The Charles is located in Broke and is ideal for those guests attending Weddings or Events in Broke, Wollombi, or the Hunter Valley. Or those who are looking for a relaxing escape with great views & exploring what the Hunter Valley has to offer.

The Charles named after Sir Charles Broke-Vere, the namesake of Broke is set on four private acres on the outskirts of the Broke village and has some of the best expansive views in the Hunter Valley. The Charles is surrounded by farmlands, and local vineyards and minutes from all the cellar doors and restaurants in the area including the award-winning Margan, Krinklewood, 1813, Winmark, and Kawal Rock Distillery are a few of our favourites.
In the Broke Village, we have a great cafe Magooneys for coffee or a bite to eat and the Broke General Store for all those last-minute food & drink needs is just minutes away.
The accommodation at the house comprises five bedrooms; one king and three queen bedrooms, and a bunk/ single bedroom. The wrap-around verandas create several seating nooks where you can slip away for a quiet coffee, drink, and enjoy a good book.
The chef’s kitchen is fully equipped with double ovens and an induction cooktop, outside you’ll find a new 6-burner BBQ. There is a large fridge and a wine fridge to keep your local wine purchases chilled and ready to enjoy. Designed for group enjoyment, The Charles has polished timber floors, high-raked ceilings, a spacious lounge, and a dining room with a large table and multiple outside entertainment areas, all with panoramic views over the local farms, vineyards, ranges, and the magical yellow rock.
At The Charles, we provide absolutely everything your group could need with a huge 55-inch smart TV in the main lounge room and another 55-inch smart TV in the 5th bedroom, free WIFI, books and games. With fully ducted reverse cycle air conditioning, ceiling fans, and an inbuilt gas fireplace, the amenities make The Charles the perfect retreat for all occasions and all seasons. You can kick back with your favourite wine and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

The property houses both a house and a barn. The Barn sleeps 8 -10 people and is available to rent separately together with the house. The house provides private and luxurious accommodation for up to 11 people. If booked together you can sleep up to 21 people.

4-night minimum for Easter long weekend.


GUEST ACCESS
At The Charles, guests have access to the entire house (5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and the outdoor entertaining decks and firepit). The guests can also stroll through the three acres of grass, gardens, and olive trees while enjoying some of the best uninterrupted views in the Hunter Valley. You may even meet some of the local animals including Cows, Horses, Sheep, Kangaroos, Wallabies, and Kookaburras.
The Barn is also available for separate rental and sleeps 8 - 10 guests.



SECURITY DEPOSIT
For direct bookings, a security deposit/bond pre-authorisation of $1,500 is required for your stay and is payable as a credit card pre-authorisation. This will be processed approximately 24 hours before your booking commencement, so please ensure the funds are available at this time and it will be released 24 hours after your booking ends. This is not required for Airbnb bookings, but they do incur extra Airbnb fees.
The Charles has exterior security cameras to monitor the exterior of the property. All recordings are private and the property of the owner, recording will only be used for insurance and legal purposes and to monitor occupancy and other policies noted in our Terms & Conditions. They, in no way, are there to infringe upon the expectation of privacy of guests in these exterior areas. To disable or obscure the cameras is prohibited and may result in loss of security deposit or eviction.
