Greatest family weekend

Our stay was delightful. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. The outdoor grounds were beautiful. Watching nature unfold, swimming in the pool, and relaxing in the whirlpool were just a few highlights. Every possible item you needed in the kitchen was there. Even the dog thought she made it to heaven.

Relaxing family getaway

We stayed at Lavender Hill for five nights with six adults and two grandchildren. It rained for most of our stay. We did manage to use the pool which was great. The property was really the highlight with so many seating areas. The covered dinning table was a life saver because of the weather. The bedrooms were a good size as well as the bathrooms. The kitchen could use a bit of a refresh and a problem with flies which we pointed out to them.Communication was wonderful. We had a little issue and they immediately took care of it. Overall a great stay.

Perfect NYC Escape

This was a perfect 4th of July escape from NYC. We managed to keep the driving to reasonable times given the holiday weekend. The property was everything that was advertised. A beautifully maintained property that offers real privacy, with all the amenities you would want for a summer escape-- pool, firepit, hot tub, and acres of beautiful property to look at and explore. The house is rustic, roomy, and with the feel of a villa in Southern Europe, highlighted by an incredible book collection that makes me want to come back to read! The property is also very dog friendly (our pup Ruthie was in heaven the whole weekend) and filled with friendly wildlife- deer, turkeys, and chipmunks abounded.

Fantastic, Five-Star Vacation!

We had a fantastic vacation! This property ticks all the boxes. Comfort, privacy and a heated pool nestled in the shadow of the Shawangunk mountain ridge. The hosts are very friendly, they live in a separate house across the wide driveway; They are friendly and available when needed but respect your privacy. The rental house is completely separate and private from the hosts' residence. A lovely property with many shaded nooks to hang out, snack, swim, read, relax, etc.. Don't neglect to visit Minnewaska while you are here. Check out the trail up to Castle Rock. The view of the 'Gunks and the Catskills in the distance will blow your mind! Thanks Irina and Richard, for your hospitality. We're so glad we came and we look forward to the next occasion, if we get the chance!

I will be back! My happy place

I have found my happy place. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us. We came for a quick trip but we will be back for longer this summer for sure. The grounds are even nicer then pictured. You can tell they are constantly improving. We walked to the stream. We used the hot tub day and night. We sat outdoors and indoors. We cooked dinner in the great kitchen. It was not warm enough for the pool yet but that's why we want to come back this summer. We did visit some places in the area. We took a hike around minnewaska lake and stopped at tuthill distillery on the way back. Honestly we didn't want to leave the property. I barely could bring myself to leave when our time was up. We will be back.

Provence in New York!

We had a wonderful time at this special property. Irena and Richard were the perfect hosts. Although they live on the property, they were completely unobtrusive and left us to ourselves after check-in. The house was absolutely immaculate, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. All the reviews mentioning the towels are true; the number of towels in this house is mind-boggling. The pool area is completely private and riddled with seating options, while the hot tub is top-of-the-line. We spent a lot of time under the pergola; the fan and overhead lighting make it the perfect spot for evening card games. Irena and Richard have thought of everything! We hope to stay here again next year.

Beautiful property, relaxing stay

We had a wonderful week-long stay this summer. We spent every day lounging by the pool and our family (including our girls and our dog) loved exploring the property and playing in the yard. It was a great escape from the NYC area. The house was cozy, comfortable and easy to settle into. All the small details were thought of - the kitchen was great and there were plenty of beach towels and floats. We left ready to plan our next stay!

Magical!!

We had an incredible family vacation at this property and would strongly recommend it to everyone!!! Our hosts, Irena and Richard were so incredibly sweet and accommodating and made us feel at home. The home and property are breathtaking and made us feel relaxed and rejuvenated. The nostalgia of the home was something out of a storybook that made you feel somehow deeply connected to the past. We can't say enough! Thank you Irena and Richard!

All we hoped for and more

My wife and I stayed with our two sons and families - 6 adults and two children ages 4 and 10 and our dog. The house is absolutely perfect. The kitchen (and outdoor grill) are great for cooking for a large group and the dining area outside is delightful. We had total privacy even tough Richard and Irena are nearby and they were totally considerate of our space. The grounds are absolutely lovely with beautiful flowers and hummingbirds flying around. The pool is heated and the hot tub is new and cosy. My son's last words before they returned home to Minnesota were "Can we plan on staying here every year?" and my answer is "Yes. That would be perfect."

beautiful property, excellent stay, please read on

We stayed for 4 nights this week on the combined occasions of my wife’s mother’s birthday, and my and my wife’s wedding anniversary. In our group we had 5 adults and 4 children ranging in age from 3 to 12. The property is gorgeous and secluded and was even nicer than what we were hoping for based on the listing. Property owners Richard and Irena live next door and are a very sweet couple with grandchildren of their own. They were always available for questions or to assist with the house and at one point they even brought over some fresh zucchini they picked from their own garden next door and gave it to us to use in our cooking. Very easygoing and good hosts, and to be clear they left us alone except for when we called them and when they brought over the zucchini as a gift. As for the amenities: welcoming swimming pool area with views of a field that has a walking trail that our 3 year old loved to go on. Outdoor shower by the pool area for those who are into communing with nature that way. Outdoor furniture all over the property, from the pool area to the barbecue/dining area to the front of the house - it seems like they’ve thought of these little details to make everything as convenient as possible for the guests. All sides of the house have picturesque views, especially the field behind the house with the walking trail that i mentioned earlier. Very convenient bluetooth speakers in the dining/barbecue area that we enjoyed using during our outdoor dinners, a well-maintained outdoor hot tub just steps from the swimming pool area, strong wifi in the house, a TV with full streaming services, more towels that we could ever need for both pool and shower (robes too), excellent fully equipped kitchen that we made great use of, little games here and there for the kids (like cornhole set, outdoor jenga, also a selection of books for our 3 year old), good water pressure in the showers, and very nice Japanese-style automated toilet seat in the main upstairs bathroom. I hope I’ve covered everything, like i said, it seems like Richard and Irena have thought of everything, especially the little things. Would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous grounds + heated pool

We had a wonderful stay here recently. The grounds are well-maintained, serene and nice to explore. Rooms are cute, well appointed and very clean. Thanks to cooperative weather, we dined outdoors on the patio nearly every meal and enjoyed the pool nearly every day. We didn't have to leave the property often, which with two young kids in our group was a luxury. In the evenings it was easy to relax outdoors or watch TV. The hot tub was not near any bedroom windows, which made nap and bedtimes easier for the adults. The owner was kind and very responsive, we had to ask a few questions during our stay. He gave us a good tour upon arrival and only returned to tend to the gardens and pool. He tried to stay out of our way and was very courteous. Check out and garbage management was a breeze, way simpler than most vacation rentals in remote areas. The only thing to point out is that the fourth bedroom is kind of a sunroom, so if a person needs privacy during the day or pitch darkness to sleep it might be challenging. (We didn't need this bedroom and used it as a common area.) We would love to visit here again another time! Thank you for your hospitality.

Charming Cottage with Nice Pool

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this property, despite getting rained out. The swimming pool is very nice, and the outdoor furniture is new. The entire property is nicely maintained. The new hot tub also was fantastic given that it was too cold or rainy for us to use the pool comfortably each day. The meadow and views from the house are exceptional, and the house is comfortable with all necessary cooking tools. The rear terrace with dining table is covered and a wonderful place to sit and work outside. Travelers should know that the owners live next door, although they are respectful of privacy and yet close at hand in case you need anything. The wifi is good inside the house, but the owners might consider adding outdoor signal boosters so that there is wifi available in the pool area and at all of the seating areas outside the house. Overall, we had a very nice stay despite the weather, and we will be back again!

A perfectly lovely stay!

We had a wonderful time at Lavender Hill and will be back. The owners were responsive and helpful but respected our privacy and space. The property was everything we wanted and needed. The home is rustic, well appointed, and well maintained. The grounds were exactly what we needed for sledding, hiking through the woods, building snowmen and having snowball fights. And it was all directly in our backyard. One morning we put our snow clothes over our pjs and played outside before breakfast- the kids were delighted. Groceries, wine and anything else was a short trip away. This was exactly what we needed to rest and rejuvenate.

wonderful long week-end

Our hosts could not have been more accommodating to us. We were a small family group...grandmother, parents and their six-month old. The house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We used only two of the bedrooms, so could have had a slightly larger group. We had everything we needed to be comfortable, to enjoy preparing and eating meals together. The property is expansive and beautiful. We visited in early fall just as the weather was beginning to turn. We had been hoping for a few more days of late summer weather so we could enjoy the heated swimming pool...it was just a bit too cool for that. It was pleasant enough for us to have some meals in an attractive outdoor space. The house is charming and full of artistic touches, colorful artifacts. The location is quiet and serene, but not very far from "civilization." i am happy to recommend it for a group like ours. I would be happy to visit again, but will have to wait until our baby is past the toddler stage. Once she is crawling/walking we will require a place that is baby-proofed to protect her and also all the lovely objects around the house.
