About this property

River Rest: Romantic & Relaxing Setting with Hot Tub on a Trophy Trout Stream

River Rest is THE perfect place to stay for adults who seek a private home, quiet surroundings, and an overall luxury destination that is nestled beside a pristine, trout stream featuring a Native American (Cherokee or Anigiduwagi) fish trap.

Access to the cabin involves several outside steps that lead to the main entrance front doors. Thus, the cabin is not not handicapped accessible and not suitable for people with difficulties walking up steps (see photos that show steps leading to the front door). The property uses outdoor video for security surveillance only. Cameras cover the driveway, lower deck, and steps leading up to and including cabin main front entrance doors with lock box. Inside cabin, hot tub area, and main seating area on screened upper deck are private and not in camera view.

Travel Tip - Drive to the Property. Access to the cabin once within Coosawattee Resort involves driving on a winding, 2-lane, well-maintained, paved road. The last mile of the drive to the cabin property includes gravel roads with two steep hills. Any guest with limited experience driving on gravel roads with/without hills may want to contact Owner prior to initiating a booking request.

We feature distinctive traditional and antique furnishings, a hot tub, on-site fishing in a trophy trout stream, situated on a quiet, secluded lane in Coosawattee River Resort. (2 night minimum)

Push aside the electronics (although we have WiFi if you can't). Spend time strolling up and down the lane by the house, fishing in the private waters of a trophy trout stream, unwinding in the hot tub, gazing at a star-studded clear night, and bathing in the noises that surround this north Georgia retreat: tree frogs at night, the rush of the burbling creek 24/7 from the comfort of the screened porch. You deserve the rest-and-relaxation. We offer the ideal location that is secluded, yet not isolated from the amenities you need.

We are a 15 minute drive off Interstate 515 in North Georgia, a 30 minute drive from Amicalola Falls State park, a 25 minute drive from Blue Ridge, a 15-20 minute drive from several apple orchards, 10 minute drive from the fabulous Ellijay Apple Festival, and no distance at all from one of the most beautiful sections of Mountaintown Creek. It's a secluded cabin on a private drive in a REFRESHING environment that has something elegant and enjoyable for all styles and preferences: trout FISHING and TUBING in your FRONT YARD, a hot tub, a clean, mountain creek to splash in, gourmet kitchen, cozy den for the enjoyment of TV, a wood burning FIREPLACE, and a welcoming decor.

The cabin is also near other exciting, outdoor activity sites (golf course, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting).

Our creek front cabin is spacious and will comfortably accommodate 2-4 adult friends, a family of 4, or 2 couples traveling together. It's of course, ideal for a romantic getaway for two.

River Rest is nestled in a secluded area on the Mountaintown Creek: only four other cabins nearby. One cabin is next door to River Rest, the others are not visible from our property. There are no properties within sight across the creek from us, just beautiful undeveloped wooded land. All paved roads, up until the last mile before the cabin. Then, the road turns to gravel, but it is accessible for all types of vehicles. The air seems to feel just a little bit lighter and cooler, and the sleep is always much deeper and peaceful here. It's a short 15-minute drive from the Ellijay square and local grocery, shopping, and dining options.

The creek by the cabin is a TROUT fisher's local pilgrimage site and flows like a gentle river: about 60 feet wide, 1 to 4 feet deep, and perfect for fly fishing, wading, and floating. Local ANGLERS call Mountain town Creek 'one the most picturesque and beautiful trout streams in North Georgia and is quietly becoming one of the best trophy trout streams in the state.'

Enjoy the beauty of a unique, Native American fish-trap in the Mountaintown creek on cabin property. In the morning, wake to a dip in the hot tub or creek, followed by a breakfast on the porch with brewed coffee, pancakes, syrup, and local apples. At night, wrap yourself in a cotton throw on the screened porch and listen to the burbling water. Tubes for floating are provided in season.

This beautiful creek front cabin features unique, traditional décor and amenities. The first floor has 1 bedroom with a queen-sized pencil post bed, 1 bathroom which was updated recently with shower and tub, den, kitchen, dining area with breakfast table, and screened porch and deck.

The second floor has 1 bedroom with 1 queen-sized, post bed, 1 bathroom which was updated recently with a shower, loft with sleeper sofa, and large walk-in closet. All one-of-a-kind furnishings are selected to make you feel at home.

The screened porch has charming, white wicker furniture including a dining table that seats 4, ceiling fans, and rocking chairs. You'll want to sit and stay as long as possible to play some checkers, read a book, or dine with friends and family. The deck has a picnic table for four, and is a great spot for morning coffee.

The HOT TUB is an easy few steps from the door. It is private, faces an undeveloped creekfront lot, seats 5 people, and is accessible from the deck with a great view of the creek.

Last, and our favorite, the cabin has a small and growing 'Lending LIBRARY.' Need a book to read while you are here? Can't finish it during your stay? Fine. Keep it and return it upon your next stay. Leave a book for our other guests if you bring one of your own.

Your friends and family will thank you for selecting a special place for building memories, having fun, and relaxing. River Rest offers a home away from home. You need the rest, and you're always at home at River Rest.

Just What We Needed

This beautiful, cozy woodland retreat is just what we needed to reconnect and recharge. The kitchen is very well furnished, and all of the towels/mats are resort quality. Every detail of the interior has been carefully chosen in excellent taste. We were very thankful to be driving a truck, otherwise we may not have been able to get to/from the cabin on the sloped gravel lane due to several very heavy rains throughout the weekend. We hope to make this home a regular getaway destination. It was just perfect. Thank you so much!

Remote creek cabin

Very clean and secluded cabin within the 5,500 acre Coosawattee resort. Drove 3500 dually crew cab long bed truck to cabin without problem. Roads are very nicely paved. The last couple hundred yards are gravel but well maintained. The creek is great. Easy to get into and swim or fish. Beds are really firm. Nice kitchen. Great getaway. We had a blast.

Always great

Our 4th or 5th time staying here. Consistently beautiful and peaceful. Everything is always well stocked, in great repair and where it needs to be. This cabin is definitely remote. Takes a while to get out of the neighborhood but it’s worth it! Also, No where to easily go on a walk or run. Just be aware! Love this place

Summer get away

This little cabin is in a resort/neighborhood, but this lot is pretty remote and just feet from the stream. The sound of the stream is relaxing. This cabin is very close to Elijay and a 25 minute drive to Blueridge. It was a great basecamp. The cabin was clean. Kitchen well stocked as far as dishes, etc for fixing meals. We didn't do any heavy cooking because there are good restaurants close by. The power did go out due to a storm and fallen tree on a line somewhere in the neighborhood, but power was restored in three hours. Overall we had a great time and would consider this property again if we go back to Elijay.

River Rest is a quaint, cozy cabin that accommodates 4 people quite well. Sarah was extremely accessible and responsive throughout our stay. Our favorite part was being able to sit in the river on the provided chairs! Oh…and seeing all the deer, especially the babies!!!

Nice, secluded cabin

If you are looking for seclusion, this cabin offers it. It is on a private lane with only a few other cabins around. It is a little bit of an adventure to get to, but well worth the effort! It was very quiet and beautiful and is great inside and out, with great views of Mountaintown Creek. The cabin was well appointed and the screened porch was very nice. We would recommend this property for small groups.

About the host

Host profile image
Our family lives a short distance from Ellijay. We take pride in offering River Rest to guests, and make use of the cabin for personal use when our schedules permit.

Why they chose this property

My family purchased this property a few years ago, after falling in love with the beauty of Mountaintown creek that flows by us as well as the quiet, dead-end lane where the cabin is located. In addition, we like the Ellijay area, because it represents a sharp departure from the cookie-cutter, over crowded, mountain vacation destinations we have seen elsewhere. Ellijay and the surrounding area offers our family ample options with regard to outdoor activities as well as the chance to be together away from the hustle and bustle of life.

What makes this property unique

This cabin reflects the touch of an interior decorator, and our personal preferences with regard to furnishings. We think that the decor as well as the cabin location offer a unique destination for guests.
