About the host
Hosted by Lynne

We are a family cottage built in the mid 1960's and added to and updated over the years with love. Now we are opening up this magical place to others, having heard from friends and family members, as we do, how special this place truly is.
It is situated on the tip of a point of land just beyond one of the small bays of Lower Fletcher Lake, often referred to by the local's name of Skin Lake. Originally a water access cottage the approach was from the lake and now reached by a well maintained kilometer long road, (named by the municipality as Rodeo Drive!), winding through lovely woods and approaching the rear of the cottage tucked away in the woods, as the lake opens out at its foot.
We are family of four, and with other family and friends, have enjoyed and discovered and grown here. Arriving each Spring, this place with its depth of history, earlier and revolving inhabitants, many of them unknown to us, reveals its spirit slowly and calmly, even on the odd stormy day. Taking care of the cottage and the land each year, in return it has taken care and grounded us and has given some of its mystery, love experience and joy.
It is with great pleasure that we share some of the magic of this special place with others and we look forward to some new memories being made here.

Why they chose this property
We chose this property originally because we had spent a number of summers in Algonquin Park and when we approached the cottage from the lake we knew immediately that this was where we wanted to be. For anyone who loves the Algonquin Highlands this is the place!
What makes this property unique
private, tranquil, cozy, location location location!
close to Algonquin Park, Dorset, Dwight.
Livingston Lake Road is a lovely drive and passes several lakes and beautiful locations before its end at a portage access point of Algonquin Park. Makes for a lovely drive.
There's also a hidden and abandoned quartz quarry along the old lumber road that branches off after the dam. Makes for a good hike.
Also the dam is a great place to visit, just off the entry to our cottage road. And the division between Lower Fletcher Lake and the larger Fletcher Lake.
With a short portage the canoe can be taken for a days trip around Fletcher Lake. Also a short portage from the public boat launch/landing and then across the road to the marsh. A lovely area for wild life. -or just for a walk to the marsh edge to discover many birds and water creatures, indigenous plants and shrubs.
At the south end of the lake is a larger marsh area. Great place to also see birds and indigenous plants and shrubs, including cotton grass and pitcher plants.
Along the cottage road, some year you can forage for wild raspberries in July an Blackberries later in the season.
And so much more........
