We usually go to Sanibel Island every year for a week long stay just us as a couple. After Hurricane Ian, that's not going to happen for quite a while. So we made a quick reservation here.
Snails Pace is a great location. On the north end of the Island, so I think it's a little quieter, which is what we like. But still quite a few restaurants to chose from. We LOVED Ginney and Jane E's for breakfast and lunch, so much so, we ordered lunch 'to go' to have for dinner later. We also liked Pizza Social, Slims and the City Pier. Most of it is within walking distance, if you don't mind walking. There are several rental places for golf carts, bikes, etc. if you want to instead of driving your car.
Short walk to the beach, which is pristine. Beautiful white sand, hard packed in a sense. Unfortunately no shell's for the wife to hunt for (which Sanibel is known for). I was able to fish on shore, caught several types of fish, especially little Bonnet Head Sharks. Great sunsets to watch. The city pier is nearby for fishing. They have bait and rent fishing rods as well. (and beer).
The unit itself is immaculately clean. Regular size stove top, with a double oven, one being convection. Full size fridge. Water was clean, seemed like city water. (We're native Floridians and can drive with all of our beach stuff including a water filter for drinking). Big TV in the living room, good sized one in the bedroom. A real cable box for all your normal channels and a DVD player. Kitchen was well stocked, no real big pots or skillets, but big enough for two people to make meals. Nice dish rack, toaster, regular coffee maker, microwave. A few left over staples were available, like Pam spray, salt, pepper, coffee, filters. Full size washer/dryer with several types of detergent available, and dryer sheets. There was a regular sized Weber gas grill that was clean and in good working order. (each unit has their own). Cooked a couple of good sirloins on it!
The wood deck on the back was a great place to sit and read. I did fish several times on the deck. The first night I caught a nice sized Crevalle Jack, but after that, not much else. I tried multiple type of bait and lures. But still, we would just sit out there with a drink, waiting for sunset with a book or a crossword. You do have a typical patio table and 4 chairs with an umbrella just outside the front door if you want to eat dinner outside just for your use. There also is some beach stuff available for folks who fly in. A couple of beach chairs, beach towels to use, umbrellas, etc. and a wagon (similar to ours) to haul all of your stuff to the beach.
There were two things we didn't like which made me give it a 4 star.
1. The bed is hard. I know some people like that, I'm not one of those, but my wife is, and she agreed it was a little on the hard side. And we didn't think it was an actual queen. Granted we have those Sleep Number beds that are basically two twins put together (King sized) and we adjust our "Sleep Number" to our individual liking, so we may be a "little" spoiled?!?!
2. The ceiling is open between the bedroom and the rest of the unit. So, if you're like me, and wake up before your partner and like to watch tv with coffee, it has to be quiet.
Over all, the unit was well worth the price. Location, appliances, cleanliness, amenities well worth it. We didn't have any need to contact Anna Maria Rentals during our stay, but they provided great check in/out emails and we had no issues.
One final thing, there is a Publix on the island just as you come over the bridge (Manatee Ave/Hwy 64). For those not from FL, Publix is the best supermarket in FL. It's a smaller version, but well stocked with anything you would need. Including the cheapest frozen bait.
