About this property

Central London Holborn studio loft

A large studio loft with high ceilings has own entrance leading to the living areas with exposed brick work, glass and wooden flooring, stylish kitchen, washer/dryer, fridge, gas hob and electric oven, bathroom/power shower. Loft bed and sofa bed.

The space is on a lovely pedestrian passageway in Holborn/Bloomsbury area. High ceilings and large windows across one wall gives it a very light feel and opens you up to this historic part of London with buildings from well before the turn of the century.

You will have your own entrance from the street and the flat is up one flight of stairs contained within the flat.

I would be happy to help familiarize you with this part of London and beyond. The flat will also have books, maps to help you further.

Holborn is the great find. Bordering the West End, it is in walking distance from the Theater district, Oxford Street and the shopping district, Trafalgar Square and the Thames River. The British Museum is a mere 4 streets away. Fashionable Lambs Conduit Street with its small exclusive shops/botiques restaurants, bars is around the corner. It is simply central London with less noise at night and a lovely neighborhood feel just steps from the bustling west end life, yet walkable to there.

The flat is central to all forms of transport.
It is two streets from Holborn Underground Station which is on both the Central Line and Piccadilly Lines. Heathrow airport is on the Piccadilly Line. Liverpool Street Station is on the Central Line which also connects you with Stanstead Airport. Kings Cross Station with connection Gatwick Airport and Luton airport. As you can see it is very central. Most buses cross either north to south or east to west through Holborn area.

Many stores near by, Waitrose, Marks and Spencer Food and Sainsbury are all on High Holborn Street as well as any food/cafe/restaurnt you might desire. Also out the front door of the flat is the The Dolphin Pub (which closes at 11pm and across the street is the Enterprise pub. Along Red Lion Street are restaurants from Japan, China, Italy, Korean, Malaysian, India as well as steak houses and great pub food such as The Lamb on Lambs Conduit Street.

Please no house parties or events.
There are neighbors in the building and we do have a policy that loud or audible noise not be heard from the flat beyond 10:30pm. TV and normal chat is of course fine. Thank you.

Fantastic flat and wonderful host

Fantastic flat and wonderful host 5/5 Stayed Aug 2019 Alice Taiwan We four (including two daughters, 11 y/o and 16 y/o) stayed in the flat 8 nights in August. Stephen is a great host. Our flight delayed several hours due to typhoon. Stephen did his best to make sure our safe arrival. Even near midnight, he still tried to contact with us and tell me how to get to the flat. We were so grateful to him! This flat is a loft, central located (5 min to Holborn underground station and 10 min to the British Museum). The flat is not large but smartly designed. It is very clean and has luxurious pillows and bedding. I love the ladder to the loft. It is well equipped especially in the kitchen including washing machine/dryer. Besides, Stephen sent us great information about the grocery stores and restaurants in detail. It was quiet at night in spite of a tavern downstairs. We slept sweetly every day. It was so nice of Stephen to let us leave our luggage in the flat after check-out. We love the flat so much that I will book again next time to London. Many thanks to Stephen for the wonderful flat and great hospitality. Alice, Taiwan

Great Loft

We stayed four nights in Stephen's loft. The location was perfect. Short walk to the Holborn station and close to grocery store and restaurants. Stephen was great. Easy access and clear instructions on TV, washer etc. I was dubious about staying on a sofa bed, but the reviews said it was so comfortable, so I took a chance. Unfortunately it was like most sofa beds soft with little support. The loft bed was fabulous and my son slept very well.

Amazing Flat in a Central Location!

I stayed for 13 nights in this flat. It is exactly as described, well-stocked and in a great location. The sofa bed is very comfortable and the flat had everything I needed for my stay. There are grocery stores, restaurants, great pubs and other stores located nearby. It is less then a 10 minute wall to Holborn station. I really enjoyed my stay and I would book this flat again. Stephen is really nice and sent me a couple of messages to make sure my visit was going well. He leaves recommendations for local pubs and very thorough information about the flat. I highly recommend this accommodation!

A home from home

We very much enjoyed staying in this studio loft. The place was very well equipped, in a great location just 3-5 mins walk from the tube and Stephen’s communication was great. We’d happily stay again.

Fantastic Stay

I highly recommend this property. It's not big, but it has a lot of charm. My teenage girls loved sleeping in the loft, and the sofa bed was big and comfortable enough for two. There's a pub literally a stone's throw away, which means there is some noise in the early evenings; however, it isn't terrible. What makes this place so good are the owner and its location. Stephen was extremely welcoming. He allowed us to store our luggage at the place before check-in and offered to let us store our bags after check-out on the day we left. He also was happy to share suggestions, and he gave us a nice bottle of wine. The flat is within a 10-minute walk to the British Museum, and the Holborn Underground Station was a 5-minute walk, so it is conveniently located. Thank you to Stephen for helping make our stay in London a fantastic one.

Character and comfort

Our family of four just completed a 4 night stay in Stephen’s charming apartment in Holborn. My daughters slept cozily in the loft and loved spending time reading, chatting and laughing there, when not sleeping. It was actually hard to get them to ever leave it. Initially my husband and I were skeptical of sleeping on a sofa sleeper, but my fears were unfounded. It was ridiculously comfortable with luxurious pillows and bedding. The kitchen was well stocked and the washer/dryer served us well. The apartment was well located and felt like a hidden bit of old London in the middle of the modern city. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Loved the neighborhood!

We are older, so the king bed (fold out of the couch), worked perfectly for us. Our daughter stayed one night in the loft and was quite happy. About a 9 minute walk to the underground. Stephen was a great host and quickly responded to any need we had.

5 Star+ location. Charming. Efficient. Comfy. Perfection.

Can't say enough about Stephen's hospitality. The loft was perfect for my daughter and me. We walked easily to Covent Garden and the Theatre. We hopped the Tube for a day at Knightsbridge and Harrods. Everything was near, whether great restaurants or fun shops. Would definitely stay again and will highly recommend to all my friends. Thanks Stephen.

Great apartment and hospitality!

We so appreciated this gem of a flat and the thoughtful hospitality on the part of the host. The location is ideal for sights and shopping as well as the tube station close by for access to the whole city. Stephen took good care of us with an extra fan (London was having an unusual heat wave), a bottle of wine, and theater advice (very knowledgeable.) The flat is charming and well equipped. We would stay here again if available!

Bright airy apartment. Clever lay out. Wonderful location on passageway. Close to tube & Brit Museum

We had a super stay in London in this apartment! It is a studio flat, but feels roomy. My husband, 15-year-old son, and I all fit quite comfortably. (My son loved the loft bed. We slept on good sofa pullout.) The flat has a great design and Stephen has outfitted it with care. There was no need that he had not anticipated. And all was very attractive. He was also helpful before and during our stay, giving great directions for reaching the flat and making sure all was going well. The location was perfect for us. This was our first ever stay in London and the flat is a short walk from the British Museum: the Rosetta Stone, Parthenon marbles, Lewis chessmen. The Charles Dickens House is another easy walk--wonderful self-guided tour of five-story home. The British Library is a longer walk (easy by tube or bus) and there you can see a letter written by Queen Elizabeth, the Magna Carta, and Jane Austen's diary. King's Cross station is close to library with best Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 and 3/4, not to be missed if you are a fan!

Fantastic 9 nights in London

My daughter and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay in this flat June 3-12. It was perfectly located and completely well equipped. It was our very first time not staying in a hotel and found this to be a fantastic and rewarding experience. The directions to the flat were perfect and check in was a breeze. Stephen was generous and kind and checked on us through out our stay to make sure all was well. There were so many helpful books and restaurant suggestions left for us. The flat has so much character and charm. My daughter( age 19) fell in love with this flat and has dubbed it her "dream home". It was truly a great experience for us and we would highly recommend this flat. Susan

Well appointed apartment in excellent location with extremely helpful owner

The apartment is located in Central London and I was provided with crystal clear instructions to find it on arrival from the airport. The apartment is very accurately described in its listing and is a place where you can feel at home. I even received a bottle of wine in arrival. Shops retatauants and transport are at your doorstep. Stephen the owner responds very quickly to any questions and my stay was a most pleasant experience. Thank you!

Best location in Central London, great studio apartment, super host.

Stephen was a hugely welcoming and accommodating host. He is extremely keen to make sure things are right (and he succeeds!). A very good communicator, too. Lovely fresh flowers and great welcome provisions/basics in the kitchen. The studio is a really lovely space. The pictures give an accurate impression: it is very spacious feeling even though it is essentially one room with kitchen off, a very clever loft bed and a bathroom. The massive windows (with good quality micro-blinds), high ceiling and polished wooden floor make it work so well. It is very private despite being where it is - so central and close to so many work and play districts! It is very quiet. The flat is also stylish, and has some lovely art and has real character. If the loft-bed doesn't appeal (it is approached by a fixed loft-ladder and is by definition low headroom) the sofa-bed is of the very highest quality and is very comfortable indeed. The bedding and towels were good quality. I would love to stay here again, and hope to soon. Thanks Stephen.

Perfect spot in the heart of London

I fell in love with Stephen’s apartment and you will not find a friendlier, more helpful and accommodating host. The place is very charming with so many great touches – the exposed brick, glass, wood beams and the private entrance makes you feel like it is your own home in London. There are also huge French windows that look out on a lovely passageway. Also the high ceilings make it feel big and airy while still being cozy. It gets flooded with sunlight, although there are blinds and double-glazed sliding windows as well, which meant it stayed private and very quiet at night. The kitchen is well stocked and has every utensil one might need – including a washer and dryer – and the shower was hot and great pressure (all these things are not necessarily common for London, in my experience!) Towels, pillows and sheets are also of high quality. As far as the location, it cannot be beat and very safe and well lit at night as the flat is smack in the center of everything with great transport links, although I walked everywhere – Covent Garden and the West End Theater district, Bloomsbury, Russell Square, the British Library, British Museum, Oxford Street – all are just minutes away by foot. I walked over to the South Bank to see a play at the National Theater– and walked back home afterwards – the view crossing the Thames at nigh over Waterloo Bridge is spectacular and not to be missed! What is great is that because the flat is tucked away on a passageway by Red Lion Square, it is out of the hustle and bustle – it’s like this quiet little pocket in the center of it all. As you can tell...I really enjoyed my time there and plan to return this summer!
