Shearers Quarters is a self contained cottage set in Chelston Farm. It is a unique slice of New Zealand farming history. It has a beautiful private outlook with the sights and sounds of the country. It is a unique opportunity to stay in a cottage with all the modern comforts and beautiful views. Close to native bush, abundant bird life and all grades of walking from the fit to the frail. Established gardens, wonderful elevated views out to sea. Absolute seclusion peace and natural beauty.

I was beautiful spot very quite, and heaps of bird life. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. But not suitable for small children, there was not barrier at front of deck and no hands. You wouldn't be able to leave anything outside as the deck is not covered and sea fog rolls in after dark and was very wetting. I think with some modest updating and repairs to joinery this could be a lovely place to go. the shower was not flash but a updated califort and pump would make all the difference. Also It needs to be made clear Not to go via Western valley rd and made clear to guest that they will be accessing via a working forestry block.

Awesome weekend in a peaceful wee spot. Oven could do with a deep scrub but other than that , thoroughly our time there.

Fantastic unplug from life
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Fantastic listening to the birds and nothing else. The view from the cottage over the valley is beautiful and if you are lucky enough to get some sun, it is the perfect spot to laze on the deck and enjoy tranquility. The owner is a lovely man and had some great tips for places to visit. The kitchen was basic but with everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and the shower was hot. If you want all mod cons this isn’t the place for you but if you want tranquility and lots of beautiful walks nearby, it absolutely is.

Peaceful farm stay in an awesome location. Loved hearing the birds in the bush nearby. Small & basic but had everything required to have a break away from the business of Christchurch city. The only downfall was the dismal shower. Very disappointing :(

The wee cottage is beautiful and peaceful - extremely dog friendly and welcoming. Sitting with morning coffee with the double doors wide open looking out at the valley and ocean in distance was bliss. We were surprised at how warm it was for the beginning of winter and Mike the owner is so easy going

Perfect Paradise
An idyllic retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect peace, void of the sound of traffic, just birdsong and a picturesque valley view. Congenial host. We will definitely stay again.

Fabulous Farmstay
Excellent secluded spot with all necessities. Mike very easy going with my curious whippet, who also loved her stay. The view, birds and wildlife was so peaceful. I could not get mobile phone connection, which i did not mind. Comfy and rustic. Thank you.

Such a beautiful spot, photos didn't do it justice it was so much more lovely, helped that it was 2 stunning days with warm sun on the porch, no outdoor fire pit anymore but very cosy and warm in hut with heaters for heating. Mike is very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed and another double bed with the pull out couch. Very easy, clear directions to follow :)
