Winter getaway with family

Owner is attentive and responsive. View is beautiful. We spent most our time in the porch by the fire. House was clean with a great layout. We enjoyed our quick stay!

Unexpected

First off, I will say the owner, Dave, was very courteous and went out of his way to make right what was wrong on our first day arriving. We walked in finding the cabin not cleaned at all and all beds stripped and dirty laundry of bedding on the floor. It made our first day not pleasant at all, but we made due with backup cleaning ladies coming to our rescue. They worked around us as we got our dinner ready. For the cabin itself, we liked the layout of it but the outside is in dire need of repair and major cleanup. Loved having two full baths. Grill needs to be propane instead of charcoal. It made our food taste smokey. Not enough pots and pans available. Fireplace did not vent properly. No toaster but a toaster oven. Took way to long to toast especially if you have a large group. What mattered the most, we were with family. Again, I say, the owner couldn't apologize enough for the mix up.

Pleasant stay in the Poconos

We had a lovely, relaxing family vacation in this lakefront property. We enjoyed the wildlife, ducks, geese, and deer, in the yard. The paddleboat, kayaks, and canoes, and the fire pit were great features we used.

Good week with the family

We enjoyed our week with family on the property. With the boats, fishing from the dock, and games in the house we were occupied all week. The house was spacious enough to give teens their space and still have enough room for all. Thanks!

Perfect family fun.

Kids and adults alike enjoyed the lake immensely. The ready availability of the kayaks, canoes, and paddle boat really added to the enjoyment. The sunroom was perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and board games with the kids. The property is not without its flaws. While charming there are definite upgrades that would help. Some of the windows do not open and on hot days it gets stuffy. Most of the ACs are outdated and do not work efficiently. There are areas of the home inside and outside that could use some well deserved TLC. This place could be fabulous…That said, this is all constructive criticism. The little issues are largely meaningless when you consider the incredible memories you can make at a place like this. The lake, fire pit, and wildlife make much of this trivial. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Little touches-e.g., umbrellas on the outdoor tables, working coffee maker, and getting rid of visible debris under the deck would make this a 5 star rating. Mind you, I would come back next year regardless for all the fun we had. Property owner was professional and responsive which is always appreciated.

Lakefront relaxation

The house was nice and big enough for all,, even could have had more,, but 7 is enough. Sons an girlfriends took advantage of paddle boat an kayaks to do some fishing. One girlfriend caught her first fish ever! Nice touch with AC in bedrooms as we went during a very hot week. Our dog was thrilled with the deer that literally just hang out in the yard! The porch was my favorite!

Relaxing Stay

We had a wonderful time relaxing and staying here for the week. The description of the property is accurate. It was clean and very comfortable. There's 2 docks, 3 kayaks, a canoe and a paddle boat to use. I would suggest bringing a few comfortable chairs for the back yard. The lake was quiet and peaceful. We plan on going back again.

Good but strange wildlife

Overall pretty good, the wildlife there are out of control though. We had alot of geese, ducks, and deer literally coming right up to us, getting into the trash, and generally zero fear of us. It's obvious they are being fed by the community.

Renter Beware - owner cancelled booking 48 hours before our trip

We booked this property for a family weekend getaway over Memorial day weekend. We booked the property for Thursday through Monday. On Tuesday night, less than 48 hours before our vacation was due to start the owner contacted me to tell me he had accidentally double booked his house and so had to cancel our rental. This was despite the fact that I'd been in regular contact with him via the VRBO email system for weeks before the rental. Unsurprisingly, there were no other houses available before the holiday weekend, VRBO was unwilling to help in any way, so we had to scramble on our own to book hotels and come up with alternate plans to salvage the weekend. Our relaxing long weekend at the lake was ruined. It's Memorial Day Monday as I write this and as of yet the refund has not yet hit my credit card, though I've been told by VRBO has been processed. Take any booking you make with VRBO merely as a suggestion, not a reservation, and be prepared with backup plans as VRBO will do little to nothing to help if an owner cancels.

Perfect Getaway

This house had everything we needed for a fun stay! The kids enjoyed fishing, kayaking and playing outside even in the really cold weather. We had a few questions during our stay and Ron answered them immediately.

The definition of rustic needs updating

If you are an easy going person with low expectations this place will be fine for you. Otherwise keep looking. The pictures of the place are pretty old and the house could use an update and a deep cleaning. There is a large hole in the floor in the entrance that has been covered with a cardboard box and a welcome mat. The day we arrived there was a leak in the ceiling in one of the rooms and the cleaners and left a pot on the bed to collect the water. The garbage can in the kitchen had caked on dirt and debris on the lid from previous guests. We didn't feel comfortable cooking or using any of the dishes or pots and pans.

The perfect panacea for the the past 12 months!

The owners' description of the property being a "Lakefront Paradise" is spot on. My family and my two sisters' families (9 people) looked for a place to go and get away for a few days. This property was ideal in that it offered a place for the adults to sit back and relax while located close enough to Camelback ski resort to provide entertainment for the kids. As for the sunroom overlooking the lake, we spent the majority of our time sitting by the potbelly stove just talking, reading, and playing games. The property was spacious and comfortably housed the 3 families. And the owner (Ron) was one of the best I've dealt with in my years of VRBO renting.

Great lake views and set up for families!

We enjoyed our long weekend with these excellent lake views and games / bunks for the kids! Skiiing / tubing is about 30 min away. The firepit would have been great except there was 30" of snow and it wasn't going to be feasible. Beds were comfortable and the linens provided were fine quality. Kitchen was stocked enough with coffee filters, pots/pans, etc. If we go back to the area, we would consider returning for sure.

Cozy but spacious lakefront cabin

Our two families of four had a great stay at the cozy lakefront cabin. There was plenty of room for everyone and the sunroom overlooking the lake with the wood stove was our favorite. The kitchen had everything we needed and seating for eight at the table (in the sunroom). Gated community so check in was different for us but easy. The kids had a ball playing in tons of snow and skating on the lake. Would love to return and enjoy the summer season on the lake sometime too!
