NEW!! Cabin in the Clouds ~ Easy Downtown Access w Parking!
Summary:
This attic loft is ideal for dreamers to reset, reflect, and relax when decompressing from the hustle and bustle of D.C. life! Come stay in our beautifully renovated one-bedroom apartment with its own entrance, nestled at the top of a beautiful period home, perfect for any traveler.
The Space:
What a treat once you have climbed to the top! Relax in this chic and stylish design scheme with airy open space, timber beams and high ceilings. We can comfortably sleep 4 guests with the following configuration:
-Living Room space has a sofa bed that sleeps 2
-Private bedroom includes a Queen Size bed
Stream to your heart`s content on the large TV allowing guests to unwind together, and catch their favorite shows! The full kitchen is complete with all of the essentials & appliances - the bijou dining table doubles as a laptop-friendly workspace (with views of the horizon) or to enjoy a quick meal before heading out for the day. On the landing is a separate desk area in case you need some peace to work or take that unexpected work call. Guests can stroll down the iron staircase to the backyard, to discover a quiet, darling patio area! Awaken to a quiet breeze, undisturbed by the busy on-goings just outside your door.
Guest Access:
The apartment at the top of a residence that has long-term tenants, it is a completely separate unit and does require access via 3 flights of stairs. A wonderful surprise when you reach the top but not well suited to those with mobility issues.
The Neighborhood:
The apartment is in 16th St heights which borders Petworth, a newly trending and becoming popular with families and the younger DC crowd as it`s residential but has great access to downtown.
There is a true sense of community here, and everyone looks out for each other. Porch culture reigns supreme and families pushing prams, and folks walking their dogs.
You will find lots of great little eateries and coffee shops on 14th st, Georgia Ave and in Petworth. Fun facts about the neighborhood; Lincoln`s Cottage (off of Rock Creek Church Road), where President Lincoln used to vacation when he wanted to get away from the city, is one of this neighborhood’s hidden gems. The nearby Rock Creek Cemetery dates back to 1712; both the Cemetery and the Armed Forces Retirement Home are on the National Register of Historic Places. The Fitzgerald Tennis Center is just a short stroll away.
Getting Around:
We are nestled between two metro stations (Georgia Ave-Petworth 1 mile away, green and yellow lines, and Fort Totten metro, where you can catch the red line). Our neighborhood is full of transportation options!
We`re a 20 minute drive from the White House (Uber`s are plentiful in the area), but there are buses that can take you directly to the National Mall in 35/40 minutes.
There is a bus stop 1 minute away from the home that can take you to Metro Center Station (red line).
From there you`re just 3 stops from Union Station, which is nestled among the major sights, including the U.S. Capitol Building, the Smithsonian Museums, and the National Mall.
Bus lines in the immediate vicinity (70/79/52/54 within two blocks). The S2 or S4 bus can have guests on the White House steps in half an hour.
Uber and Lyft taxi`s are plentiful in the area as well (and we provide coupon codes to take $$ off)!
Distance to airports via car:
DCA - ~25 min;
Dulles - ~51 min;
BWI - ~53 min.
Other Things to Note:
