About this property
Makepeace Island (Ocean Views)
The beauty of your Makepeace Island experience lies in the opportunity to explore as much or as little as you desire. Often our guests simply want to sit back, relax and recharge the batteries, but for those wishing to explore or venture further afield we have provided our recommendation for activities below. Some are complimentary, whilst with others we work with trusted partners in the region. We may need advance notice for some activities, specifically those curated for you By Design. This allows us to prepare, check availability, timings and costs.
Makepeace Island combines modern contemporary living with traditional tropical island design creating a tranquil environment that is in complete harmony with nature. Our latest refurbishment in 2018 was overseen by June Robinson Scott, interior designer for Necker Island and The Branson Estate, Moskito Island.
At Makepeace Island we act as custodians of this pristine environment and seek to minimise our footprint on the environment. Organic produce, vegan friendly amenities, recycling and a wastewater purification system. Our farm to table concept is at the heart of everything we do. Our produce and amenities sourced regionally to support the local community and we work with partners who practice the same degree of commitment to long term sustainability goals.
Makepeace Island was named after former resident and colourful local character Hannah “Shotgun” Makepeace. In 2009, Makepeace Island was developed as a private retreat for family and friends of the owners, Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Australia co-founder Brett Godfrey. In July 2011 its doors were opened for exclusive use hire allowing others to enjoy the tranquillity of this very special place. In 2018 Radek Sali, Chair and Founder of Light Warrior, an investment group that invests in businesses that are socially responsible & environmentally conscious, became the third joint Owner. Prominent Queensland business entrepreneurs and philanthropists Cathie Reid & Stuart Giles, co founders of the Icon Cancer Care Group and the Epic Good Foundation accepted an invitation to join the Makepeace Ownership family in late 2019.
In 2020, Makepeace Island was thrilled to have multi award winning chef Zeb Gilbert join the team. Having held two Chefs Hats for seven consecutive years in his previous position as Executive Chef and Co-Owner of The Wasabi Group in Noosa, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the table. He is skilled in multiple different cuisines and enjoys
curating bespoke menus for each guests stay. His driving force has always remained the same; a focus on using and promoting local, seasonal produce. He works closely with local producers to ensure that our seasonally driven menus receive only the best the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Zeb will create culinary adventures in collaboration with you that will become a high point of your stay. It’s your restaurant and menus will be designed specifically for you and your guests.
A $5,000.00 Security Deposit will be required prior to check in. This will be charged to your nominated credit card as a Pre-Authorisation which will be released after you check out.
