recommended to bring their own portable travel cot during their stay
- We strictly advise guests to follow these safety guidelines to avoid potential accidents on the property
Important note:
- Guests are advised to bring portable power banks in case of low power
- Guests are also advised to save energy to avoid running out of electricity
- Please charge your phone and electronics in advance in case of low-light days
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- In order to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our compost toilets a minimum additional cleaning fee is applied for stays of 5 nights or more. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a hygienic experience during your stay.
