About this property
The Shell House - a beach romance
The Shell House is a stylish, newly renovated villa in the Holiday House Bribie duplex footsteps to the patrolled surf beach, restaurants and shops for fun during the day. At night, the sound of the ocean will gently lull you to sleep as you snuggle up in your huge king size bed.
The Shell House boasts stunning interior design in a laid back setting. It’s the perfect place to be romantic with your partner or laze around on your own. Read a book and sip a cocktail on our comfy oversized lounge.
THE SPACE
Sleeping arrangements for The Shell House consist of a luxe bedroom with a comfy, king size bed dressed in Belgian flax linen sheets. It’s perfect for couples!
The Shell House boasts original artwork, a frame tv, a marble dining table and a cosy, electric fireplace. You can cook yourself a delicious meal in our full size kitchen or wander down the road to the Surf Club for dinner. We stock beach towels for your dip in the warm ocean and we can even lend you a boogie board or two!
Holiday House Bribie is an original mid-60s surf shack, consisting of The Shell House and The Beach House. The property was hand built by our neighbour in the first land release after the bridge connected the island to the mainland. We have continued the bespoke tradition by renovating The Shell House ourselves and buying local. The stylish interiors have been handpicked to suit the island’s laid back lifestyle.

GUEST ACCESS
The Shell House is all yours and the external space around it will be shared with ourselves.
We live amongst a National Park so you will see wildlife in the backyard. This could be rainbow lorikeets, a bush turkey or sugar gliders. Now and then you might see a tiny gecko inside. They eat stray insects so we are keeping them!
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
When we are staying in The Beach House, we love to give guests a welcome tour of The Shell House and assist in any way possible.
On other days we are a 90 minute drive away. Guests can reach us by phone, text or message and we will respond as soon as we are able. Guests will receive a unique access code to enter The Shell House on check-in. This code is changed after every stay.
OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
We stock a basic pantry, which includes: Nespresso pods, Black and Herbal Teas, Salt, Pepper & Cooking Oil. Please pop into a shop for your supplies and milk if you take it! There is an IGA within walking distance. Restaurants on the island are closed by 7pm so either eat early or plan to make your own meals.
The Shell House has airconditioning in the bedroom and a ceiling fan in the living room. There is a wonderful cross breeze from the windows to doors in the living room. The Shell House has heating throughout except for the bathroom.
There is an electric fireplace in the living area and a fire pit outside. We have starter kindling but you will need to provide your own wood for the fire pit. Remember to grab some marshmallows!
The property has security cameras throughout the grounds.
NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Shell House is a few steps away from a beach access track that leads to a patrolled beach. Woorim Beach is relatively calm with small waves. It is suitable for beginner surfers and nervous swimmers. We recommend that guests stay between the marked red and yellow lifesaver flags.
There are local shops within walking distance from The Shell House. There are cafes, a butcher, bakery, pharmacy, medical centre and an IGA. There are also a couple of surfing lifestyle and clothing shops.
Local attractions include a butterfly house, movie theatre and golf club.
Activities include swimming, 4WD, fishing, paddle boarding, jet skiing and parasailing. In Spring guests can pick strawberries at nearby farms.
Bribie Island is a national park with turtle and bird watching on offer. Turtle hatching season is Dec - March. You can see wild dolphins all year around and might be lucky enough to swim with the dolphins (but please do not touch them!)
There are great walking and cycling tracks across the island. The beach access track gives 4WD access to an hour of pristine beach driving with 4 lagoons nearby. See WW2 forts at low tide.
The locals are a hoot! They keep an eye on the property so don’t be surprised if they introduce themselves.
GETTING AROUND
From The Shell House it is a short walk to the beach, parkland, cafes, shops and pubs.
You can drive your car, cycle or catch a bus to get around. The Beach Access Track is nearby so BYO 4WD if you want to try beach driving!
Street parking is available outside of The Shell House. Guests may park on the driveway when the sprinklers are not watering the grass.
If you are staying with us and you need a taxi or Uber to an event, we recommend that you book transportation well ahead of time.

About the host
Hosted by Justine

Justine and Richard are a young couple with a holiday home on beautiful Bribie Island. We love to share our home with guests so that everyone can similarly enjoy the island's peace and beauty.
Why they chose this property
Holiday House Bribie is a mid-century duplex that was built by a couple who were our age when the island first settled in the 1960s. We first purchased the holiday house because we were reminded of childhood holidays with our families in our grandparents' mid-century beach homes.
We have lovingly fully renovated The Shell House ourselves, engaging local craftspeople when necessary. The Shell House is comfortable with stunning interior design and a peaceful outlook. The beach track is only a few footsteps from the house.
Holiday House Bribie is located in the small township of Woorim, which is surrounded by State Forrest and National Park. When you lie in bed at night, you will fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the ocean. In the morning you will rise to soft birdsong.

What makes this property unique
Holiday House Bribie is like nothing you have ever experienced. We are the island's most stylish holiday property for couples and solo travellers. We are only an hour out of Brisbane and guests can drive over the bridge to reach the island. We are close to watersports, the 4WD beach track and a host of other interesting destinations such as The Butterfly House or WW2 forts. No matter what your preference, you will find an enjoying experience out here!
