The Location
Coledale is a small but vibrant community perched on the sea under a towering escarpment. With only a few streets and a scattering of shops it offers a chance to get away from the ‘rat race’ to a place where people still greet you in the street.

There are a variety of food options from ‘Earth Walker’ and ‘Sketch’ to the RSL and “Sharkeys” takeaway, all within two minutes’ walk. The “Coledale Cellars” stocks an impressive range of wines and beers and there is even a hairdresser and a beauty salon part of the village precinct.

Wander or swim in the cove and enjoy the simple pleasures of life; rock-pools, scuttling crabs, mini-aquariums, algae and sand underfoot. Dive or fish from the rocks, or swim in the 50 metre pool carved into the rock platform. Take a five minute walk to ‘Sharkey Beach’ or head north along the sand for five minutes to the patrolled ‘Coledale Beach’.

There is plenty to do and see around. Stop for lunch at the iconic Scarborough Hotel and tuck into the gourmet pub food, followed by a walk along the famous “Sea Cliff Bridge” and a meal at the newly refurbished Imperial Hotel in Clifton.

Drive to Austinmer for coffee and cake in the afternoon, the famous Headland Hotel offers great food and drink options. Try one of Thirroul’s fancy eateries for a special dinner, or treat yourself to a spot of shopping. This location really does have it all.

Great Location & very clean property
The property was spotless and the bathroom looked to be recently renovated. One thing that would be good is pedastal fans for the bedrooms

Nice beach getaway close to good cafes and beach
Nice location and presented as advertised. Communication with the owner was prompt without any problems. Aircon had been replaced and working fine. Not sure what issues others have had with the door but it worked fine when we were there

Great central location
Very spacious apartment in central location to town and its amenities. Had everything you need. Parking space tight, easier to park on street. Can be a bit noisy at night due to location but you get used to it.

Great family getaway
Great location, comfortable apartment. Third bedroom is noisy due to cafe refrigeration unit below and there is a fair amount of traffic noise being on a main road but otherwise, a very enjoyable and comfortable place to stay.

Mixed feelings
We recently stayed here and found it to be a mixed experience. The location was fantastic—close to the beach and a lovely café, and it’s great that the property is pet-friendly. However, the downsides made our stay less enjoyable. There were far too many cockroaches, including some very large ones, which was quite unsettling. The bedroom door didn’t close properly, the air conditioning didn’t work, and there were no fans, making it uncomfortably hot. Overall, the place is in desperate need of a renovation and some proper care. It has potential, but the current state of the property leaves a lot to be desired.

Location perfect - unit disappointed
The location was excellent. The unit was disappointing, air con did not work, host did msg me the day before, screws in the windows so only could open 1cm not enough air flow. Definitely need a new out door setting, broken & dangerous. Could not open 1 of the balcony doors, then could not lock the other balcony door.. DEFINITELY needs maintenance & some money spent..

Over-priced and problems
The property was very basic. The biggest issue is that the front glass sliding door doesn't even shut, let alone latch closed or lock so anyone could enter at any time. Quite bizarre. The entrance pathway is narrow and the rain collects to about 3cms deep for several metres and there is no option to access the premises except to walk through it. There is also a very loud and clunky refrigerator unit motor for the cafe downstairs that cuts in and out every several minutes night and day that especially affects one of the bedrooms. Probably most significantly, it is very, very over-priced for what it is in addition to the issues. I stay in many properties and rarely have any problems but this was well below standard.

Good and not so good
No toaster. Too much noise if bedroom windows opened. Inadequate air conditioning in hot weather, Kitchen needs an upgrade, Inadequate blinds in bedrooms letting too much light in as soon as sun came up.

Great location but a few issues with the property
The apartment was nice and clean however there were a few issues. One of the bedroom sliding doors wouldn’t completely close and the fixed glass door is loose so would squeak all night when the wind blew. There was also a really loud condenser on the building next door which you could hear throughout the whole apartment but essentially in two bedrooms which made it hard to sleep. For the price we paid I would probably not book this place again.
