Great Place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely book it again if in the area. It was sufficiently close enough to many outside adventures and close to Toccoa College. We were able to sit back and relax while staying here. There is plenty of room.

Tugaloo River house

This house was beautiful inside meeting all our needs. The theater room downstairs was really nice for the kids when it rained or at night. It is a lengthy walk down the stairs to the river, so bring what you need dockside for a good while. The on site kayaks and canoes were very enjoyable. Fishing from the dock was a treat as well. The hosts were very responsive to any needs we had and a pleasure to deal with.

INACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY - NO DOCK BASICALLY

If you are expecting to enjoy hanging out at the dock fishing, swimming, boating or kayaking based on the descirpition and pictures you are going to be extremly disappointed. The water levels are so low and NOTHING like the pictures. The dock is basically out of the water and is useless. Felt like I got ripped off!!! My son came home from Air Force training and wanted nothing more to hang with his friends on a dock fishing and swimming. Needless to say that DID NOT happen!! Don't set a drink down on the dock it will roll off. Don't try and sit on a chair you will slid off. I would suggest removing the fact there is even a dock on your listing. Total false advertisment.

This property needs work

I will start by saying that we were allowed to check in early and check out late that is the only good thing about this property . That being said the septic tank was leaking in the backyard and we smelled that the entire weekend. The smell was so bad we did not spend much time outside. Deck boards were rotten and stairs were missing on the way down to the dock. One cracked as my wife was walking on the bridge to the dock. At the dock there is a boat that is covered in mold. The Internet was not working half the time and with teenagers that’s not a good thing. Also you get a great view of two run down house that are next to this house. If you rent here good luck

Peace and Quiet

Our family had a wonderful time! The house was very clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. We had the entire “bay” to ourselves! So peaceful! We aren’t fishermen…but we managed to haul in several Brim, a Catfish, a Pike, and a Striped Bass. Core memories were made! We will definitely be back!

Awesome Spot

This property was perfect for a weekend getaway with my friends. It's a very private, secluded area with tons to do (swimming, kayaking, games, movie theater, etc). The owner was very responsive, and communication was a breeze.

Great vacation overall

The house has a great charm and isolated with a nice path (lots of steps but hey…good for you right??) to the beautiful lake. We were a group of teens and they had a blast. The screening room is a jewel.

Heaven on Hartwell.

Simply amazing. This place does not disappoint. For an active family this is the ultimate getaway. My kids range in ages from 12 to 5 and all of them were upset to leave. We spent as much time outdoors as possible. Jake is the best host and made this much more memorable. The lake was a hit and everyone had a blast exploring. When the weather would not cooperate we had plenty of games to turn to. I was able to show the kids the newest Disney movie from the theater room. We would definitely recommend to anyone and are already planning another trip. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.

Slice of heaven

This property is a treasure. Close enough to town but secluded enough for peace and quiet. The house is beautiful; rustic charm with modern functionality. The dock gives you deep water river access and is large enough for most activities. But be prepared, the 130+ stairs back to the house is not for the faint of heart. Jake could not have been a better host and is as responsive and accommodating as an owner could b.

Perfect for a friend reunion

Loved this house. Had plenty of room for 4 families plus kids. The theater room, back yard, and fire pit were a hit! If you are looking for a lake house this might not be the best fit due to accessibility. But if you are looking for a gorgeous house for a large group to hangout, then this is it. Host was very easy to communicate with and the area was so peaceful. The boys went fishing while the girls sipped wine on the deck with a view. We can't wait to come back next year.

Quiet Location and Perfect for a Large Group

If you are looking for privacy, this is an ideal house. We had a large group (14) stay for a long wedding weekend. Jake was very accommodating and provided directions and answers to questions. There were plenty of sleeping areas and the house is well-stocked with necessities. The house was perfect because there were spaces for togetherness, and there were areas where you could have privacy. We enjoyed the fire pit and gazing at the stars at night. The only drawbacks for us were that the water level on the lake, unfortunately, was low so we did not use it. Also, the driveway to the house was a little rough in one spot. We were all able to navigate it, but a small vehicle (like a Honda Civic) would struggle. Overall, though, I would stay here again!

Comfortable house, very private with a responsive host

Jake's place is hidden away from view but accessible, a few country miles from Toccoa. Lots of parking areas for a large group with sleeping for 13+. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, appliances and utensils; there is a bonus refrigerator and sink downstairs. We didn't use the theater downstairs but there are many dvd's available as well as a lot of books. We had a class reunion with 12 staying at the house and as many more over for meals and memories - no problem! The deck handled the overflow easily! If you're using Google, don't use Cliffs Ridge Drive as the destination but Sunshine Ridge. Bing was OK! If using Heaven on Hartwell for water sports in early October, the water level was low. Our class had a great time at Jake's home; we wouldn't hesitate to use it again!! Thanks, Jake

Not what we expected.

We rented this house to celebrate my birthday with both daughters and their families. There was room for all, and we'd come from different places to be together and have fun, but there were problems. First, my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter were to stay in the downstairs apartment, but in the middle of the first night, my granddaughter woke up coughing and wheezing, and her parents realized that with the door to the bedroom closed, there was a distinct odor of mold. So, they moved to the loft - not private, but far more comfortable. We were also disappointed to find the dock shoved up on the property - the walkway two feet above ground, the ladder detached and stuck in the bottom of the "lake." We all left a day early, and I called the owner to tell him we were leaving and the problems we'd had. Despite those issues, we enjoyed each other, and the house has good points. I would not be writing this negative review - never have before - except that Jake, the owner, has yet to return our deposit! It's been a month. I've contacted him twice, and he responded that he would send it, but he has not. Do not rent this house.

Fantastic lakeside getaway in Toccoa

We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful home in Toccoa. It had a ton of room -- much more than expected -- and lots of great features. Kayaking on the lake was a highlight. Jake, the owner/lister, was helpful and courteous every step of the way. Would stay again! A++++
