We stayed 2 nights in this charming home and could have stayed several more. Clean and comfortable accommodation, accessible to all Cape Breton had to offer.
Charles and Alicia were a joy to communicate with - very kind and responsive.
We would stay here again if we ever come back!
We loved staying at this old schoolhouse. Very charming property. Everything is there although they are not many pots if you want to cook. Beds are very comfortable, but for us tall Dutch peopke on the short side .Dutch
Perfect cottage for anyone who loves to relax and get away. Centrally located on the Cape Bretton narrows, it gives you easy access to all locations around the island. The owners are absolutely great, very accommodating, place is spotless. Love it,cant wait to go back
We loved this house! Cozy comfortable and charming. Special bonus: The owner Charles brought us more information on the famiky history as well as some fresh baked treats and jam. So good! The location is pretty remote, have to do some driving, but its centralnto both coasts. Not far to Mabou for music at the Red Shoe Pub
We went to the Cabot trail, just beautiful, we had a great time, played games at night. And slept like a baby, beds were super comfortable, all 6 of us have agreed with these ratings, if you like clean and comfortable, this is a great place
Great house in a great location. Would recommend this place to family and friends. Clean and well stocked with essentials and then some. Thanks Charles!
The place was amazing! Enough place for our 2 young kids (under 2) to play and to sleep! We had a really great time and we would come back again with no hesitation! Thank you for the high chair for our kids and your quick answer any time we needed it! to add
Lovely private farm house. Exceptionally clean. A bit longer of a drive to the Cabot trail but the location was well worth the longer commute time.

This was our very first vacation since coming to Canada, and picking this accommodation only helped us truly experience rural Canadian culture. Overall, the house is very welcoming, well maintained and comfortable. The calmness, vicinity to the woods, fresh dew, only adds to the unique experience. Finally, meeting the host was one of the highlights of the trip!
Highly recommended.
A pretty quiet school house, lovingly converted to a getaway. Everything was as advertised.
We were there after a very rainy few weeks, which really brought out the mosquitos in the area, not surprising for August.
The property was found as described in the listing. Hosts welcomed us with a gift of snacks/flowers upon arrival. A very nice, personal touch. The home was clean, sufficient linens were made available, and the kitchen was adequately stocked with cook wear. Great location for our travels throughout Cape Breton. We were approximately an hour from every Celtic Colours venue. The hosts even provided us with tickets to one of the performances. The overall experience was very positive and I would definitely recommend the property to others. Thank you for everything.
Amazing two nights at the lovely schoolhouse in Bras d'Or Lakes!
This schoolhouse was an absolute gem! Such a beautiful and surreal base-of-operations for our day spent driving the Cabot Trail! We absolutely loved this place and spent most of our time wondering what it looked like 114 years ago, when it was a proper schoolhouse. I would watch a two-hour documentary about the schoolhouse and how it functioned in the community in 1910. Inside, the place was immaculate. The living room was a great sitting room to unwind in, and I also spent some time reading in the back mudroom. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and very private, considering their quite a distance from each other. 100% would stay here again!!
We had a wonderful stay at this historic farmhouse. The home was immaculately clean and comfortable and a nice welcome basket with some much appreciated treats welcomed us after a long drive. It was decently located for travel around Cape Breton. I also appreciated having access Google had difficulty finding the address, but Alicia was available by phone to help us find the house. We suggest pinning the address for ease of travel around ths many roads of Cape Breton. Access to a washing machine was extremely helpful, which is not offered at every vacation home.
Amazing hosts. Spotless home. Very, very well furnished.
Private location. No TV but I could not have cared less. I only mention it because it may be an issue if you are relying on it to entertain youngsters in the evening.
Best vacation accommodation I have ever had by far.

Great little spot with authentic Cape Breton charm. Well equipped, comfortable beds, nicely furnished. While it is a little off the beaten path it is reasonably close to Whycocomagh and the Coop for food and centrally located in relation to a number of destinations. Consider taking the Little Narrows ferry (yes it's always running) to save a little time getting to the place. Our only (hilarious) concern was the number of mosquitoes which made dashing from the car to the house an entertaining necessity. A way to raise the blinds in the house (there seemed to be no cords) would be good too. These were minor issues. Overall great value and a very nice place to use as a base to explore Cape Breton. Definitely recommended!
